My husband and I checked in on the 1st of July thru the 5th, 2016. We've been coming to this hotel for several years and despite the fact that the hookers bring their johns there we thought the hotel was decent.
Our prior visit was in March of 2015, and the conditions weren't bad at all.
So we felt comfortable booking a room for our vacation this year...BIG MISTAKE....I don't know what the hell happened.
There was no table to eat on, no microwave or coffee machine. The chair in the room with the desk was cut up and broken. There was no towels at all in the room. The queen size bed had two small flat pillows on it and thank God we bought our own.
No soap, they did leave a bottle of complimentary shampoo and conditioner. I actually killed two roaches in the bathroom. The linden was dingy.
The TV was half way hanging off the wall and tilted. The channel that were offered was crap.
The next morning the kitchen wasn't open on time. They normally had a decent continental breakfast. There was no toaster to make toast. At one time you could make your own waffles, can't do that anymore.
When you got off the elevator the hallway in the basement is had such a powerful smell of old dirty mop water.
I was so upset I wanted to leave but I couldn't get a room in such short noticed and be charged an arm and a leg. We booked our room ALWAYS far in advance.
To top in off, someone attempted to break into my husband's car right in front of the entrance.
The staff seem to be friendly but clueless. I don't know what happened to this hotel but it's garbage.
They have allow the hookers to ruin the reputation of this hotel and long time patrons like my husband and I can't enjoy and be comfortable in a place that was very convenient for us.
We will never book a room at the Sheridan Exwy...
Read moreThe worst hotel I have stayed at.
I travel A-LOT. Put it this way: for the past 5 weeks, I’ve travelled every single weekend for business. Never before have I stayed at such a filthy and down right nasty place.
When I was checking in, the front desk tried to get me to pay for the room, although it was already PAID FOR, by my client. My client had taken cared of all necessary paperwork when she booked the room. The guy checking me in, insisted I paid again, and would only decide to give up when I called the client.
The room was filthy and dirty! He said it was just cleaned. There were only 2 clean towels in the bathroom. It was almost out of toilet paper and there was a stench.
The shower head broke right off as soon as I touched it.
The phone in the room was not operational.
There was no iron or ironing board in the room...so I went to the front desk requesting one. Person there told me go back to my room, he’ll have one sent. I waited for over half an hour and nothing came. Returned to the front desk only to be told “actually sir, the thing is....we don’t have an iron”. 😳 in the entire hotel, there is not even ONE iron!!! (After I insisted this was unacceptable, they found an almost dilapidated one for me. I was late for my function because it took me three times the normal time to get my clothes ironed).
All night there were noises of doors opening and closing, people noisy in their rooms and banging. I later realized: It seemed to be a popular spot for prostitution. This is very concerning, as I can only imagine what families with young children would feel under such circumstances.
Management needs to step up and address the various concerns at this establishment. I would never stay here again, further, would never recommend ANYONE...
Read moreSometimes in life people have difficult circumstances, and situtions and need to rent a Hotel room for a night or a week on a giving short notice. The Sheridan Hotel was my only option to stay a night under difficult circumstances I can tell you that the front desk guy was polite and professional, but the welcoming area/lobby was a sight from a horrible show to see. There was a "big uncleaned, nasty old sofa" with a cat that rested across the top of that old horrible sofa. The furniture in my room also was old, and stained from enos away, and the bathroom tub did not drain properly leaving a lot to be desire and afraid of, The toliet wasn't a 100% cleaned, and in addition to that there was a "fly" in the room... where it came from I had not one clue. I felt compelled to spent the night with my clothes on never feeling comfortable enought or trusting anything while staying 1 night at the Sheridan Hotel. It needs a lot of work, and the Department of health to come to inspect its unhealthy conditions asap. Maybe because the Sheridan Hotel is in a distant location in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx no official cares about montioring what goes on with the Hotels in the Bronx. Who really cares about people of color services in the poorest of neighborhoods or travelers that don't come from Hunt Point and saw an advertisement billed "Hotel" with amenties and knows nothing of what in stored at the Sheeidan Hotel until you get there.
PS. again this complaint has nothing to do with the night shift guy who works who works the front..Sheridan Hotel management team is solely responsible and the hotel industry for not doing their job for the people in the Bronx and all...
