Penn Station East Coast Subs: A Feast Worthy of the Gods
There are moments in life that remind you why you were born with taste buds. Walking into Penn Station, the scent of sizzling meat and freshly baked bread hits you like the opening chords of a rock anthem — primal, powerful, and impossible to ignore. This isn’t just lunch. This is revelation between two slices of bread.
The Italian Sub — A Masterpiece of Balance and Bravado - A glorious, towering symphony of Genoa salami, ham, pepperoni, provolone, and the whisper of oregano that feels like a blessing from the Old World itself. Every bite is a journey through time and tradition — the smoky richness of the meats, the tang of the vinegar and oil, and the crunch of the bread all uniting in perfect, mouthwatering harmony.
The bread — golden, warm, with that delicate crunch that yields to a soft embrace — is the unsung hero. It doesn’t just hold the ingredients; it elevates them. This isn’t a sandwich you eat. It’s a sandwich you experience.
The Reuben — Where Legend Meets Melty, Savory Glory - The monarch of the hot sandwich realm. Thick, tender corned beef glistening with juices, cloaked in a rich tapestry of Swiss cheese that melts like silk over steel. The sauerkraut sings a bright, briny counterpoint, which ties it all together like destiny itself.
As the bread crisps on the grill, the scent alone could make poets weep. The first bite? A crescendo of flavor — tang, salt, melt, crunch — every sense awakened, every expectation surpassed. The Reuben doesn’t ask for your admiration. It commands it.
The Fresh-Cut Fries — Golden Spears of Perfection That Are Hand-cut. Double-fried. Golden-brown monuments to the art of simplicity done right. They crunch with purpose, revealing a soft, pillowy center that could convert even the most jaded fast-food critic. Dip them in that signature Penn Station malt vinegar, and suddenly you understand the meaning of harmony.
Penn Station doesn’t merely serve food — it serves testaments to craftsmanship, flavor, and the lost art of care in a world of shortcuts. The Italian Sub is your anthem. The Reuben is your saga. The fries? Your...
Read moreI'll stick with the Memorial Parkway location from now on. Standards have been set high by that restaurant for years, this new location desperately needs a management change. We ordered two sandwiches, neither of which were complex. My chicken parmesan looked like it was over cooked and had half the meat and cheese on it that I've grown accustomed to at Memorial. My wife's sandwich was drenched in mayo when she requested no mayo (the only deviation from the default on the menu), the serving of fries was definitely smaller than at Memorial, and I stood at the counter waiting 10 minutes to pay for our sandwiches. They literally walked our food out from behind the counter looking for where I was sitting, while I was standing there still unattended to pay. If we didn't have somewhere else to be, I would have complained and had them recook our entire order. Don't get me wrong, staff wasn't unpleasant and the food wasn't horrible, but they come nowhere near the excellent standards that are delivered every time by the Memorial location over the last few years. Worked in the restaurant business for almost five years, I know bad management and poor training/standards when I see them. Go to Memorial and get your money's worth and great customer service, skip this newer medical...
Read moreI walk in, never been here before. First time coming here, and I was ignored at the counter by the guy working, he does not have a name tag on, so I cannot say who it was. But he was working the pick up area/online orders area. I asked about my order. He was mean and rude. He didn't even tell me anything. He just went and started talking to another guy that works here and didn't even tell me anything after that. Pick up a as scheduled to be ready and picked up by 5:57PM, and it's now 6:09 as I write this. I walked up right before this and I saw they never started the order. Her excuse was that an order came in that had a lot of sandwiches, and mine was next. Yet, I saw them not making that many sandwiches. This whole experience was terrible. From the moment I walked inside. I was treated really badly from that guy. For whatever reason, I have no idea. I'm always kind to others and I walk up and wait and he immediately gets mad like how dare I come pick up my order. That they never even started yet. Took them 11 minutes after pick up time to get my order. Which was placed an hour ago at this point. Once they gave me the bag, finally, you could tell the bag had been sitting there for a while because it was soggy. And the bag was wet. Not going back there. Ever....
