The hotel needs a little TLC. It's not out-dated, but it's got some wear and tear.
It's in a nice location from the JFK airport. However, something very strange is that it's in a residential area and the neighborhood is THE dirtiest neighborhood I've ever seen in the US! I've never seen so much trash in the streets of a neighborhood in America. Very strange that the residents don't come together to clean up where they live! The hotel keeps the trash up around the hotel, but walk around the hotel and you'll see trash littered everywhere!
Anyway, back to the hotel stay. We were only here one night. We arrived around midnight. As a diamond member we get some perks, like a free item from the "market" and late checkouts. We took a couple of bottles of water. The lady at the desk mentioned that there are 2 bottles of water in the room, but they'll be tepid. My husband took the water bottles anyway. Thank goodness he did because when we got to the room there were the two little coasters that said "stay hydrated. Compliments of Marriott Bonvoy", but there were NO waters there! And he has to have water for his CPAP machine.
The next day we came downstairs for breakfast. The poor lady working at the counter was doing everything alone! Taking the orders, making the coffee, etc. There was a small line. She was great at her job! I ordered the avocado toast and my husband ordered the all American breakfast. I was a little disappointed with my breakfast because it said that it came with tomatoes and arugula but when it came out it had sun-dried tomatoes on it and a spring mix, and a Vinegarette dressing that was pretty sweet. Maybe I read the description wrong, or maybe they ran out of some produce and didn't mention it. My husband's meal was pretty big; he didn't finish it all, but it was good. They didn't give us a number or anything to take to our table, and told us to sit wherever we wanted. So then a guy comes out of the kitchen and just goes from table to table asking people if they ordered something. Not a great system. So, then after a while he'd go to the counter to ask who ordered something and I thought, "that lady is busy enough!"
The room was comfortable with a nice view. The employees were friendly and helpful. Even though we had a late check out for 4pm, once we returned from lunch our keys no longer worked My husband needed to get in the room ASAP for a conference call. Thank goodness there was a housekeeper in the hallway who called downstairs and let us into our room! In the future Marriott needs to be sure that their guests have access to their rooms until they check out!
I would stay here again. We like the location and the hotel is...

My girlfriend & I had decided to start our vacation one day early & check in to the Courtyard JFK. At first I was hesitant, after reading the hundreds & hundreds of negative reviews about the long “Avenue” of hotels just across the way from JFK & neighboring the Courtyard… who in their right mind would even want to stay at an airport hotel?! Besides the TWA Hotel (which we cannot put in this category as it is not along this Avenue of hotels & was much much higher priced), the reviews for the Courtyard had made it worth the expectation.
Once arrived at the Courtyard on that Sunday afternoon, 5/22, after being in a car for two hours worth of traffic, we were welcomed & greeted with smiles. My apologies as I don’t remember names but every single staff member from the front desk to the cleaning crew could not have been more gracious & kind to us…. This is when I stated to myself that vacation has begun LOL!
We were given a King Room on the 9th level (Executive floor) that was overall clean, spacious enough for up to two people, view of the Hampton Inn/side of Belt Pkwy, & bottled water. The room was on a corner & away from the elevators and could not hear a sound in the hallways or neighboring rooms.
We did not partake in the Nosh restaurant on the main level as we had a reservation at a nearby restaurant; however, the food items being served looked delicious with generous portion sizes. Their menu is advertised around the building. We did, however, ordered a drink at the bar before closing and then had the option to purchase more booze via the Courtyard mini-market in their lobby.
Our flight was scheduled for 4:40am and was expecting to be shuttled over at 2:30am but had learned the shuttle service does not run during certain wee-hours of the night. Instead, the front desk manager graciously ordered us a complimentary Uber for the ride over via the hotel.
What more could you ask for?? Please keep in the mind that this is an airport hotel that sees millions of faces throughout the years and is a 24-hour operation. Don’t judge too hard, too quickly. The grounds up front as you pull up were nicely manicured and the rest of the common areas were all clean. This was a short & sweet stay (just over 12 hours) and is the reason why I had downloaded the Bonvoy App. Hope you will enjoy the Courtyard JFK as much as we did!
Thank you all for your kind hospitality & hope to see you again in the near future. Safe...
Read moreLet me begin by saying I ALWAYS look for Marriots first when traveling. This was my first bad experience. I stayed at the courtyard because we had an early flight the next day out of JFK.
First, upon arrival I was told there was no parking. My alternative was to park my car on the street (in queens, not happening) or I could pay a Valet $25 to park my car in a lot up the street. We checked into the room which looked wonderful but on closer inspection we found some pretty gross things like hairs on the wall of the shower, god knows what on the remote and some unusual discoloring on sides of the bed. A this point I didn't say anything because we were tired after a long drive and I just wanted to get something to eat and go to sleep for the early flight.
I went to the front desk and asked the gentleman if someone could pick me up from Long Term parking if I left now and he said absolutely and handed me a Marriott business card and told me to press "0" to ensure someone would pick up right away. He told me to wait for the shuttle under the Air Train stop. I parked my car and went to wait by the air train as instructed. I called the hotel and a woman answered, I explained I was waiting as told and needed to be picked up. She told me that they don't do pickups at long term parking. I explained that I just spoke to someone at the front counter ten minutes ago who told me someone would pick me up. She told me that they could not pick me up and that I needed to take a shuttle or a train to the airport and then take the shuttle back to the hotel, she also told me there are buses I could take. I was FURIOUS! Exhausted ... I called a Lyft car and at the cost of $15 took it back to hotel. I did not approach the counter because I didn't want to make a scene when I got there so I met my girlfriend at the bar to get a drink and something to eat.
We ordered some food ... when it came it was literally food that was frozen and probably heated in a microwave. I didn't care, I was starving ... until I got the bill. The few drinks we had and food came to almost a $170. Absolutely insanely over the top and ridiculous!
One-night stay, frozen microwaved dinner, 3 (maybe 4 I don't remember) watered down drinks, a Lyft ride due to neglect and no parking my total was about $425.
I have used Marriotts for 30 years. I always choose them first because I always enjoyed my visits, this has soured me and I will not be looking for your properties first. I am beyond...
