From 2016-2018, we camped at “Hid’n Pines Family Campground”. Originally starting off as tenters, we returned the next year in our airstream to do a six week spring deal which we did in 2017 and 18. After 2028, we made the difficult choice of becoming seasonal’s at a different campground in NH to be close to work and family. After two seasons at their campground we couldn’t take it anymore and knew we had to go back to Hid’n Pines. We came back as seasonal’s this time and are so glad we did! ||||The campground is under new ownership by a company called “Sun RV Resorts” which has bought three other campgrounds in Old Orchard Beach and one in Saco. The narrow 8 foot pool which I believe wasn’t heated has been removed and replaced with a wide 6 foot heated pool. A hot tub and splash pad, which were not there before have been added to the pool area. There is an old, but in good condition basketball court which was always next to the playground which was always next to the playground. But this year there was a new playground! Also new this year was was movie nights, bands and a community fire pit! ||||The campground is approximately a 1/4 mi to beach, but there is a trolley stop at the campground. Also new this year is cabins. Some things to at have stayed the same are having your own personal fire pit, the store (which was added a few years ago and replaced the game room) and WiFi.||||Being a seasonal was a different experience, but a successful one. I love our new fifth-wheel, we had a small yard space for our dog, we could fit a gazebo in the yard, had a driveway and a shed to store things.||||We made many friends during our stay and explored many new places with them.||||Location is perfect and near everything. We didn’t use the trolley this year, as we found everything was a short walk or car drive away. ||||The seasonal party at the end of they year was the best with a food truck, cake and hilarious comedians.||||My only complaints are that the campground WiFi is really slow. We had to get are own modem to be able to use WiFi. Another complaint is at the beginning of the season. A kid a few sites up from us was running around the campground near our site watching us, screaming, scaring our dog and hitting our property. Thankfully this only happened one weekend and never again and did not ruin our time here. ||||I can’t wait...
Read moreThis campground is beautiful. The sites are small but clean and well maintained.
The location is perfect for an Old Orchard Beach vacation. There is a trolley stop at the gate and it’s only a 15 minute walk to the beach and a ten minute drive to Funtown Splashtown.
The price is super high. We paid over $1500 for three sites for 4 nights. We understand that prices are high in OOB in august but for those prices washrooms should be clean.
The bathrooms were cleaned once a day at 9am. They were gross for the rest of the day. The showers didn’t drain because of hair in the drain and there was dirt and hair everywhere. My 9 year old cried when she needed to use the shower.
The kids loved the pool and splash pad. It was a great way to end busy days. We stayed for 4 nights and used the pool every evening.
My 5 year old loved the playground. Our campsite was right across from the playground which was a perfect location for him to go there while I was puttering at the site. It was noisy in the evenings because teenagers hung out at the playground every night until after midnight.
On the 4th night we had gotten back from a full day at the beach. Everyone in our group (8 adults and 9 kids) went to the pool before dinner. The kids were overtired and rambunctious. The lifeguard kicked our 15 year old out of the pool and pool area. Which would have been fine. But he continued to yell in her face when she was arguing that she didn’t break the rules. Whether she broke the rules or not no adult should treat children that way. We did not have an issue with any other lifeguard on the other 3 days.
We complained at the office, they did not understand why we were upset or apologize for yelling at children. They said they would have the manager review the tapes in...
Read moreMy husband and I booked here opening weekend for a weekend away. We live approximately 1 hour south of OOB, so it was close enough to get there quickly to maximize the weekend, but far enough away to feel like we were getting out of dodge. The campground was pretty quiet, which we anticipated for it still being spring. The grounds are clean and well-maintained, every staff member we encountered was friendly and helpful, the restrooms and shower facilities were clean. We can't speak for a lot of the summer activities (pool, etc) d/t them still being closed, with good reason considering it was only around 60 this weekend. The one thing we had some trouble with was the campsite we chose. We booked #53 that was a pull-through. The issue is that we have a decently sized 34' Fifth Wheel and this site was really not large or open enough for this, especially with the trees. I wouldn't say this was a fault of the campground, since it was our first time here and we booked the site without actually knowing the campground. This area is clearly the original part of the campground and is much better suited for a smaller camper (this part of the campground also has quite a bit of rustic charm). There are many newer sites deeper into the campground that would have been very easy for us to be able to back or pull in to. We will absolutely consider staying here again, but will book in the sites we now know are easier to navigate. If you have a 30' or larger, I would definitely make sure you're booking the 200's or 600's in the back of the property in the vicinity of the dog park. Overall, it was a pleasant weekend away and we were left with a very positive impression of...
