El PabellĂłn De Oro is a hidden gem that embodies the essence of an old-school neighborhood jointâunpolished, authentic, and bursting with charm. While it might not grace the screen on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives due to its humble, off-the-beaten-path location, thatâs precisely what makes it special. Nestled in the heart of the Bronx, itâs a place that takes me straight back to my childhood. Growing up right around the corner, I remember my dad bringing me to similar spots where the food was unforgettable, and the experience was one-of-a-kindâespecially watching him chat effortlessly with the Chinese waiter in Spanish, a magical blend of cultures that you just donât see everywhere.
The food here is nothing short of fantastic. I had the garlic shrimp with fried rice and tostones, and it was a feast that hit every nostalgic note. My wife and I are huge fans of Chino-Cubano spots, and this one is a standout. Sure, the place could use a little facelift to modernize its appearance, but in a way, its worn-in vibe is part of its charm. If youâre looking for a taste of authentic, no-frills goodness with a side of cultural nostalgia, El PabellĂłn De Oro is...
Read moreMy family decided to go to a restaurant that serves both Spanish and Chinese cuisine. My extended family on my dad's side all came together to dine and catch up. I got the chance to meet ten more members of the family and reconciled with my half-siblings (I consider them my full siblings). My siblings and I share a common bond in relation to our dad, making us understand one another. In the meantime, the food was excellent, and I cannot believe how the succulent steak, baked chicken and spiced shrimp was done, with the lo mein perfectly placed in metal plates. After the family was done dining, the staff, without us asking, provided free dairy for the children (my nephews and nieces). Overall, the atmosphere was so lively and agreeable that I could go there again to get that home vibe. The restaurant only accepts cash, but an ATM is right on the corner of the place, and there are multiple other ATM's and banks across the street from the place. I would go there for the food and warm...
Read moreâSo, lemme tell yâall about this place right here. I went one time with my girls to grab some lunch. Iâm thinking, âAight, basic Chinese food,â but nahhhh, this ainât your basic Chinese food; itâs different!! The steak and shrimp fried rice was sooo good. I mean, they seasoned it like somebodyâs auntie with the fat arm was back there, do you hear me??!! Slappin!!! The iced tea even hit different. Iâm not even over-exaggerating. And you can order the sesame chicken and not be scared if itâs other meat⊠iykyk. Now, the service could be better if itâs the old guy; he acts like he doesnât even want to give you bread, and itâs hella good as well. Also, let me not forget, the food comes out quick, so youâre probably only getting one serving anyway đ. Overall, awesome. I wish I could give them 10 stars⊠for...
