It's been two years since I stayed here before this most recent stay and won't try again for another two years. ROOM: very clean and what looks like new paint and floors but furniture needs updated badly. The head board fell off when I got in bed. Wood from entertainment peels off. The TV is outdated SERVICE: Breakfast less than mediocre - B&G and Oatmeal are the only warm foods. Low grade quality brand yogurt. Only orange juice - no chocolate milk. Country Inn breakfast WAY better. I see way more variety at other hotels in Norfolk. The pool had fecies for 12 hours until Easter morning. I booked a room here to enjoy the hot tub which is now gone. When my pop was stuck in the vending machine, Tonya helped get the pop out by putting in two dollars for another one falling out, so I could receive mine. Tonya was kind and said I could have that 2nd sprite for free adding, "if it was Dr. Pepper I probably would have kept it." We both laughed. However, the next day ONLY the sprite went up in price and the Dr. Pepper remained the same. On my last day there I extended for only one more day because I got very sick. Lead houskeeper came to my door at 10:45am and after letting her in my room, she seemed more concerned about me signing papers for the extra night I already paid for than my room being cleaned because she never came back and I never refused services. In fact, all weekend there was no housekeeping because of low staff, so for my standards, I desperately wanted new sheets and the room to have a wipe down. I had gone to front desk at 2pm and all housekeeping was gone. Rachel at the front desk, didn't ask me if I needed anything after telling me housekeeping was gone for the day. I did request new sheets and changed my own. All front desk staff members seem to have good appearance and polite but no eagerness or motivation to solve issues. After seeing poop in the pool for five hours, I told front desk and she had not a clue about it, when I had just seen her getting something from vending machine which are right by the pool, that's how I noticed it. The issue was still not taken care of until maintaince clocked in the next day on Easter.
LOCATION: When I look out my hotel window, I see a BUNCH of trash outside and an abandon fun center that's falling apart and overgrown by weeds and trash.Only ONE picnic table outside to sit outside.
Jacklyn (housekeeper) is amazing! She doesn't speak English but she won't give up on trying to understand what ur wanting and she seemed be consistent the two times she cleaned my room. The management didn't seem too interested in working out a deal for weekly stays. After my one week was up my mother paid online for another weekly stay. When I approached manager about possibly granting me a free night due to paying full online weekly rate, she offered only 10 dollars off that's IF I did decide to stay another additional day. When in fact, I did then request another day, but no discussion of 10 was taken off or brought up by her, I felt like they didn't want me here but unsure why. Also, Tonya seemed to be overly involved with why or for how long I will be staying or maybe it was just how she approached and asked me that rubbed me wrong, it came off tacky and more nosey rosey than actual concern or wanting to know for business reasons. At one time, she literally asked me after a week of staying here, if I was moving in. My mother and other family members live in Norfolk. My mom runs a tax company that I help with during tax season. We will NOT be recommending this place to anyone. Today, is my last night and I am staying at another location that is cheaper and better.
Country Inn, super 8, and Eco-Lux management is always willing to make a deal with weekly rates(more than 10 dollar difference) staff is not overly involved in who u are and what ur doing and why ur staying, housekeeping is great and staff always willing to accommodate you or to solve the issue.
I might try again staying at this hotel in a couple more years but this hotel will remain a no for...
Read moreThis place was incredible when it came to customer service. We got stranded in Norfolk when we were on a roadtrip to pick up our puppies.
I will start with the esthetics of the place.
The rooms were very nicely sized and set up. Clean and comfortable. They have been renovating the place and are doing a great job. I told the front desk the first night that it was really smart of them choosing flooring that was not carpet given the amount of foot traffic and difficulty to thoroughly clean carpets. I saw them still making renovations but it did not interfere with me or my family.
Now, I will discuss the hospitality and customer care they provided. This is what makes The New Victoria Inn worth staying at.
The staff is so helpful and kind. When we arrived they were very helpful in welcoming us and accommodating a last minute booking because our car was about to break down. The lady at the front desk played with our new puppies and asked if she could give them a treat. This was very comforting given our current situation and how bitterly cold it was when i took them out for a walk. When our car was not fixed before our scheduled checkout I asked for a late checkout and they provided it. After they still couldn't fix the car I asked them if I could extend our checkout and they did it without an issue. They even asked me how long I would need and to just keep them updated. It turned out the mechanics needed a part that was 2 weeks out so we extended our stay one more night. The next morning we planned on taking an uber or lyft to get a rental car. Unfortunately uber and lyft are not really an option there. The staff saw that we had checked out and moved all our stuff to the reception area and asked if we had found a ride. I told them I was still working on it and they went out of their way to give me options to call. Once we realized that the earliest taxi would take about 1:30-2:00 hours they made sure my kids were comfortable until they arrived. I travel a lot and this is easiest the best experience I have had. The staff is what will make this place successful. The big chains cannot compare to the customer care they provided.
Also they have a really good spread for breakfast.

Read moreI have been staying in this motel in various rooms for over 2 years at least every other month. I would say I'm qualified to submit a review you can trust. I don't and won't stay anywhere else in Norfolk, period. It is clean, clean, CLEAN thanks to the incredible housekeeping staff headed up by Tanja, who also doubles as a front desk agent assisting Amy and others in taking care of YOU!|They haven't declared war on light as the rodeway inn down the street did to hide their scum on every surface you touch. New Victorian rooms SPARKLE and are brightly lit so that you can see it!|They also haven't declared war on water like the IHG down the street did to give you as little as possible for your money, in the name of environmentalism. New Victorian rooms have plenty of water! |Don't allow window dressing on fancier motels to fool you because they screw you on the stuff that really counts. I am telling you hands down this is the best motel in Norfolk for you to stay at for your money. Prior to 2 years ago I stayed at all the rest unfortunately, and the health department needs to visit and close one that I've mentioned.|The new Victorian in Norfolk saved me one time from that squalor and I will be forever grateful. So save yourself the trouble in Norfolk and START HERE instead of ending up here!|Yum on the biscuits and...
