I just read a review that the hotel owner ran it like a boot camp, nothing in that review is true. There was an extremely loud group there who caused a lot of issues and was asked to leave. They were from what I understand even refunded their money. You can hang wet items on the chairs Infront of your room just be neat about it, you can not hang anything on the pool railing and you’re allowed out of your room past ten. I sat outside every night past ten but I was respectful. you just can’t act like loud drunken idiots out of respect for the other guest. It’s a family motel. The staff will go above and beyond for you as long as you are within reason. You are asked to not have more than one car as it’s one car per room but they do have parking passes to park elsewhere. I have seen family’s with many children with them of all ages and they were not confined to certain rooms. No one sits and watches the cameras like hawks, I mean maybe if your an issue yourself and cause problems …then I would too out of safety for the other guests. Jim i believe his name is works somewhere else durn the day and comes right to the motel and works there with his amazing family. If you want to party like a drunken fool and be loud while others are trying to put their young kids to bed after 10pm this is not the place for you. The motel gives off a warm family oriented vibe, the staff is beyond amazing, especially their one employee Matt who helped me and my boyfriend out a few times. He is so personable as is the rest of the staff and i never seen him or anyone else not working hard. The owners are just so friendly and really want you to enjoy yourself while feeling safe. And safe I felt. This is my second year staying here and I already booked with them for the following year. There are guest who have been coming every year and we have become friends with a few who were there the last two years while we were. The motel is very clean, on site washer and dryer. I have never seen a pool so clean. I mean not a speck of dirt on the bottom or top. The beds are actually very comfortable and clean. Only issue is and it’s so small .. on rainy days or later at night there may be times that the wifi doesn’t work as well. As everyone is trying to use it. But there’s regular tv you can watch with all your normal channels. This place has become like a second home. Also learned that you can walk down the street to the beach instead of having to worry about finding parking and paying to park, just follow the path under the boardwalk ( small path )and you will hit steps that take you right to beach. The grills are ridiculously clean for how many people use them, and there is a designated smoking area away from other guest especially the kids. As for the no cooking seafood, I’m not a big sea food eater but if you are you know that smell is almost impossible to make go away. It’s more a respect thing so future guest don’t have to smell your left over seafood stench. Plus anyone who may be severely allergic. Besides there are so many great places to go and get seafood so I don’t see why this rule would...
Read morePositives: Room was clean upon arrival, AC worked, staff was very friendly, helpful whenever we needed, pool was nice! Provided amenities were as expected, microwave and fridge both worked. Location is one block from the boardwalk, it’s probably about a mile total from your room to the ocean. Negatives: Room was not very big, and the bathroom was unbearably tiny. There was not enough room to dry off after a shower. The TV was tiny and the remote barely worked. The ceiling fan creaked loudly if on anything other than the lowest setting. The toilet would clog if you used more than a few sheets of toilet paper, and that’s not an exaggeration. This all would’ve been manageable if the price reflected it, but I paid almost $1000 for a 5 day stay, and it was after Labor Day so it wasn’t peak season at all. There was only one busy day while I was here. The place desperately needs updating to make the space decent. You can’t change the layout obviously at this point, but take some time in the off season and do some upgrades, put in better TV’s, new ceiling fans, fresh coat of paint, make what you’ve got better at least. Basically, at less than $100 a night the Florentine would be acceptable, but any more than that and you should look elsewhere in my opinion, given it’s...
Read moreDO NOT, let the good reviews of this motel make you think the florentine is the place for you. If you're 75+ this is perfect. Jim, the manager and former marine, runs the place like a boot camp with "quiet time" starting at 10 meaning you cannot be outside of your room! Because our party included teenagers we were purposely put in the corner area of the motel which had no view or chairs out front of the room, keep in mind the vacancy sign was lit our whole stay. There is NOT enough parking for the amount of rooms and spaces are tight. The elevator is old, rickety and almost got stuck with only 4 people in it. The pool is very small for the amount of guests. There were cameras everywhere that Jim watches you on constantly, making sure you don't break a rule. You aren't allowed to turn your fridge to the cold setting. You aren't allowed to have seafood in your room AT ALL, and if you wanted to cook it on there grills, good luck because they're dirty. You can hang anything, (towels, bathing suits, etc.) to dry anywhere. There is nowhere inside the rooms to hang clothing. DO NOT STAY HERE if you want a...
