I loved, loved, loved this place! We happened upon it only because we were camping, it started raining and we needed a place to hide until the rain subsided (our plan was to go sightseeing but it wasn't an option in the rain). This place was listed in one of the travel guides and I'm glad we stopped. The coffee is great, they have good bakery items, they serve food too (we didn't eat a meal here so I can't comment on that, but people around us ate meals and it looked and smelled so yummy) and a TON of books! They also have a large selection of games available to play, but we were disappointed because so many of the games had missing pieces or were in a huge mess. But I loved that they made this place warm, friendly and inviting. Once you're in there, you want to "hang out" for awhile. It's a great place for one person to enjoy or a group. There's also a small store at the back that sells locally made art and, you guessed it, more books. Another thing I loved is that all of the books are for sale (used and new) but you can just sit and read while you drink coffee and not buy anything (there's free WiFi too). I highly recommend this place! It was busy when we were there, yet it still felt inviting and cozy (our kids had fun too, so that's a huge plus...

My family visited this establishment for a few quick beverages: 2 lattes, 2 hot chocolates. We spent a good 5 minutes trying to communicate our order to the woman at the register, eventually resorting to pointing our orders out on the menu (which syrups & dairy substitutes we wanted in each drink). Needless to say, when we tried to explain to the “baristas” that we ordered lattes, NOT mochas, she berated us by saying the only difference between the 2 was mocha. I told her we were aware & didn’t want mocha. She said mocha is chocolate & since we ordered white chocolate syrup we must like chocolate & proceeded to make our drinks incorrectly. They also refused to put peppermint syrup in hot chocolate for my daughter & insisted that a steamer was her only option.
This establishment could benefit from some simple culinary education & a hearty dose of customer service. Hopefully those in charge are passionate & proud enough of their investment to hold their staff accountable for their subpar...
Read moreWe've been coming to the Falling Rock for years - long before building a cabin at Au Train. In the old days, when we were tenting, it saved many a rainy day for us. Now my brother plays with the Falling Rock Jammers on Monday and Wednesday nights (great music - especially Wed, when the full group is there) and they feature local and regional artists on Saturday nights. There are games, books, and tables of varying sizes and shapes to sit and browse the web on their free WiFi. They require no minimum purchase to make use of all these things, but I certainly hope that those who DO use it, DO purchase a meal so that it never has to close down. Nicest people anywhere. Great breakfasts and sandwiches. Good ice cream. My one complaint is their coffee drinks. I ordered a 'blended ice' drink and it was a coffee beverage with small chunks of ice .... not really cold and certainly not well blended. If they could get a full range of beverages that would rival Starbucks or Caribou, I'd be stopping every day instead of...
