The Crystal Inn Hotel & Suites is hands down the best hotel in Salt Lake and its surrounding areas. I can only liken it to my hotel stays in Las Vegas and Palm Springs with my parents and beloved grandparents in the 1970’s &1980’s. The customer service at the Crystal Inn is from a dying pool of ideologies surrounding restaurant and hotel management in which people actually took pride in their various positions and truly believed in providing their guests with a superior customer experience! Well with regard to outstanding customer service the Crystal Inn does not disappoint! And folks believe me you we’ve stayed in just about every hotel in the area! And absolutely no one does it like the Crystal Inn! Honestly no detail is too great with regard to the meticulous efforts of upper management and their employees. Specifically, the general manager, Vanessa. I had just spoken with her the day before on the elevator and she was wearing her GM garb. Anyhow the very next day she wore one of the housekeeping outfits. She stood reviewing a piece of paper and I said, “Hi Vanessa!” She smiled and we spoke for just a few moments. I could tell she wanted to get to the task of cleaning the guests-room.It really shows one’s character as well as leading by example! So let’s get to the front desk gals. Specifically, Ali, Abby, Dani, sweet pea Chris (with her mother’s wedding band on! That story about your wonderful father who showered your mother with such tremendous love, respect and treasures has just stuck with me. I will never forget it. It meant the world to me. I love that you wear her ring with such reverence) and of course the multitalented Rhonda! Important to note that it is was Rhonda’s birthday on September 1st. So Rhonda I didn’t forget! Happy belated Birthday KID!!! She just happened to be at the front desk and the gals were busy so as if on queue Rhonda jumped right in to assist with the the multifaceted roll of a front desk employee. Now my husband loves jacuzzis but let’s face it folks not all jacuzzis are alike. Bottom line! Some are dirty! Now no one wants too much chlorine but chlorine is necessary in swimming pools and jacuzzi’s. It just is! It mitigates a multitude of diseases. Also, if the pool or jacuzzi is old and they do not resurface or replace it they are truly a breeding ground for bacteria. Now my husband loves the jacuzzi at the Crystal Inn! Now I am not even really into them but I found myself dangling my feet into the bubbling water! Oh and let’s not forget that they provide fresh clean towels for the guests! Okay let’s get down to the fantabulous breakfast buffet. Arguably, the absolute best complimentary breakfast ever! You get so many choices at their cold bar in which they offer a variety of dry cereals, packaged oatmeal, yogurt, cottage cheese and a medley of fresh fruit. Moving on to their hot bar. Again, quite an array of hot choices such as scrambled eggs, sausage links, a daily option of a hot sweet treat ergo this morning it was this yummy sweet homemade warm peach cobbler with real oats and now my absolute favorite option of a daily potato! The hash browns are sublime! Next is the beverage bar which consists of milk, four different fruit juices, tea bags and hot decaffeinated and regular coffee. They allot you two options for creamers. One being a french vanilla and the other is a regular unsweetened creamer. It’s not over folks! They have multiple options for toasted yummy carbs ergo various breads, English muffins and finally bagels and cream cheese and of course butter. Well it would be a crime to not applaud Rochelle on manning the entire operation! This woman is unequivocally a super star! She takes such care of HER breakfast bar! As mentioned above her daily options for revolving potatoes are a fan favorite amongst guests as well as employees. The Crystal Inn provides by far the best customer care from a time when the word “care” actually meant something! Every hotel in Salt Lake and the surrounding areas should take a page out of the Crystal Inns’ phenomenal...
Read moreDon’t believe a lot of the negative reviews, people expect the four seasons for just over a hundred a night… not happening.
Check in was seamless, extremely nice desk staff member got me checked in quickly. The lobby is a little small but nice. We were put on the ground floor, at the end of the hall, made it convenient to get in and out since we had a door right next to our room.
Property it self… well it’s a tad dated. Still kinda has that motel tendency to have double sinks outside the bathroom; not a huge deal, but shows the property definitely is stuck in an older time.
Room was overall clean, dud find a few long hairs in the sheets and duvet, likely from the house keepers, nit a ton just a few stays, no big bother. The vent in the bathroom probably could have done with a hood deep clean as well. Few places wall paper or paint was pealing, but i have definitely seem worse in salt lake.
Hot tube was a good size, just needs to be turned up, definitely more of a warm tube even with the jets on. Pool was freezing, like garden hose in the back yard pool freezing. Could use some warm water put in once in a while.
Stark contrast with the room bathtub. First night the hot was burn your skin off, but guessing we hit it with a full tank as to was more temperate the next day. Watch the shower head, if it’s turned to the wrong setting you will get a wake up call of a jet of water hitting ya when you aren’t expecting.
Location is good, right by Fashion Place Mall and quick access to 215 east or west. Not a lot of places to eat within walking distance, a small gas station and red lobster is about it, but plenty with a short drive.
Overall it fit our needs was close to Murray for the appointment we needed and i didn’t have to contend with a large digital sign in my window all night like some other hotels in the vicinity.
Breakfast was a highlight, plenty more d choices on a hot buffet, plus fresh fruit and yogurt as well as other continental choices. Scrambled eggs (with cheese the second day) sausage and bacon, breakfast potatoes, and a rotating bread option first day there was a good muffin loaf and the second they had apple turnovers. No pancakes or waffle maker, but breakfast was a highlight for sure.
overall, looking at the pictures of the sweets of Jacuzzi baths in them, definitely look like this hotel is geared towards older people celebrating their anniversary, or maybe nearly was looking for a place to stay before they launch to their honeymoon. For the price isn’t bad just as I said, seems geared more towards an older climbing tower would probably stay here again, which is more than I can say for some other hotels...
Read moreNot very impressed... There was trash on the floor of our room (old french fries, a large blue pill, and a happy meal toy, q-tips, and napkins) and in the drawers by the bedside (a opened and used bag of chew) when we first entered the room. Several parts of the room were in disrepair (counter top falling off, pictures falling off the walls, curtain ties torn) We booked the room for 4 people, but they didn't provide sheets, blankets, or pillows for the sofa bed -- I had to call the desk and request them, and when we got the bedding, the fitted sheet was still wet and hadn't been dried all the way -- I had to walk down to the main desk to get a replacement. The hallways smell of smoke although our non-smoking room does not... thankfully. There is one small elevator in the middle of the building that feels like it's going to either drop or get stuck each time you use it. They don't have "room service" basically meaning they don't change towels, or take out the trash at all during your stay, even if it's multiple days.
"OK" things: Hot tub and pool were decently clean and we're not heavily populated. Free WiFi Continental Breakfast
UPDATE: I HAD INITIALLY GIVEN A 1 STAR REVIEW.; However, the hotel management heard of our experience and expressed they are looking into the issue and don't want anybody's stay to be like this. They compensated us for our troubles. Since they were at least willing to resolve the issues, I updated the...
