The hotel was nice and overall well maintained. It was in a good, safe location that is convenient to nearby shopping and dining. The traffic from the nearby expressway was a little loud and the mattress a little less comfortable than I’d prefer, but certainly not enough to deter me from another stay.
The staff, with the exception of one (Jenny), was polite and professional.
Getting the room serviced was an issue. Three request were made over the course of three days with negative results. Each day items were needed a trip to the front desk was made. Arriving at the room, in the late afternoon after a very long day, after the third request, it was observed that the room had again not been serviced. Towels and trash from several days had accumulated. Another trip to the front desk was made. Towels were requested from Jenny and obviously service for that day was canceled so as not to be disturbed in the room. Jenny was advised that the dirty towels and garbage would bet set in the hallway for house cleaning. She very promptly, and in less than a polite manner said nothing could be left in the hallway and invited us, the guests, to take out their own garbage and that a dumpster could be found outside. A walk down the halls showed several rooms on multiple floors had set their garbage in the hallways. A return trip to the room was made to drop off the clean towels and retrieve the used ones and return them to the front desk. Jenny said she could not accept used towels at the front desk and that housekeeping had gone for the day, implying they should continue to pile up in the room. She then said that the room hadn’t been cleaned this day because the service was canceled and housekeeping was actually on their way up to the room at the very time it was canceled, which was done in person, with her, while retrieving towels earlier. I do wonder why she failed to mention that earlier? She did eventually take the towels, however in short, she was rude, contentions and argumentative and did not conduct herself in a professional manner or represent the Marriott brand as would have been expected. Unfortunately at least two other people staying at the hotel stated to me that they had a similar experience and at least one other mentioned their unpleasant encounter with Jenny.
It is understood that mistakes are made. One would not dissuaded from a second stay. An unprofessional...
Read moreThe Residence Inn - Murfreesboro presents itself as new, stylish, and it wants to be polished. It almost succeeds but never really makes it.
Take, for example, my one bedroom suite. It was airy and everything was in place and Adamthey had things like the paper towel folded over in a cute way. But then the inside of the microwave was downright disgusting. It looked like an oreo cookie and meat pie had a fight and everyone lost the battle.
The bathroom was super cute, well lit, towels hung in place, a modern shower where the glass door doesn't move and water gets everywhere but whatever, it's hip. The biggest problem was the leftovers in the toilet. Ewww. No, more like EWWWW.
Or how about not knowing how to turn off the light underneath the microwave and just calling to ask the desk lady who tells you to feel around the underside or around for a button. Nope, the light function is built into the buttons on the microwave.
Finally, I have been fortunate enough to stay in places where I've been asked how everything was and the person asking was actually genuinely interested. Not here. When I responded with "eh," the lady didn't bat an eye and moved right along to collecting my key cards. And I guess that's the point. I have stayed in places way more dated where the potential atmosphere couldn't hope to be what this establishment is trying to go for. However, they had substance. They cleaned their plain, functional toilets and microwaves, they knew their business, and they made it a point to listen to my answers when asking me a question. Those are the kinds of places that I want to stay at. I guess it's just...
Read moreAfter almost 4 years of staying at this hotel multiple times per year, always on the 1st floor in a handicap room, we were put in room 320 which wasn't a handicap room. Very low toilet, no hand rails near toilet plus only 2 towels,2 handclothes 2 washcloths and no bedding for the pull out sofa. When we finally got what was supposed to be for the sofa bed, it only had a mattress cover, 2 flat sheets and a blanket. No pillow nor pillow case. Completely unacceptable for what was posted all over our reservation plus posted all in my Gold Elite profile. I totally wasted 25,000 points for the sleeping room. It was highly disgusting and I should have my points returned to my Marriott Gold Elite points Bank. Oh I was also told by more than 1 employee that we were put in room 320 because we were only staying 1 night using points when the people on the 1st floor were paying customers staying 3 nights. So disgusting and again another setup by some hotel employee. Then to top it off, during the night someone went into the meeting space after I requested for no one to enter the meeting space till I was back down there Saturday morning. Then we had a couple of things missing when we started packing up Saturday evening. I know it wasn't missing from the closet during the event on Saturday. Sad, sad ending and mainly because of 1 person over that hotel and it's no one in the sales department. This hotel has been in constant decline for the last year. That's why we're DONE DOING BUSINESS...
