Pros: The price is affordable (don’t expect a 5-star hotel experience when you’re paying half of what the other hotels are charging!) The 2 pools are really nice and clean. Super cute vibes. Clean pool towels. They play really great music. Both pools are great, but the adult pool is bigger. They close at midnight (music turns off at 10) which is great for night swims. The balcony for our room was great and provided a nice view of the pool and mountains. Loved the chair swing! Close proximity to downtown. It took us less than 5 mins to drive into downtown. And only about 2 miles from Indian Canyon and all the hiking trails! Gigi’s had really good food, and the decor is super cute. Expensive prices, but it was worth it. Bed was comfortable and clean. Needed more firmer pillows though. There is always someone at the front desk- during the day they have a least 3 people there and at night one person. They were super helpful for quick questions that I didn’t want to go through the app for. They upgraded my room when I nicely asked because our original room didn’t have enough floor space for in-home massages that I had booked. The evening front desk guy was super nice and helpful. You have to ring the doorbell to reach him at night. I thought I left my water bottle in the first room, and he walked over with me to find it. When I requested towels in the app’s chat, they sent someone over with a bag of clean towels right away. So asking for extra items on the app is pretty nice. Gym looked clean and nice, but we didn’t use it. I noticed a lounge next door as well. Having plenty of restrooms by the pools was nice. They were all very clean. The water refill station was great and loved that they provided hot water. Check in was easy!
Cons: Customer service on the app is not so great. The rep in the chat was unfriendly and stubborn. After the front desk switched my rooms, they had to cancel my old reservation and created a new reservation for me so that I could receive my new checkin info. I had paid for parking when booking my original reservation and they didn’t carry that over to my mew reservation. I chatted with customer service on the app to make sure my car was okay to keep on the premise. The rep kept insisting that I needed to pay for parking and sent me a bill via email. They said they couldn’t see my old reservation so I had to send my booking confirmation code and a screenshot proving that I paid. They said they submitted my inquiry to their team and would get back to me but never did. They told me to move my car to the street, but it was nearly 11pm and I was in my pjs in bed. Plus I had already paid for parking and did not want to be moving my car around at that late hour so I told them no. I ended up going to the front desk to inform the staff of my situation. He was super cool about it and told me not to worry about parking my car on the premise since I paid when booking my original reservation. Cleaning staff needs to be more attentive to deep cleaning the rooms in between stays. Also be attentive to timing. We arrived a little bit after 4pm which was the checkin time, and the cleaning staff were still working on my room. They told us they needed 5 more mins so we waited outside and explored the premise to give them some space. When we came back, the carpet was dirty and littered with little pieces of trash and white spotted stains all over the hallway. The bathroom floor was stained as well. Since I didn’t want to pay $50 for a cleaning, I went to the front desk and told them we had just checked in and the room needed floor cleaning. They sent the cleaning staff back to vacuum and wipe the floor right away. The floor was still stained though. Also the shower floor was stained and a bit of mold was on the grout. Please work on deep cleaning more thoroughly. Why charge guests for parking when there aren’t assigned spaces? Luckily we had plenty of parking when we went on a weekday, but I can’t imagine circling around the lot on a weekend night...
Read moreLoved our stay at the V! We've stayed at Sonder locations before, and we like the concept. Self check-in was a breeze, and customer service was great (our TV remote needed new batteries, and it only took a few minutes to get new ones through the app). Overall, our stay was fantastic, and we will DEFINITELY be staying in this location again in the future.
Pros and Cons of The V:
Pros: -Location location location! In our opinion, this is one of the best locations to stay in Palm Springs. The hotel is right off Palm Canyon Drive and getting downtown only takes a few minutes, yet you feel like you are in a safe, secluded environment. Also, we love the proximity to great walks and hikes; the hotel is steps away from the Moorten Botanical Garden, The Mesa and the Twin Palms neighborhoods are essentially across the street from the hotel to the SW and SE which are excellent for architecture walks, it's only a 7 minute drive to Indian Canyons which boasts some of the most spectacular hikes in Palm Springs, the V is only a 5 minute drive to the Araby Trailhead at the base of Southridge Drive, and it is right next door to the Caliente Tropics which has an awesome happy hour at The Reef with fabulous tiki drinks. -Design. Sonder has a strong brand identity and a design standard that carries across all their locations. For us, staying in a well-designed space is what makes a vacation truly feel like a vacation. -Price. Granted our stay was in the off season during the week, the price was absolutely unbeatable compared to basically every other reasonable option we explored. We put our saved money towards good meals and tickets for Modernism Week and were so glad we didn't go with a pricier option.
