TL;DR - 1/5 Would not stay at this hotel again. The bed sheets were either ripped or weren't made with fitted sheets. They also falsely advertised the size of the beds (we booked queen rooms, and the beds were full-sized; the room size was also small). There was smoking on almost every floor, even though a request was made for a non-smoking floor when we initially booked the room. The bathroom door and the door to the room don't lock properly, and the bathroom door and the main door collide with each other if you open both doors at the same time. There's no fan vent in the bathroom, or space to hang towels to dry. No complimentary water provided. There's no parking available at the hotel, so you will need to find street parking. No room service or cleaning unless you go down to the front desk and ask.
The main reason why my family stayed at the hotel was because it was recommended to us by another family member who lived near it. The hotel is also close to the airport that we flew in from, and it sounded promising since the hotel was new; however, once we finally got to the rooms, the hotel left much to be desired.
The Rooms: We booked two queen bedrooms with a special request for a no-smoking floor; however, when we stepped out into the hall, it smelled strongly of weed, and the smell permeated the rooms. The first room had ripped bed sheets, and we had to go down to the front desk to request that they change the sheets. The air conditioning unit in the second room was broken; it only let out heat, and it was unbearable to stay there. The staff were nice enough to change our room free of charge, but there were issues with the new room as well. The deadbolt on the door didn't work, and we informed the front desk of this. They advised us to use the swing bar door lock, which made me feel highly uncomfortable because it signaled a lack of regard for guest safety. The beds in both rooms weren't queen-sized; they were full-sized, which isn't what we paid for. The bed in the second room had a mattress protector, two flat sheets, and a brown fleece blanket—no fitted sheet or comforter to be seen. The sheets were also very thin, which made it cold and uncomfortable to sleep at night. The other person I was staying with was taking medication to help clear their lungs, but due to other guests smoking in their rooms, they ended up going into a coughing fit.
The Bathroom: The bathroom door also didn't lock properly; you could still push or pull the door open even if you turned the lock. There isn't a fan vent to clear up the steam while you're taking a shower, and there's no extra space to hang your towels after you shower.
One-offs: The hotel lacked some amenities that other hotels would have, such as refrigerators stocked with water, and there were no hangers for jackets. The hotel claims to have free parking, yet the lot was full for the entire duration of our stay. The walls between the rooms are thin, and you can hear another guest's entire conversation. You also hear all the noise outside, from the trains to the cars to the people (granted, the hotel can't control this, but it was still disruptive when you're trying to sleep). There's no way to call for room service from the rooms, as there are no numbers written down near the phone. Also, the staff doesn't clean the room unless you request them to do so at the front desk.
Overall, I would avoid staying at this hotel in the future unless some...
Read moreMy experience at the LIV hotel was good. I had a very last minute business trip I had to make to NY for during the United Nations General Assembly annual meeting. Hotel rooms in Manhattan were astronomical. Literally $350 per for a nasty hotel (not doing that). I found this on Expedia, it was around $100 per. The photos looked really good, but we know that means nothing. And it was in the Bronx. I lived in Manhattan 15 years ago and at that time no sane person would consider a hotel in the BX. But I know times have changed so I said WTH book it. I arrived via the 3 train and it is right in a Bronx neighborhood. Having lived in NY before I felt right at home. If you are not used to big city residential this may be too much. But it's full of culture. My white friends, you'll be safe, no one's going to harm you. If you love culture this works. The hotel is very clean. The staff is very accommodating, they switched me out of a smoking room I booked by mistake with no problem. The room is very large, with King bed and oversized bathroom. It had a large smart TV mounted on the wall. It was good. The bed could have been more comfortable but it wasn't terrible. The linens smelled fresh. There was no trash anywhere in the halls or anywhere. The next morning I walked out to go to the elevator and did smell some weed, but I've smelled that many times at the Four Seasons and others. The hotel is very convenient for commuting to the city. 2 blocks from Metro North, the Thruway and 3 blocks from the subway. Overall, it was worth more than the very low price. I'd stay there...

One of the standout features of my stay was the exceptional customer service. A special mention goes to Ben, the receptionist who checked me in. Ben was incredibly warm, friendly, and professional. He went out of his way to ensure that my check-in process was seamless, offering helpful recommendations about local attractions and dining options. His positive attitude truly made a difference, and it’s clear that he takes great pride in providing guests with a...
