Our reservations were for this past weekend for a work event my spouse had to attend. If you see in my review history I am relatively positive, however, with deep regret it was an arduous attempt to find anything positive except irony and landscaping. Read on for the full review below ⬇️
The Only Thing “Pure” About Room 307 Was the Irony
The hotel grounds? Absolutely stunning. Impeccably manicured landscaping, genuinely inviting curb appeal. For a brief moment, it gave the impression we were in for something special. Unfortunately, that’s where the magic ended—with the front lawn.
Let’s start with check-in. We arrived with our two well-traveled dogs, checked in with no issue (so props to customer-services staff, in fact, no complaints whatsoever!). Wearily, we did note we were greeted not by comfort or cleanliness, but by a heavy, musty odor and duct-taped carpet seams in the main lobby and halls. Yes—duct tape. While initially off-putting, I chalked it up to age or renovation and tried to keep an open mind. Spoiler alert: I shouldn’t have.
Now, the room itself. If we had known what we were walking into, we would’ve stayed in an RV, a tent—or frankly, the truck & trailer. I have serious doubts that our room had been cleaned in the last decade. For example, beneath the bathroom vanity looked like a time capsule of hotel neglect: bobby pins, plastic bottle caps, I am assuming mold on the wallpaper, and an array of stains I’m not qualified to identify. A biohazard might be overstating it… but only just barely.
Here’s the ironic kicker: the room was proudly labeled a “Pure Certified” hypoallergenic room—complete with an official plaque and a massive air purifier taking up half the entryway. According to the hotel’s own literature, these rooms are supposed to be pet-free to maintain allergen control along with other Wellness Suites (that we were offered weeks prior for an upgrade that we declined, I can only imagine…). And yet—we were assigned this room with our dogs, checked in and all. When making our reservations, we always declare when we are traveling with pets. No sneaky rule-bending here. The hotel placed two very visible Scotties in a room that, by their own policy (I am assuming & hypothetically, hypoallergenic should equate to no pets) was not supposed to allow animals.
So, either their staff doesn’t understand the policy, or the “Pure Certified” designation is little more than an expensive sticker slapped on a wall. Either way, if you’re counting on allergen-free accommodations for health reasons, be aware: Room 307 says otherwise.
Bottom line: This property is all show and no substance. Beautiful on the outside, but guest comfort, cleanliness, and policy adherence clearly aren’t a priority. If you care about basic hygiene—or ethics in advertising, you might want to...
Read moreWe stayed at this particular hotel as it was hosting a dance competition that my 2 daughters and I would be attending. The convenience of being attached to the "conference center" (which we discovered was technically just ballrooms that had a separate exterior entrance from the main hotel entrance) was very appealing as it made getting them to class and competition easy and allowed me to have a space to work as needed in between. Unfortunately, no work and very little sleep were accomplished on this trip. Unfortunately, our first room sounded as if a lawnmower was stuck in the HVAC and rattling the cover. As my girls tried to dress ad do hair and makeup, staff wanted us to allow maintenance in to "try" to fix the problem. When I said that wasn't currently an option due to time, they offered to move us for an upgraded price. After 25 minutes, down computers and dealing with a new employee (who was always kind but not helpful) a front desk manager came over and moved us to a room on a floor higher (which was branded The Premium Floor) for the same cost. We repacked, moved, and began finishing getting dressed for our dance competition. After a late night of dancing and awards and after grabbing takeout just a block away, we came back so I could ready the beds while they ate and showered. I first pulled out the mattress on the couch to see it was completely beyond its life and we could feel the metal frame and flattened springs. Then I began to notice all the staining. So three in a king bed it was. Well, until I began to notice large brownish-orange stains on the sheets, then the mattress, and then pillowcases and pillows. I was thankful for the blankets we had put in our car, and the extra sheets in the closet, so we remade the bed put the sheets for the pull-out couch over the duvet, and covered ourselves with our 2 blankets from home. The sheers were torn, the drapes had medium-sized white spots of something with grease rings around it, and did not close completely allowing light in at night and limited privacy during the day. The next day I ran the issue by the front desk where they offered to "let someone know". The hotel lobby and route to the ballrooms showed lots of wear and lack of maintenance, from large strips of taped carpet to extreme wear on seating. We found spoiled fruit in the buffet breakfast line, no hotel restaurant, and very limited hours in the coffee shop and bar. Even with 2 conferences/conventions going on at the same time parking was easy, the hotel was quiet, and getting from the top floor to the ground floor was not slow. I guess I know why now... The staff was always kind but never proactive even when I again brought these issues to them at check out. Very disappointed in this stay and already looking for other hotels as this will be a yearly...
Read moreWe stayed for a huge conference that started early in the morning until late evening. We discovered black mold in our room and mold in the tissue box holder. The holder sat on a small sink counter and is constantly wet from the faucet, causing mold. it took me awhile to figure out why every time I blew my nose it smelled like mold. We let the front office know in the morning,(7:30am) they said they would get it taken care of while we were out. we returned around 6pm to check as we were heading to our dinner meeting, nothing had been taken care of. they blamed us saying we had the do not disturb sign on the door. i complained that they knew there was mold, why didn't they call us to confirm to enter the room. they replied they don't do that! i said we are headed to dinner and will not go back upstairs to remove the sign, please enter the room and get it taken care of. Came back around 9:30pm and the front desk said they did take care of it so we headed to another meeting. about 11-11:30pm we headed to our room only to find they did nothing other than put a new tissue box in the holder....which the holder is what had the mold. When we went back to the front desk, with the molder tissue holder, they were horribly rude to me. Told me it was not mold (on the walls and ceiling - you could see where it had been wet, it was) and that they took care of it and that was that. I had already requested to leave a day earlier which apparently they did me a huge favor by not charging me an early check out ( seriously!!!!) I suggested they put us in another hotel since they were sold out, which they said no! they offered a $25 GC to the bar/restaurant. The conference has meals with our coaches, so i replied we wouldn't use it. I asked how they can expect me to sleep in a room with mold, I was told I could leave but would be charged for the night! The next day the manager said the entire situation was handled incorrectly, they didn't take care of the room the way it should have been, they do call to keep the customer updated about the room, and I should have never been told to leave or stay in the room either way I would be charged. He did offer us a $100 credit and to remove a nights taxes. It was better than nothing but honestly I should not have been charged at all! The credit didn't even cover one night. WE WILL NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL AGAIN! Horrible service and horrible rooms! OH and I let the people know that run the conference, so they contacted someone higher up that they deal with---- they responded with they offered us another room several times --- the hotel was sold out because of the conference!! Lied!! DO...
