Schmul Park — Attraction in New York

The old park was a whole lot nicer. A lot more swings, sprinklers, slides, etc., and a lot nicer looking. The rubber that they put down on the ground in this new updated Park version it's falling apart and breaking apart in pieces. I can't imagine that it is safe for children who are rolling around and may stick the pieces in their mouth. I almost twisted my ankle going into the small swing area because the ground is not even anymore.

I don't know what the material is and I don't know what they were thinking. This is not a park for kids this is a park for our politicians to Pat themselves on the back, saying what a wonderful thing they did to build this...

Update: It is 2024 and since 2017, when I first noticed, this playground floor rubber is deteriorating and PARKS seems to pay no mind!!! This playground has a rubbery ground covering which I find a very good idea, but it is in very bad shape. I remember I submitted a repair request through 311 app more than 4 years ago and still nothing has been done till today. The covering is deteriorating bit by bit and becoming a hazard for small kids. The first 6 photos show what I'm talking about. The black spots are where the covering is gone and showing...

It's a nice park. I like that the entire area is covered in a protective rubber padding instead of it being just concrete. There is a bathroom available and when I entered it was well maintained. There are trees that give some shade but not over the swings or slides and on a hot summer day those metal slides are extremely hot to the touch. Good thing they have some sprinklers for the kids to run through...
