I really enjoyed the Residence Inn from making the reservation, to check in, to the luxurious bed and comfortable couch and great kitchenette to the great bathroom accommodations and the list goes on. The staff was fantastic. Jennifer was so very helpful with making my reservations and providing me with a great deal on my lengthy stay and we always appreciate when we can save money while enjoying a very beautiful and upscale hotel. And it was so nice to meet her in person during our stay as she treated us like family. She was a beautiful person inside and out and she was very experienced at her job. Armana (not sure of name spelling) was a great welcome check in staff member and we enjoyed her bubbly personality. Both of these young ladies are great assets to the Marriott, but I'm sure you already know that. The housekeeping ladies went out of their way to speak to us and offer us supplies and we specifically asked to not have our room cleaned for our entire eight night stay as my husband doesn't like people in his space so we asked them to hold off on cleaning and we did our own cleaning during our stay. My point is that housekeeping respected our wishes yet made special efforts to make sure that we didn't run out of toilet paper or lotion or whatever else we may have needed. Especially Nicole Stanford. She was so respectful to my husband and I and always made eye contact with us and offered words of encouragement. Again, the Marriott staff was acting like our family away from home. The kitchen cook was always so sweet so me and she always came out of the kitchen and into the service area and greeted me. There goes that family feeling again that Marriott keeps exuding towards its guests. I would like to offer a suggestion that maybe you switch up the scrambled eggs every other day to cheesey egg omelettes. Since you always offer boiled eggs, there is always an egg substitution for the guests that may not like the omelettes. Just a suggestion that I have noticed at other hotels I have frequented over the past years. I really enjoyed the cleanliness of your hotel property both inside and out. It was immaculate, including the stairwell. I walk several miles every day to control my chronic back pain and since it was so very cold in the Hammond area, unlike Louisiana, I had to do my speed walking in your halls and stairwell and it was perfect because it was well maintained at all times. We received great assistance with our Roku from...
Read moreWe stayed at this hotel after a long day of delayed flights, arriving around 10 P.M. Unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing.
Upon entering the property, we noticed some minor cleanliness issues in the lobby, but we brushed it off since it was late. The check-in staff were polite and welcoming, which we appreciated. However, as we walked through the hallways, we saw stained carpets and overall unclean conditions.
When we got to our room, it was evident that it had been cleaned in a rush. There were stains on the walls, crumbs in random spots, and even broken toys left behind. The biggest issue came when we opened the sofa bed for our youngest child. The mattress was in terrible condition—it had water-like stains, what looked like blood stains, crumbs, and a damp, unpleasant smell. It was completely unusable.
We immediately contacted the front desk, but since the hotel was sold out, they only offered to send someone up to clean. My child was so upset he refused to sleep on the sofa bed, and ended up sharing the bed with us for the two nights we stayed. The next morning, I requested either a room change or some additional bedding, but was told there were no extra blankets or pillows available.
Breakfast was another letdown. While complimentary, the food quality was poor—items like cinnamon sticks and sausage patties were frozen in the middle, suggesting they were microwaved. When we raised our concerns, the staff apologized but did not take any further action.
Although the staff were courteous, the overall condition of this hotel and lack of solutions to very real problems made our stay extremely uncomfortable. Management needs to take serious steps to improve cleanliness, maintenance, and guest support. Sadly, we will not...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Residence Inn and had an extremely disappointing experience.
Renovation Notice: I was informed a day before my stay that most of the property, including the pool and gym, was under renovation. They offered to cancel my reservation without a cancellation charge, which is ridiculous considering the short notice and the hassle of finding a new hotel last minute.
No Complimentary Water: Upon checking into my room, I noticed there was no complimentary water bottle provided. When I asked the front desk, the staff implied it was my responsibility to request it. This is basic hospitality, and the attitude was unprofessional.
Horrible Smell: One day, there was a terrible stinky smell in the elevator and the entire reception area, making it unbearable to stand there. It was disgusting and unacceptable for a hotel environment.
Terrible Breakfast Experience: Residence Inn is known for its breakfast, but it was a disaster. There was hardly any food available, and the lady in charge was extremely rude. She refused to refill items and started packing everything up 30 minutes early, claiming she had stopped cooking.
Parking Issues: The parking area had no marked lines, causing confusion. To top it off, another guest's family yelled at my daughter when her car door lightly touched theirs. They falsely claimed it caused damage, which it didn't. It was an unpleasant confrontation that the hotel staff did nothing to manage.
Terrible Housekeeping: The room was never cleaned during my stay, and fresh towels were never provided despite my requests on all three days. The staff's lack of responsiveness and care was unacceptable.
Overall, it was a horrible experience, and I would never recommend this hotel to...
