Montego Bay Resort — Hotel in North Wildwood

I’m giving two stars simply for the fact that the woman at the check in counter for the water park was sweet and did her job as for the rest I can honestly say I am extremely disappointed. I can not speak for the hotel rooms we did not stay. We were here for a birthday party for my great niece. She had her party at the water park. The bathrooms were filthy and most of the staff except for the check in woman were incompetent and inattentive. My nephew nearly drowned he was there with his babysitter and she took her eyes off him. Her fault yes but what happened after was on the staff. I saw four lifeguards there one at the top of the slide slouched back on his phone not paying any attention to anything. Another on the bar side by the bottom of the slide with headphones in his ears also playing on his phone. This being where my three year old nephew went in to the pool (with a life jacket on) being drug under by slide current and catching his neck on the pool divider rope. Luckily my niece saw and jumped in to rescue him as not 1 of the four lifeguards moved or noticed my nephew nearly drowned. The other two lifeguards one on the west side by the window before you go up to the slide steps flirting with girls and not paying attention to the pool. The fourth I saw come in later with his life saver and walked up to the one at the bottom of the slide on the bar side to talk, crack jokes and sword fight with their lifesavers. It is apparent they need to be retrained in the importance of their job and in what they should be doing while working. My daughter was a lifeguard at a pool and was not allowed devices while on duty or friends while on duty or to slouch and half sleep while on duty had she done this she would have been fired as you are there in case an accident happens as it did. I will give you this yes my nephews sitter was negligent however accidents happen and that is why there are supposed to be people in place for exactly that reason. In this case those people did not do their job and were not trained or monitored enough for anyone to know they weren’t doing their job. I wouldn’t rely on anyone to watch my kids for me but if an accident occurs I would hope they were there to prevent such an occurrence from becoming a tragedy. Thank God for my niece and her quick response or this review may have been another type of review and a sad one at that. As for the bar the bartender was rarely behind the bar the food and drinks were overpriced and sub par and the girl was a bit rude. The lifeguards also let little children in to the hot tub for long periods of time as young as one year old and nothing was said about it which can kill a child. I can’t say at this point I would recommend this waterpark to anyone. I again can not speak for the hotel or the rooms as I did not stay here but until they straightened things up and retrained their staff I would never take my kids here again. I have mixed reviews for this location. It's in Wildwood and my family and I have stayed in various hotel/motels and air b &b's in Wildwood over many years. Montego Bay Resort was challenging . Staff was nice on the phone and upon check in. Our family booked many rooms. I had the Family Ocean View. It was on the first floor and many of our family members had similar rooms. I requested a lower floor because my sister has mobility issues and this would accommodate her needs. My room in particular was very dirty upon arrival. I was sketchy about the bedroom it looked dingy and outdated. The bed wasn't made up properly, as the sheets were not fitted but flat sheets laid across the bed. The kitchen looked as though someone spit in the sink and left it. There was blood next to the toilet in the bathroom, it was pretty nasty. I cleaned what I could not trying to complain too much and take away from the festive event of our family reunion. The next day there was a leak over my sister's bed and we called the desk and someone was sent to check it out. We were told someone had taken a shower and didn't close the curtains and when the shower was finished the leaking would stop. The bed linens were changed as the water had not yet seeped into the mattress. This worked for a little while, but after that the leak dripped all night and the next day and night and my sister was unable to sleep in her bed. We had to sleep together in one full sized bed. The gentleman at the front desk said there was nothing he could do, he was alone. Our stay was until Monday and this was Saturday and so my sister and I slept in one double bed for 2 nights of our 3 night stay. My cousin also had a problem when she opened the sofa bed the bed fell apart and the mattress was filthy. My cousin had to sleep on the floor her first night. The next evening her bed was switched out. Upon checkout I spoke with the manager to see what could be done. We didn't get what we paid for. She offered me back $50 dollars. I accepted it because our chartered bus was ready to leave, or I would have tried to reason with the manager for a fair credit. I think one night accommodation would have been fair. I won't say my stay at the Montego Bay family Resort was horrible. I was with my family. We always have a blast together, The location is great, near the boardwalk. There is a water park that the kids enjoyed. The rooms could be updated and cleaner. This is my main complaint about Montego Bay resort. Perhaps because it's the beginning of the season and we were a large group the staff wasn't prepared, We booked way in advance so they should have been. I had other family who stay on the 4th,5th, and 6th floor who had lovely accommodations. You wouldn't have believed it was the same motel. If Montego Bay Resort updated and cleaned better I'd stay again. As it was in a great location. Then again there are other motels in...

Really wish I read the reviews before booking. I'm going to start off by saying i know we went on the off season and did not expect everything to be perfect with less staff.Traveled with 2 adults 4 kids. Booked the 2 double bed, queen sofa sleeper room. When we pulled out the sofa sleeper we where beyond shocked and disgusted! The first thing we saw was the horribly stainted mattress. Honestly not sure if someone got murdered on there ( yes being dramatic) or if someone pooped their pants on the bed either way there was 0 chance we where going to let the kids sleep on that mattress. Well it also ended up being broken! How do you miss that! How do you put people in that room! ||We immediately went down to the front desk and showed the gentleman the pictures of the bed and how disgusting that mattress was. No apologies at all for the horrible condition of the bed. He said "well I don't have anyone here to send to fix it so you will have to switch rooms" ||Why in the world would you think it's acceptable for a person to sleep on that mattress!! He just dismissed the condition of it and would have sent someone to fix it if they where working.||So we get the key to the new room, check the pull out couch. No stains and not as broken to the point you can't sleep on it. The top of the frame was sagging in so the top half of your body would be lowered the rest of your body. At this point it was after 730pm and we needed to get food ordered for the kids so we said screw it we will make this work. And Honestly if we went down and said something about the bed I don't think it would have matter. The mattress was beyond uncomfortable. You felt very single spring hitting your back! We ended up having to pull it off the frame and put it on the floor to with the couch cushion under it to make it sleepable for the night.||The TV in the living room wouldn't content to Netflix or anything. I did ask about that and the guy told me that we could only watch regular TV and we needed to get the correct input on. We tried and nothing worked so we where out a TV.||In the morning we realized there was puke on our balcony that we were sitting right next to without knowing. The hotel was empty so when was that puke even from!||This was the first and last time I will ever stay at this place! Not worth the money at all and the fact that thr staff think a mattress that's looks like someone died on it is acceptable for people to sleep on is NOT a place i would spend my money on. I DO not recommend this place! It's sad because it could have alot a potential. The rooms sizes are nice and it's right on the boardwalk. Maybe the owners will actually real all their horrible reviews and fix...
