The service failures at this hotel were appallingly bad. Note to the hotel: Instead of making gift bags and leaving notes with a brownie and bottled water for your guests (then posting signs asking for a "10/10" review), focus first on getting the basics right first. 1. See the posted hotel shuttle schedule below to/from the Staten Island ferry (25 min drive each way)? Keep in mind that they will *only* honor it if the hotel owner doesn't decide to take the van out for personal reasons. Spoke to the GM (Tom) who took down my shuttle reservation request and said he'd call back confirming the pick up. Nope. He called it a day and went home instead, leaving a guest stranded. Spoke to Rob at the front desk when Tom didn't call back, only to hear him state "I don't friggen know what to do here." Verbatim quote. Classy and professional. Had to Uber back to the hotel for $40. And no, the van wasn't in the shop for repairs (as Rob claimed there were seats missing), since it was fine that same morning to the ferry station. 2. A previous reviewer noted that the phones in the rooms are non-functional. I can 100% confirm this (see photo). Whoever constructed the room covered half the phone jack with an immovable, permanently fixed headboard so it would be impossible for the phone to be plugged in. This is a widespread problem. Yet management decides to leave the phones for display purposes only and hopes guests won't notice (??). 3. The location isn't great. Former hotels converted into migrant housing (yes, two) literally next door. And the nearby shopping center has long been abandoned. This remote, desolate corner of Staten Island is no place for a hotel. 4. There is no EV charging station, contrary to the hotel's website. 5. This was an old Holiday Inn converted into a Fairfield.

The Fairfield by Marriott on Staten Island is a great choice for a clean, comfortable, and hassle-free stay. Located near key transportation routes, it provides easy access to the Staten Island Ferry, making it convenient for those looking to explore New York City while staying in a quieter area. The rooms are spacious, modern, and well-equipped, with cozy beds, good lighting, and all the essential amenities you’d expect from Marriott. I appreciated the cleanliness and attention to detail that was evident throughout the hotel, from the lobby to the rooms. Another perk is the complimentary breakfast, which offers a nice variety of hot and cold items, perfect to start the day. The staff here are friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with local tips or any requests. There’s also a small fitness center, which is great for travelers wanting to keep up with their workout routines. Overall, the Fairfield Marriott Staten Island is an excellent base for exploring New York City without being right in the middle of the Manhattan hustle. I would highly recommend it for anyone looking for a comfortable stay, great service, and easy city access.

My first impression of this place was not a good one. Coming into the parking lot, there were people outside smoking and hanging out. I was harrassed by a guy on my way in. And throughout my stay didnt feel comfortable at night in the parking lot. As a woman who travels alone, safety is big for me. I was apparently given an updated room because of my status, and the room was not good. They offered me what they call a "suite" and because I drove from Miami to New york, I took it. Since I'm loyal to Marriott and this was the only Marriott on the island, I stayed here the 3 days. Another guest told me that housekeeping walks in on you despite the privacy sign being up, but I didn't believe it. Well, it happened to me. They advertise 24-hour fitness, but the machines at the gym are all out of service. Netflix didn't work either. The front desk people are very nice but just not the experience I expected. Especially for the price. One of the highest on the island out of all the other hotel chains.

Avoid! Hotel is awful the location is horrendous in the middle of absolutely nowhere not even a shop or restaurant in walking distance we arrived late afternoon and was told we did not have enough time to go into NY and back on the complimentary shuttle I looked for local restaurants and was quoted $80 to go 15 mins to the nearest restaurant.|||| Hotel runs a complimentary shuttle to Staten ferry port but the timings are rubbish and the latest back is 8:30 meaning you have to cut your evening very very short in New York we ended up getting Ubers which was not financially great but we felt like we had no choice as we wanted to spend as much time as possible in the city. If you are taking the shuttle and the ferry across to New York it adds about 1 hr 30mins of travelling each way!!!!! ||||Breakfast was barely edible and the same everyday, nothing fresh all coming out of the kitchen in wrappers no fruit pretty rubbish and your lucky if you can get a table that’s clean! ||||Corridors in hotel stink of weed staff don’t seem to care, clearly men high as kites in reception can’t say I felt safe at all during the stay. ||||Hotel is ok rooms are a good size, however no cleaning/sheet or towel change in the 3 nights we were there despite requesting this. Doors are heavy and therefore all you hear all night. We arrived and didn’t have a remote requested at reception was told this would be sorted returned in the evening and still had no remote went to ask the lady on reception stated ‘what do you want me to do about it’. ||||On our last day we went to book the 8am shuttle to save some money as already spending $100 on an Uber to the airport that day. Was told the shuttle was ‘booked out for a private event’ absolute joke next one wasn’t until 10 which meant we wouldn’t actually be in NY until midday so yet again we paid for an Uber to the ferry port. ||||We checked that there is a luggage room which we were told there was so we checked out and requested our bags to be put in there. The women on reception (who bless her didn’t have a clue) explained we could put them behind the desk. I said this wasn’t good enough as any Tom Dick or Harry could just walk in and take them as it was open access. She went on to explain that it is ‘manned 24/7’ I explained that it is not as we had to wait for her to come to check out. We asked 2/3 times if there was anywhere that our bags could be locked away but the women said there is only her managers office which she did not have access too. After having no other option and not wanting to lug our bags around we just had to go with it but this is totally unacceptable. ||||We returned to collect our bags and we’re just able to walk behind and take the cases so proving my point that anyone could just take them the man on the desk didn’t ask any questions!!! ||||We were quite tight for time as traffic was bad to get to JFK. We asked if there was somewhere to change quickly as we had long flights. Receptionist stated there were toilets we could use. However we waited and waited as they were locked we explained that we couldn’t get in and that we were in a real rush could someone check that the people in the toilet were ok. Receptionist said there was nothing he could do and we just had to wait we were becoming more frustrated having waited 15mins in the end we all used the gym not ideal but had no choice. Explained our concerns to reception that people had been in the toilet that long again not bothered. ||||Overall staff are rude and incompetent, shuttle service is rubbish, hotel is miles away from anywhere, no secure luggage storage and the place stinks of Weed! ||||I will take my concerns further. ||||AVOID...