Cons: -Quality. In our opinion, Sonder strikes the perfect balance between design, price, and quality, and that's why we love it so much. But if having a 5 star mattress, plush carpets and like-new furniture is a dealbreaker for you, Sonder might not be for you. In this regard, I would compare Sonder to an Airbnb where some items may be more worn than others. -Essentials. In a review photo, I saw that the showers have Malin+Goetz shampoo, conditioner and body wash (turns out, they do not), so I opted to leave some of my toiletries at home since we were traveling light, and I immediately regretted my decision after my first shower. We're pretty flexible when it comes to bathroom products, especially on vacation, but whatever they were using was the absolute cheapest possible products. The body wash and shampoo seemed to be the same, and they had a Dial hand soap quality. The conditioner was OK, but the consistency of a cheap body lotion. Overall, this was the most disappointing part of the stay. -Refrigerator. Though it was nice to have a fridge, the one in our room was one of the smallest mini fridges I've ever seen. The cabinet for the fridge was definitely big enough for a larger and deeper fridge, yet it housed the smallest and shallowest fridge. To be fair, we packed the fridge to the brim everyday, and it managed to keep everything cold. Additionally, the cabinet door that was supposed to hide the fridge must have been ripped off at some point because it was missing altogether. Overall, this wasn't a big deal, but definitely room for...
Read moreBeen to Palm Springs many many times, but this was our first time staying here. It was kind of tucked away behind another hotel, but was much bigger than we expected. Check in had a bit of a glitch since we booked with a third party provider , but did not deter from our enjoyment of this hotel. Front staff were pleasant and helpful. ||There are 2 pools, one apparently is the over 21 pool (which is unheated) and the other for all ages and is heated. This seemed a bit strange, as I feel like adults would prefer the heated pool, and kids wouldn't care one way or the other. The 21+ pool area was huge, and had so much seating and a big variety of seating for all tastes. All very comfortable. There was also a bar where full bar service was offered. Unfortunately, this bar closed at 4:00, which seemed kind of odd since check in is 4:00. We were able to check in early though, and did get to enjoy a couple of well-made bevvies. Bartender was friendly. There was also a large hot tub, that we didn't see on the ad. And a huge gas firepit, which to our disappointment was never turned on. However, if we had asked the front desk, they may have turned it on for us. ||The rooms were just OK, but our room (212) had a huge bathroom, and appeared to be fairly newly renovated. But the duvet was a bit weird in that it had lumps all over it. The second room (211) seemed a bit older, smaller bathroom, but the duvet wasn't lumpy. I know it's a small thing, and didn't make sleep uncomfortable, it was just a bit disconcerting to begin with. Rooms were clean. Would have liked more towels, but since we were only staying one night, it was fine. Lots of plugs and charging stations. ||Air Conditioner could have worked better, and the smoke alarm (I think that's what it was), had a light that flashed on and off all night. I'm a very light sleeper, so it was a bit distracting. However, the hotel itself was very quiet. Don't know how it would be later in the year or during Spring Break. ||There is a restaurant on site, but we didn't go there as we were specifically in town for the Street Festival held every Thursday night. But if you didn't feel like leaving the hotel grounds you wouldn't have to. ||It is not walking distance to downtown, but it was a relatively short Uber ride should you wish to imbibe and/or struggle with parking downtown. It was overall a good location, as there are plenty of restaurants close by. ||Would I stay at the V Palm Springs again? Absolutely. But not for an extended stay of more than 3 days. Our stay was pleasant and we really enjoyed the "vibe". Would for sure go back again, but unless the 21+ pool was heated, and the pool bar stayed open longer, I would only stay a few days. We got a very good deal on the price, so was well...
