12 years ago, I wrote a review saying that the Beach Villa Motel and Cottages was not the Ritz. And that it was a terrific place for families which was clean, affordable and only a few blocks from the Pier, Palace Playland and the beach. And that the proprietors, Cindy and Bob Gurry, were amazing people who bent over backwards to make your stay the best it could be, with a fun vibe that made it so you didn’t want to leave. ||All of that is still true!! If you have not read my original review, I encourage you to do so. ||And now there is a new building this season that is something of a marvel. Gone are the two cottages C7 and C8. In their place is a two-story majestic structure that wouldn’t look out of place on a rolling Southern farm. ||Housing two, 3 bedroom units - one over the other - on the left side looking at the building from the parking lot, and the owners suite on the right, the new building both fits in with the existing decor and adds a new flair to the property. ||Add that the atmosphere - including the free Sunday pancake breakfast at the new pool area - remains the most friendly and family oriented in all of Old Orchard Beach. There are also 2 huge Weber grills for guests to use to cook your lunch or dinner by the pool should you want to do so. And don’t forget Wednesday movie night by the pool and Town of OOB Thursday fireworks from the beach near Palace Playland. ||We stayed in the new building in Beach Suite 9 on the 2nd floor. Be aware that this is not on the ocean, as Beach Villa is about a 5min walk to the beach. But this unit does have some distant ocean and Palace Playland views from the deck and master bedroom window. ||In these two new units there is a full kitchen including a stainless dishwasher, large sink, french door refrigerator, a sleeper sectional in the family room,, one full bath, one three-quarter bath and plenty of storage space. Two of the bedrooms each have a queen bed and the 3rd bedroom has a twin over double bunk. Perhaps the best upgrade is the huge outside covered deck that you can hang out or eat dinner on so you are dry even if it’s raining.||All of the other units at the Beach Villa have always had a covered porch - except for the previous C7 & C8 cottages - so the covered deck is a welcome improvement!||Free parking for one car at Beach Villa comes standard with all the units. Be aware that the main parking lot is tight from a space perspective, which is the norm for Old Orchard Beach. If you can bring a smaller vehicle, it will definitely be easier to park and get around. Certain units, such as those in the new building, have space for a second vehicle at another Beach Villa parking lot that is less than a block away. Best to ask when you book if this is important to you. ||Regardless of what unit you stay in, you are sure to have an enjoyable vacation. We had a great time again at the Beach Villa and highly recommend...
Read moreI ended up booking this property last minute after leaving an unsafe situation at a different property. The owner was so welcoming, friendly, and informative! The staff were all friendly and fabulous. The location was close to the beach but on a side street away from the main street so you do not hear all the noise. The room was comfortable and had a full fridge, stove and oven, kitchen sink, and counter. It was perfect for myself as a solo traveler. The owner also allowed me to leave my luggage behind the front desk after my checkout since I had a late flight and wanted to spend more time on the beach before heading to the airport. The only negative (which the owner did inform me about upon check-in) was since I was in the smallest room type, the shower stall was tiny, as was the space between the toilet and the wall in front of it. This did not negatively impact my trip, but just something to be aware of when...
Read moreThe owners were absolutely wonderful! They are very friendly and welcoming. They have smoking areas with Adirondack chairs on the street side of the hotel which was good for me. I enjoy a good cigarette while watch foot and auto traffic go by. The only thing I will say is I know they have returning guests from Canada that speak mostly in French, but those guests were on the rude side and did over-take the pool in the evening. Maybe a sign in both English and French stating that the pool, the fire pit, and the gas grill are for ALL guests to enjoy. But that is not the fault of the owners. The office has coffee for their guests every morning as well as a great amount of local attraction brochures and maps! They are pet-friendly on the off-peak season! I highly recommend staying here if you can get in....