Stay away from this place for multiple reasons. Don't know where to start but here goes. I travel up and down the East Coast because of work. My company pays for the hotels for each time I travel. When asked where I want to stay in Staten Island I requested the Fairfield Inn by Marriott. Thinking the word Marriott was show pride and prestige. First day checking in was pretty smooth did not feel the customer service was greeting like normal Hotel. Person at the front desk was playing with their cell phone didn't realize that I was standing in front of them. I get checked in go up to the room and noticed right off the bat no microwave in the room and the bathroom overhead lighting was not working. I called the front desk and ask them where is the microwave and report that the light in the bathroom is not working. Customer service advised me that because of covid-19 no rooms have microwaves and that she will put a trouble call for the light. Now I truly don't understand why you cannot have a microwave in the room when once you to check out aren't the room supposed to be thoroughly cleaned all surfaces need to be wiped down the refrigerator needs to be wiped down so why can't a microwave. If I want to use the microwave I have to leave my room and go downstairs to the front desk. I work night shift so I get to the hotel about 5:30 in the morning as soon as I get off the elevator on the second floor the hallway is overwhelmed with the smell of marijuana being burned. You can hear people in one of the room yelling and know this is 5:30 in the morning. I called the front desk and it seems like I was bothering them letting them know that there's people yelling at 5:30 in the morning. I go to the lobby to grab a breakfast bag which contains small bowl of cereal , granola bar, yogurt and a breakfast sandwich that you have to microwave right there in the lobby. Now I've been in this hotel for almost two weeks my light has yet to be fixed, now the only thing I get for breakfast is a bowl of cereal because they tell me that they're waiting on deliveries. The smell of marijuana still in the air not as bad as it was. The cleaning ladies come random times even though I've told the front desk not to clean my room until after 1 pm. Every morning I come in person at the front desk don't even acknowledge me their head is buried in their phone or there no one at the front desk I've been to many mom and pop places where you walk in and they stop what they're doing just to say good morning or hello, is there anything I can help you. A simple greeting to make somebody feel welcome. Now you may be thinking that I'm nitpicking but I'm a firm believer if you're going to pay a high price for low budget performance go somewhere else. If it wasn't for my company already paid in advance for this hotel I would have looked for somewhere else. I have one more day left in this hotel and I can't wait to leave. I hope this...

I’ve stayed at this hotel multiple times before, and I always thought they were professional, clean, and accommodating
until now. After a great New Year’s Eve, I tried to wrap up my night at this hotel, but it turned into an absolute nightmare. I made my reservation via the Marriott Bonvoy app and thankfully found availability when I arrived at 3:45 AM. However, when I tried to check in, I was told I couldn’t check in until later, and there was absolutely nothing the front desk could do about it. This was after a long night, and I was exhausted. I asked when I could check in, and the front desk clerk responded with “probably 2 or 3 PM.”

So, I asked her if I was supposed to sit in my car or wait in the lobby for hours. Her response? “You can pay $530 to get a room right now.” I’m a Gold Member with Marriott Bonvoy, and my wife is pregnant, so sitting in a car or lobby wasn’t an option. I reluctantly agreed to this outrageous price, feeling cornered and taken advantage of.

Fast forward to when I finally checked into my room and got some sleep. Just a few hours later, housekeeping BANGED on our door, waking us both up out of a dead sleep. I explained that I had late check-out, but the housekeeper didn’t care and rudely told me I didn’t have it. She demanded that we leave immediately or face being charged for an extra day. I asked for the front desk to call me, hoping to resolve the issue, but she snapped back, “I am the front desk! YOU HAVE TO GO!”

At this point, I was beyond furious. I went down to the front desk to explain what had happened, and all they did was apologize and tell me the morning staff hadn’t noted my late check-out. They didn’t offer any resolution, and to top it off, they said there was no manager available. So, I was kicked out of my room, humiliated, and left feeling like a complete idiot after paying hundreds of dollars for this mess.

This hotel is a joke. If you want to be treated like a paying customer instead of a burden, avoid this place at all costs. Don’t waste your time or money here. There are plenty of other hotels where they actually know what customer service is. This one is a...
