Prior to leaving this review I tried to reach out to the hotel and received no response. I do not recommend this hotel after staying two nights. At the price point I paid ($800+ for two nights in October) I expected much more than what we received for our stay. I feel like I threw my money away staying here and wish I’d listened to the low star reviews because everything they said was what we experienced. This hotel was meant to be a treat for my friends and I, but it was the worst part of our trip to the area. I definitely overpaid for this deceptively advertised motel. It’s like they purposefully excluded photos of things that might dissuade guests from staying. This is advertised to be a luxury boutique hotel but if you’re not in the main house they’re just sticking you in a poorly maintained motel with “fancy” appliances. When we arrived there was a hectic parking situation, the spots are narrow, poorly marked, and everyone parked crooked leading to our car getting scraped by another guest when entering their own car (we watched and heard it occur while unloading our bags). I brought up the parking to the front desk and they said we can park in their back lot or along the sea wall. It would have been nice if there was some supervision on the parking since the lots are so small and all it took was one person parking poorly to ruin it for everyone else. The back lot was narrow and a nightmare to get into and out of for a large vehicle. There’s also only one entrance in and out for vehicles and pedestrians. Once we got into the room we were hopeful, surface level everything looked amazing in the room. We had a partial ocean view as advertised from our second floor balcony, but we also overlooked the backdoor for the kitchen where workers made nasty comments each time we went on the balcony and did normal things like take photos. We also had an adjoining room and were not made aware of this. The walls are paper thin and we heard everything from the guests next door when they checked in. We heard no other noises about an hour after they arrived and believe they might moved rooms for similar reasons why we should have asked for a switch. The TV remote was covered in a layer of dust and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in quite a while. Even a quick clean with a wipe couldn’t get it less grimy. The sink for the room was a horrible design. The faucet takes up a large part of the sink and even when you push it aside it’s hard to use the basin properly. Brushing your teeth or washing your face in the tiny sink was a challenge and lead to water on the floor. We used a towel to wipe up the floors and were shocked at how filthy the towel came up. Checking our socks we realized those too had turned black from walking around the floor without shoes. It looked like a mop had never touched the floors. The shower and bathroom floor were both also dirty and the floor around the toilet especially looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in a while. The hotel charges a destination fee per night which is meant to cover the amenities, such as the PUBLIC access WiFi that anyone coming near the hotel can connect to and a meager “breakfast”. If you decide to have breakfast at the hotel you won’t have any good seating options if the weather is inclement. There are no tables to sit at indoors or in the guest room, so you have to eat in your lap in the lobby chairs. I understand that the seasonal nature of the hotel allows them to make repairs in the off season, but the number of issues in the room made us feel like they don’t care about their off season guests. The curtains in our room were broken, the lampshade was water damaged, the sink was rusty, there was dripped paint on the shower door, and the overall dirt and filth in the room made us uncomfortable. At check out I brought up the dirty floors in what I thought was a kind way, I received no apology but was assured the floors would be scrubbed. Based on reviews from others, I don’t think that...
Read moreWe have driven by The Shore House many times since the change over from The Ocean Rose/Turtle Soup, which was ALWAYS a favorite landing spot for us.The new restaurant appeared too antiseptic to our liking. Tonight we were headed to another area restaurant, but due to loss of electrical power the restaurant was not open. We reluctantly decided to try The Shore House. We were pleasantly surprised to find the interior quite welcoming with a new wrap-around bar. We were greeted by Connor with a friendly handshake. The menu was limited with several specials offered. We decided on garden salads with chicken and lamb chop. The lamb chops were ordered med. rare, but arrived med. well. Nothing was done to remedy this when asked how our meals were. There was a 2nd bartender who asked. Another couple sat and the gentleman asked for a martini. He was told there was no pepperocini juice. He asked for a pear martini. No pear vodka. He settled for something they had. His wife ordered a non-frozen mud slide and was served something that resembled a watered down drink containing milk. 2x I asked for bread. I was told by one bartender I could not get bread, while the 2nd bartender was sure he could get it for me. He never appeared to us again. There was Nan and crustini on the menu. Upcharge me, but keep the customer satisfied. They quickly became unprepared for the rush that ensued due to the other restaurant being closed. My husband ordered an after dinner dtink and was told they didnt have the alcohol to make it. I ordered a coffee drink and was asked 3x what I had ordered. It arrived in a shallow coffee cup minus whipped cream. I asked for whipped cream and was told by Connor that there was none. I noticed on the menu a dessert item with whipped cream. I asked the barback if he could get me some. He presented me immediately with a generous portion. Connor was indignant when this was brought to his attention. The mess outside the bar window was shameful. I have a picture. Needless to say we do not plan to return even tho we continue to love the location and view. It has an arrogant atmosphere demonstrated by the bartender who said he was acting on the chef's behalf. Quite a personality change from beginning to end. The previous owners had a competent and accommodating bar staff. Having worked in the industry for many years and being taught to please the customer at all cost, I would not recommend this restaurant. I hope for it's revival. It is a perfect location for nothing...
Read moreWow! Before writing this review, I wanted to review the website to make sure I am not fibbing.||So, my girlfriend and I wanted to go to Narragansett, RI last minute. The only place available was The Shore House, total cost over 600.00. I get it, last minute and location. I was very excited to have fun since my friend came in from CA.||Check in was easy. I thought for that amount we paid for the room, we would have a beautiful balcony over looking the water. Instead our room was in back, bottom floor looking at a parking light. Sometimes if cars were not parked, we could see the sea wall.||My friend stated for 900.00 a night, people can rent an entire home in Malibu, CA. If you review the website, the camera scans the main building and does not show the basic motel like rooms.||What made me so mad and disgusted was the following; my friend and I wanted a drink at the bar at Sea Craft attached to the Shore House around 8:30PM. There were many people standing/sitting around on the front lawn where the fire pit was located.||We found two chairs and quietly talking amonst ourselves by the fire pit. Then the wait staff stated, "Are you part of the wedding party?" We stated no. She stated that we had to leave. I did not understand. Here we paid over 600.00 for one night and wanted to relax in front of the fire pit. She stated that the Sea Craft restaurant is not part of the Shore House and we had to leave.||No where on all the websites about the Shore House does it say that the Sea Craft is not part of the Shore House. So, anytime there is a private party and you are staying at the Shore House, potentially you may be kicked out for sitting in the Adirondack chairs every though you are a guest. ||So let me summarize my review:||1. For the money, it is not worth it|2. False advertising: the photos, and video shows the main house but not the motel rooms in the back where we stayed that were so basic for over 600.00 a night including tax|3. If you make a reservation especially on a weekend, make sure you ask if there is a private party that evening/s because you will not be able to relax and enjoy the fire pit and or sitting in the Adirondack chairs in front of the hotel which was insulting and very disappointing...
