Thai Racha — Restaurant in New Braunfels

It is so wonderful to have some Thai food in New Braunfels. Yet, if I had to compare it to other Thai places, I am sad to say that it would not hold up. I will be back because I LOVE me a bowl of curry.

Spice wise- Their hot was not very hot and was easy to eat. The Thai hot was extremely hot and seemed like it had a pound of ground chillies in it. The chilli flavor overwhelmed the entire dish to the point where you could not taste the fragrent basil or coconut.

The cheese sticks were a great treat. You get 10 for around 6 dollars, so we get it everytime. They are typical sticks, flaky and crisp with a smooth center.

They have options for your meat and level of spice.

The last time I got the red curry, I finally received the dish after I was brought the wrong entree without an apology. My husband was done eating by this point. When I got it, it was extremely watery. This made it difficult to eat and ruined the flavor. I felt like I was eating a bowl of water and bamboo shoots with a touch of basil and red curry.

Waited over an hour for no food. Ordered online and arrived promptly at 40 minutes when it said it would be ready. When I arrived they couldn’t find any record of my order and even asked if I was at the wrong restaurant. I showed them my order in my email and they took my phone into the kitchen and started running orders to tables while holding my phone. Not sanitary to say the least.

Then I was told they need to make the order and to wait another 10 or 15 minutes. At 10 minutes I asked where the food was at and they said they needed even more time!

I asked for a refund but they insist my food is being put into boxes. I asked for a refund anyway and received a cash refund. It took one hour for them to make two dishes, green curry and pad Thai. It does not take an hour to make such an order and it was disappointing that our order was maybe lost.

I waited an hour and received no food whatsoever, not even an apology. Do not waste your time here, there is a better Asian restaurant near the HEB by Buccees. It’s rated higher and has much better service. We went there and had food within 15 minutes, and great service. Not sure why this...

The Chicken Pad Thai was good (could be a little spicier ... ask ?!) .... but note that the Chicken in yellow coconut Curry is very very good! (We rate it a 5) It exceeded our expectations. The dining area is fairly mediocre as is the small strip mall its located in.... but hey, it's New Braunfels. $ Prices were fair for the taste, quality and serving size of the food. The fact is that finding goid Thai food in the area, including San Marcos, has been very difficult. Every other Thai restaurant we've tried has been disappointing at the least and we won't return to any of them. .... but we will be going back to Thai Racha on a regular basis and at least one of us will get the Chicken Coconut...
