I wouldn't consider myself a frequent traveller, but I've travelled enough to know a good hotel experience from a bad one, and this was, by far, the worst hotel experience of my life, for a multitude of reasons.
Some important context: we initially booked six nights here but ended up booking a seventh as we had a very late flight and didn't want to be wandering the city for 10 hours, just trying to kill time. I messaged the hotel to confirm if we could stay in our room instead of having to check out/in again for that final night and was told that wouldn't be a problem, that we could just stay in the room. Fantastic.
Despite that initial, pleasant (albeit virtual) interaction with the staff, as soon as we stepped foot in the hotel, it was clear we had made a terrible mistake.
First impressions were poor. The elevator looked and sounded like it was on its last legs, and our hallway reeked of cannabis all the way down. Our room itself wasn't much better, with duct-taped wall decor and sneakily filthy carpet. It was OK to look at, but the bottoms of our feet were black by day's end.
When night fell, we were serenaded by the sounds of a man next door screaming "YO! YO! YO!" at seemingly no one and blasting music. This continued for 2-3 nights, unchecked by staff. Another neighbour left their TV on all night, running wonderful infomercials, which we could hear very clearly. The soundproofing at this place is, quite literally, non-existent.
It gets worse. Remember that extra night we booked? How we were told we could just stay in the room and not have to check out/in again? Well, someone didn't get the memo, because when we returned to our room on the seventh day, to rest and prepare for that late flight, our room had been cleaned out. Everything was gone -- our food, luggage, clothing, kids' toys, toiletries ... everything.
When I went to the front desk to politely ask where all our stuff had wandered to, I was first told I hadn't paid for the extra night (lie) and that I hadn't checked in again (true, but this had been cleared already). The staff then blabbered amongst themselves about a co-worker who screwed up and didn't check the computer or whatever (who cares).
Eventually, I shut the conversation down and had them direct me to my belongings, which had been left out back, on a trolley, exposed to the elements (thankfully, it hadn't rained). I had to roll everything back in myself, no apology, no nothing, and verify that everything was still there, all while trying to prepare for our flight still.
Kudos to the honest cleaning staff for keeping everything (except the food) -- they are the only positive in this whole ordeal -- but it blows my mind that no one tried to call me or even check the computer, to piece together what was going on. We could have been dead, for all they knew, but not one person in this circus showed a modicum of compassion or interest in our well-being. I know if I walked into a room that was supposed to be empty and saw a bunch of stuff still there, I would be very confused and would be calling all my coworkers, trying to figure things out.
Just to add to the stress of that final day, my son then decided to lock us out of the bathroom, with some of our belongings still inside. Begrudgingly, I had to return to the front desk, to ask for the door to be unlocked. The staff didn't have a tool to unlock the door (first time?) and thought it pertinent, after all that had just transpired, to mention that they had received some complaints about our children running around the room and making too much noise. How convenient. It was pretty clear that, after their massive blunder, they were trying to gaslight us and make it out like we were trouble guests. I guess we should have brought cages for our kids in anticipation of the hotel's total lack of soundproofing. For sure, we were the problem.
Sometimes, saving a few bucks isn't worth it. Don't stay here, especially if you're travelling with kids. There is not one redeeming quality...
Read moreThe hotel right when you walked into the lobby smelled horrible. I'm not much of a stricter for rooms, you get what you payed for, but it was dingy in the early morning, and looked so dirty, nothing like the pictures. It reeked of weed and cigarettes... worse of all they had a toddler behind the counter... and his bottle next to the computer they use to check you in. I been trying to get a refund, and they refuse because of their polices. I would have never booked if I knew what I was getting into. Having that toddler breathing in that second hand smoke is shameful. Staff was also beyond rude. After I saw the kid, I tried to be reasonable with myself and ask to see the room I will be staying in before fully checking in, the staff member took her sweet time to show me. She was too busy talking it up with the security guard who was too busy leaning over the front desk counter instead of idk... doing his job? When she opened our room the trash bag from the cleaning crew was still there and she just laughed it off, the room was decent since I requested a non smoking room it smelled slightly better, but l worked in motels before... I can tell when they just wash the sheets and not actually replace them if they have tough stains. The drawers also didn't seem to close all the way. When I got to the front desk counter again, I immediately wanted to be refunded but they couldn't because I had to go through my booking site. And now my booking site is saying they can't because of Hotel Jefe refund polices! Been debating if i should report that there was a toddler behind the front desk to Las Vegas health department because I been trying to be understanding in the whole situation (maybe they needed childcare), but I had it with...
Read moreWorst hotel experience ever. Ever! House keeping was fine, no bugs, plenty of hot water. No place to hang a towel, no hangers, no coffee maker, no hairdryer Walls and floors are paper thin. We got put next door to a loud television and beneath 2 very happy children. We hadn't dirtied anything so they moved us, but it wasn't a good move. Next room had a broken tv. Literally broken, and the remote didn't work. Office offered to trade remotes, but then stated that all the remotes were keyed to specific TVs, so how was trading remotes going to help? It didn't. They traded the tv out the next day, so the screen wasn't broken any more, but the remote still didn't work. They kept asking if the sensor was blocked. The volume worked, but nothing else. For the next 2 days we would leave, telling them our TV didn't work. We would come back to a turned on tv with a working remote. So we would turn it off, but later when we turned it back on it would not work again. Maybe there was a trick to get it working, but they didn't tell us what it was. On the evening of day 3 the TV finally worked reliably. The morning of day 4, which was check out day, the neighbor turned on their TV so loud we thought it was in our room, at 6:30 am. The refrigerator rack was missing. The non-smoking room is smelled like smoke. Twice they told us security would quiet neighbors. Security never showed up. And they shouldn't have to quiet happy children anyway. The hotel wasn't so full that they couldn't space the occupied rooms out. They say you get what you paid for, but I've paid a lot less and gotten much more. At this point they'd have to pay me to come back. This could go on and on and on. ...
