Big Dipper Homemade Ice Cream — Restaurant in Palmer

It's impressive how bad this ice cream is. But the terrible ice cream is not the worst part. The absolute worst part is the outright lie that it's homemade ice cream. I mean, it's homemade in the sense that they mix the pre-made ice cream there on-site. But as far as an actual product made from scratch. That is a lie. Don't believe me. Ask the staff where they get their mix. It comes from Oregon. And the fact of how small the storefront is with how large the menu is. There is no way they could house all the ingredients necessary to make those flavors. Anyway in closing if you want real homemade ice cream this place ain't it. They are pulling the wool over your eyes.

Response No one put me up to it. I just can't stand watching a bad business exploits its customer base. As far as my claim is concerned. Your staff on-site told me with little to no provocation that the product is shipped from out of state. And I have no problem believing it. Because it tastes nothing like ACTUAL...

Dear makers and creators of Big Dipper. I stumbled upon the flavor Round the Campfire' this summer up at Eklutna and let me tellllll youuuuu. I've had the same favorite flavor ice cream since I was 7 years old... but now at 33 you've ruined me. It is so unbelievably delicious I try to find any excuse to go to Palmer just to have that blissful 10 minutes of ice cream paradise. I feel so strongly about this flavor I want to write ice cream laws that say you can never discontinue it or if GOD FORBID you go out of business you let me come in and show me how the magic is made. I've never done this before but I do some graphic design/website design, social media management and photography & video work and I will GLADY work for ice cream. I am one of the lucky winners of free ice cream for a year (best day of my life) so I have been sampling my way through their different flavors every week. All of them are spectacular.

As far as the basic chocolate and vanilla…. They are THE BEST chocolate and THE BEST vanilla I’ve ever had. So creamy. So rich. Mind-blowing.

They’ve nailed the classic candy flavors, Butterfinger being especially scrumptious.

The sorbets are delicious as well.

And the different/seasonal flavors are always unique and tasty!
