Colony Suites — Hotel in Palmer

This place is great! Stayed in unit #7…Basically a cute little fully furnished apartment. Owners respond quickly to any questions you might have. They even provide multiple contacts so that you are never left hanging!

Able to rate in the following areas:

Sleep: Great. Good comfortable bed, soft sheets and comfy pillows. Quiet room. Drapes able to block out light for good quality sleep. For you biometric tech nerds out there, my watch says that I slept 8 hours and 14 minutes of uninterrupted sleep with 94% sleep quality (amazing for me!)! If that isn’t pure bliss, I don’t know what is!

Kitchen: Cute and modern. Has basics for cooking anything and a full size fridge. Keurig coffee, sweetener/sugar packets and little creamers in the fridge- they thought of everything! If you need fancy creamer, Fred Meyer and Carr’s are not far away.

Living area: Comfy. Cute. Good size smart TV (you use your own streaming accounts, which is all I ever do, even at home)

Desk: little area where you could opt to set up for remote work.

Bathroom: modern shower, along with shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Small, but for 2 people it’s perfectly fine.

Temperature/environment: Nest smart thermostat. Perfect temperature while we were here. Didn’t even need to adjust it.

Affordability: good value! We stayed here a little unexpectedly… we were able to book for same day room, reserved for 3 nights.

Location: great location within walking distance to some breweries (Matanuska and Bleeding Heart) and restaurants. The grocery store is a few more blocks away, not completely out of walking distance for most- but within a couple of minutes drive. (Personally, I don’t know who walks to get their groceries- I always come out of the store with far more than I could ever carry- but to each his own!)

We stayed for 11 nights during the Christmas holidays for relative visiting and general tourist-ing and had a great stay.||||The location is in an ultra-quiet neighborhood 2 blocks from downtown Palmer. Suite 12 had an excellent view of a snowy field, mountains and even the decorated Palmer water tower. There is very little traffic on the roads around the units.||||Palmer is a easy 50 minute drive from downtown Anchorage. Great central location for seeing the sights that is away from the big city.||||Suite 12 had everything we needed and was clean. No need to post shots since their website had mondo-pictures that were exactly as we received. There was enough kitchen utensils and pans to get us by, including the required pod coffee maker. The unit was clean with new appliances. ||||The living room couch is a sleeper, so a family with kids would fit just fine. For the two of us it was excellent and the master bed was comfy. Both rooms had TV's with a plethora of viewing aps. ||||We appreciated the apt size washer dryer compete with soap since sloshing thru the snow gets you wet. Since there is no maid service it is nice to freshen up the towels or sheets. The only negative is the washer is very noisy and the neighbors woke us up when we were trying to sleep in, one morning. ||||It snowed several times during our stay, and the management kept the walk ways swept, which was appreciated. The units are ‘motel style’ with a roof covering most walkways. The path to our cars and trash was even cleared, which was no easy feat considering the snowfall received. They kept the brooms and shovels out so we could brush off...

This is my third year staying at Colony Suites for a two week stay for my job. This year 7 other of my colleagues joined me at Colony Suites and every single one of them spoke very highly of our accommodations, which were fabulous. There are not many places you can stay in the Palmer Wasilla Area, I was very blessed to find this two years ago in a panic because accommodations I made at another location was horrible. Each suite was very clean and stocked with everything you need to make you feel like you were at home. Each unit came with the washer and dryer and dishwasher and a full-size refrigerator and soap and fabric sheets and dishwasher soap stove, microwave, hair dryer was all provided to us.

Marty, who is one of the owners has been fabulous very accommodating, attentive, customer service oriented and made our stay very comfortable and relaxing. Before I arrived, I realize there was not a TV in the bedroom. I made a call to Marty and they put it in before we got there. The beds are amazing and I got a good nights sleep each night I was there the couch was comfy. I fell asleep twice on the couch this time as well.

Each one of my colleagues raved about how nice our accommodations are and how it was comfortable and home to come back to after a long day of work. We felt as if we were home and loved getting together in the evenings or just walking to a restaurant for dinner and drinks. There are several restaurants, breweries shops all within walking distance. We even saw a concert this year that was truly amazing.
