The only good thing about this dirty, dump was the location which is easy access to the beach. I don't even know where to begin, so lets start from the beginning. Check in at 3:00 pm. I arrived 10:30 am. The owner Marguerite informs me that even though she had collected my deposit, she almost gave away my room because she was having difficulty running my credit card. (I had gotten a replacement credit card due to original being lost.) I explained this, and we settled the bill. I asked her why she would rent my room when she had a deposit and I had not even check in as of yet. NO Reply. Why would you even run my card, before I checked in? No answer. So, to keep calm, I go about my day, come back later in the afternoon, to find my room NOT cleaned. I wish I had taken pictures to post. I bring the issue to the owner, Marg, who was rude and simply did not care. I had to ask a different cleaner to come to my room and view it as proof because Marg refused to leave the desk to come look herself. Marg was rude to me, a paying guest. It's bad enough this outdate motel was EXPENSIVE, but unclean is unacceptable. Marguerite took no accountability. She literally, did not care. On top of this, the room smelled musty. I spoke to her daughter about it and the answer was "that is why a diffuser in the room and a snuggle deodorant, it's the beach." It may be the beach, but the musty smell is something else. That should have been disclosed upfront. Unbelievable. I will be very honest. I will NEVER stay there again and I DO NOT recommend this place. I would give it a no stars for review. One star is too...
Read moreWe usually rent, but decided we needed a (last-minute) 4-night getaway. I chose this motel solely based on its location. We always stay as close to the beach and the boardwalk as possible. It's your typical vintage beach motel that is well-maintained. We had a two-room beachfront room; 2 queens, sofabed, dining table, kitchenette. The bathroom was old but clean. The bath towels are supplied, but they're smaller than most people use today. We didn't cook, but we brought K-cups and used the single-serve Keurig. We brought paper plates, cups, plastic utensils, napkins, and a roll of paper towels. Toilet paper is provided. The kitchen tools were not as nice as I would have liked; it was a minimal supply, and the utensils were old and dirty. I needed to deduct a star because one of the queen beds had sand grit between the sheets. I have a feeling that the previous guests made it appear like they only used one bed, so the cleaning lady definitely did not put on new linens and did not check or clean the unit thoroughly. I cleaned it myself as well as the flooring. I could have used a new broom and dustpan, though. We did not use the grill area, but the sundeck and pool were great. Most people we spoke with expressed that the pool hours should be extended - at least from 8 to 9. But I would rather have an hour for adults only. Most of the pool is too deep for me to stand in, and the low end is always crowded with kids so an hour midday and maybe the last hour before closing would be appreciated for...
Read moreWe have been coming to WIldwood for many years and have stayed here before,(years ago) along with 2 other hotels, so we knew what to expect. As stated the staff is very nice and welcoming, but really, that is were it ends. Although the room was "clean" the pillow cases had small stains on them, one had what appeared to be blood the other looked like grease and the bed sheets were also stained. I get that this is a old hotel but this is unacceptable! By the time we got to bed the office was closed so we turned the cases inside out. (the room was the Type 2- 2 room suite.) The bedroom was so small that there was no side table on either side of the bed just barley enough room to walk. The foldout table, the support was broke so we had to prop it up onto the couch to keep the table up. Our adult kids had the room beside us (same type of room) the toilet paper holder had duck tape holding it together and didn't work so the toilet paper was on the floor. Also the air condition is in the bedroom (window unit) and it is TREMENDOUSLY loud. I'm not sure what was remodel but definitely not the two rooms we had. In the past we had stopped staying at this hotel because we found one nicer in every way and in the same price range and location.(but they were booked) If we had paid 80 bucks a night I wouldn't complain ,you get what you pay for...However at 215.00 a night I expect things to be clean and in working order. note to self..book early...
