Still searching in vain for a decent pizza. The best so far is now closed & nobody up here in the Great White North seems to have a clue how to make a good - let alone an exceptional - pie, despite there being hours of online videos and culinary sites detailing how it's done.
Read Pizza Delphi was 'the place' in the Matsu so reluctantly decided to give it a try. Ordered 'the special' thinking that if they're proud enough to call it that it might well be our best bet. It wasn't.
The aroma of the pie was excellent. Hopes up. But the toppings were sparse. Feared the worst & was sadly rewarded when we found the crust soggy and the slices limp & wet. Worse still, the first taste was a salt bomb worthy of cod preservation. There was enough salt incorporated in this 'special' that it could have preserved an Egyptian mummy for another 1000 years. Couldn't eat it and ended up throwing it out. That will be the last $30 we spend on this disappointment, one that is all too common here.

Read moreThe food was fairly good. I ordered the pizza Delphi, which had a large amount of mozzarella cheese, pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, bell peppers, onions, and olives. The crust was chewy yet airy, and cooked perfectly. I also ordered a meatball, which comes with meat sauce. The meatball was a bit on the tough side, maybe from mixing the ingredients too long, or from a microwave? Either way, the flavor wasn't bad. What kept the pizza and meatball from tasting better was a lack of garlic! Both items felt like they were missing something. I asked the server for garlic powder for the pizza, after a bit she informed me she was "not allowed" to bring me any. It made me wonder if that was due to it not being in the kitchen at all. The next time I'm in Alaska, I'll definitely give them another chance, as my brother spoke highly of the place. Until then, I'll keep my...
