We were in TN to celebrate our son's birthday and after a nice dinner we stopped by here for dessert. This was our first time trying rolled ice cream but it will not be our last, in fact I have made it my mission to search these places out. The ice cream is literally made right before your eyes - they pour the sweet cream onto a frozen metal pan then add the ingredients according to your "creation" choice. Hubby and I decided to share the Berry Heaven and I was mesmerized as I watched them chop fresh raspberries, strawberries and blackberries into the cream turning it into berry-licious rolls as I watched then topped it with more fresh berries and whipped cream. My son and his girlfriend had the New York New York and Matcha Zen and they too were heavenly good. The staff is amazing at what they do, they really make you feel like you are a part of the experience and love to see the look on your face when they present you with the end result. Kinda odd to find a place like this in an industrial park area but thanks to review sites I discovered it while in town. The prices are actually less than I would expect to pay - only $6.75 which includes your choice of creations, whipped cream and 3 additional toppings (they also sell bubble tea and slushes) - quite a bargain considering that frozen yogurt places charge by the pound. Wish we lived closer because we would absolutely...
Read moreWe try to visit a rolled ice cream shop every time we roadtrip so we went slightly off our route to get here. Which made the disappointment even worse. The booths and fish tank were nice, but the lighting was dim, and the entire space was cluttered with anime merchandise hanging from racks or wrapped in cheap cellophane on every surface. Overall, the atmosphere just felt like a money grab. The lady who checked us out was kind to my son but I wish she would have been honest with me that the pecans were all burnt when I ordered (not doing so is putting money before your customers). And that brings me to the ice cream itself, that is the most important part anyway, right? With the exception of my husband, who ordered the banana swirl, we all threw our ice cream away. It was that bad. We love ice cream, so it takes a lot, I mean A LOT of bad for us to throw away full $7 cups of ice cream. The pecans in the butter pecan were burnt and ruined the ice cream completely. The minty dream tasted like toothpaste. The chocolate ice cream, with nothing mixed in, was sour (SOUR?!?) and you couldn't even taste the chocolate. Cold Grill Ice Cream is going on the "never ever again" list. This one is a hard...
Read moreThe truth is that whenever a restaurant has a very high rating, they generally use a lot of butter, oil / fat or something high in calories to make the food stand out. This is no different for Top Cold Grill Ice Cream. The Brown Sugar Milk Boba Tea is 1000 calories at least. I researched the ingredients, did the math and was shocked. Nothing in the restaurant is vegan, by the way. The staff in the Murfreesboro store are unfriendly and treat you as if you're an imposition. I'm not sure why, but every one of them is unfriendly. And while most businesses have taken down their covid fiberglass screen, Top Cold has continued to use one with an additional irritant in the loud microphone you have to speak through to place an order. I barely heard them when they spoke back because of the impersonal distance between us and the general din inside the restaurant. I'll stick to Coffee Fusion for...
