We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express location in New Braunfels for two nights. We have stayed in Holiday Inn Express and Suites throughout the United States, and this location was, by far, one of the best that we have stayed at. The front desk team, especially Bryan, was friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. Bryan talked with us about the local area and recommended a great German restaurant for dinner. He was very personable and one of the best front desk employees that we have met. We felt valued as customers and One Rewards members.
The location is perfect for visiting the sites in the local area and it's close to the Interstate for easy access. The rooms were clean, and the entire hotel was well-maintained. Walking into the room was almost like walking into a cruise ship stateroom. There was a decorated towel animal on the bathroom counter and housekeeping made sure that there were extra touches around the room that showed how much they cared about elevating the guest’s experience. Very nice! The only comment would be that the elevators made strange noises, which was a little disturbing. But Bryan warned us about it ahead of time and assured us that elevators were routinely inspected and perfectly safe. The breakfast bar was clean and serviced frequently while we were there. It’s a good breakfast that is free and there’s a lot of variety to choose from.
What makes this an even better stay is that before this, we had stayed for three nights at a Holiday Inn Express & Suites near the Houston Space Center, and our experience was the opposite of what we had at this New Braunfels location. Other locations should look at this New Braunfels location to see the right way to treat and take care of customers. Great job and thanks for the...
Read moreThis is a good, clean, comfortable, reasonably priced hotel with a good hot breakfast included, which is what I expect from a Holiday Inn Express.
Some good things about this particular location are the towels are folded up fancy. There is a grab bar and some coating in the tub / shower so I feel safe getting in and out. There is plenty of hot water and it comes out fast.
The staff are responsive when asked. It seems they might be a bit understaffed compared to other HI Express locations. At breakfast I had to wait awhile for the eggs to be refilled. I asked for the restock at the front desk because I didn't see anyone tending the breakfast area, though it was clean and had everything else.
The one thing I didn't like was no coffee maker in the room. I like to drink my coffee as I'm getting dressed and ready for the day. To do that here, I had to put on a bathrobe and slippers and journey downstairs. It is a good thing I'm not shy.
In the room where the coffee maker is supposed to be is a sign saying "Enjoy the bean-to-cup coffee in the lobby, available all day and night". Yes the coffee from the machine is good, with 3 choices: coffee, decaf, and hot water. No fancy espresso or latte. They do put out a pitcher of real half and half, along with 2 syrup flavors and a couple of sweetener options, no stevia.
The location is close to the highway and about 10 minutes from the Gruene tourist area.
Things to go to the next level and earn a 5 star: 1. put the coffee maker back in the room, refresh the wall coverings, some guests and time have damaged several places in our room. Update to virtual room keys Add an electric vehicle (EV) charger so people can charge up overnight, like at Santa Rosa,...
Read moreMy wife and I are both platinum elite members and stay at Holiday Inn Express locations across the country. We use HIE primarily because it is consistently clean, comfortable, and a fair value. This New Braunfels location is terribly disappointing. We booked 2 rooms Sat 12/28 to Sun 12/29. Not clean, not well maintained, poor service.|1) When we arrived Sat around 4pm, the trash can outside was very full, but I assumed it would be emptied soon (nope). By the time we left around 10am on Sun, there was trash piled all around it and staff sitting on the bench outside vaping and looking at cell phones.|2) One of the two elevators wasn't working and the one that was working didn't sound good. The lack of elevators had our family waiting multiple times to be able to get on one that wasn't full.|3) There are ice machines only the 1st & 3rd floor (we were on 2), but the one on the 1st floor was broken|4) The there was hair (more than one) and small stains on the comforter and on the mattress cover (we pulled back the fitted sheet to check).|5) The shower curtain needed to be washed (not clean, but not filthy either). There were dirt smudges on the walls that I was able to wipe off, so I know it could have been done by house cleaning.|6) Despite all this, the breakfast was the absolute worst. We arrived at 8:30 am (they were supposedly open to 10am) The pancake machine was broken, they were out of eggs, there were no cinnamon rolls, the biscuits were cold. The poor woman servicing that area didn't speak English, but I don't think this was her fault. |The breakfast debacle and everything else is really a management issue. We would not recommend staying at...
