This post was very hard to write as I have loved this place for years until this morning. Because this Morning we will never go back or recommend this place to anyone.
The company not only lost loyal customers and businesses but employees are sad to hear they won’t see our faces anymore due to accusing the wrong room of smoking cigarettes.
My husband and I over the last 4-5 years fell in love with the Scottsdale Plaza resort and staff.
We would book stay vacation so much that the staff became family and very familiar with us.
Barb one of the best bartenders there hands down has know me and my medical battles I went through sense 2020 and she always tried to make sure i ate and drank my water insured I was always comfortable had whatever I needed!
Sense this is a public review I prefer to not go into my medical history and wont
But yesterday we my husband and I chose to celebrate recently getting married and celebrating our valentines early. My husband had no idea I had called up the resort week prior asking if Barb was working that day and if so we like to book a night and pick a the king villa. I requested early check in so I could decorate the room I arrived around 11am where I was greeted by a nice young girl welcoming me saying happy anniversary while giving me a card and escorting me to my room . The service was top notch like normal. My husband would be given direction where to meet me to start off our Valentine plans and he was texted around 3pm to come and meet me for dinner at the Mexicano where Will the General manager was waiting for us and expecting us :) by the way if you haven’t been there highly recommend really cool environment and great food!
From 530pm -930pm my husband and I were out to dinner and enjoying our night.
Around 945pm we arrived to hotel where my husband and I immediately switch into our bathing suits and went to hot tub right away as we only had a hour before the pool would be close! We had to call up front to find the pool hours out.
Husband and I came back to room around 11 and showered and crawl into bed had incredible night.
We woke up around 7am and went for coffee and then came back and packed up and while packing received a nice text from the resort letting us know what time check out was and thanks for our stay !
I called right before we were about to leave the room and let them know we were leaving and checking out and confirmed the amount!
That when we were told that we received at 300.00 charge for smoking in room ? I said excuse me ? We do not smoke at all !
I ask to speak to manager and Mario had let me know that they have electronics in there room that tells people they smoke in there it sense things and I said they said it was high from 5pm -Midnight for one we weren’t even at hotel from 5-930 and then from 10-11 we were at pool the only thing I could think of is we had a gas fire place in the room?
However Mario the manager apologized and removed the charge and said he believe us and he was sorry …. There was a rude manager name Meghan that was just plan nasty and deserve to be written up for her unprofessionalism …. My problem here is to be charge something without being spoke too and to be accused of something when we weren’t even there in the room and the fact it didn’t match there own data sheet.
All red flags!!!!!
Made us feel targeted and hotels that hide and keep secrets about device in their room make me concern about other hidden things in the rooms and deserve to notify other people in case your targeted and falsely accused of something like this ?
Nothing was ever disclosed at check in about any devices or camera in our suite.
Even though the manager made it right I let him know it wouldn’t change our minds they fully loss our business for good and I would write a review letting and warning other people . Mario never asked me to show him my medical records but I did to prove I dont smoke never have never will yuck and because I did that I feel that is the only reason . Why he removed it.
Suck we...
Read moreWe had our wedding here- it was awful.
--- Just wait for this story ---
My guest and his pregnant wife checked into their room, set their stuff up and went out for the evening. A different guest (no relation to this guest, but who was meeting and sharing the room with a different friend) was given a room card to the incorrect room where the first guest was staying with his pregnant wife. He got to the room and thought it was his and took a shower. The originally couple came back to a stranger, freshly out of the shower and naked in their room. Extremely disturbed and freaked out security was called. Our “wedding coordinator” (if you can even call her that) tried to say it was okay since they were both wedding guests (one guest was from my side and one from my husband’s.) Obviously this situation was horrifying, humiliating, and created a lot of tension at the event. They then proceeded to charge for this room! I as the bride had to intervene and find out why and insist on a refund. My guest who was the one in the shower ended up leaving early. It was an absolute disaster. No acknowledgment and nothing done to make it right.
The wedding planner called me up and told me that manager I spoke to, Jordan, said horrible things about me and said I attacked someone else and called them useless (total lie, I just said I didn’t think she could help me, and I needed a manager given the gravity of this situation). I went back up to the person I allegedly attacked to apologize (she had no clue what I was talking about, was embarrassed, and said I didn’t say anything to Sandy and have no clue what you are talking about)
Jordan who profusely apologized, insisted she did not say those things and was visibly upset that she thought she was having a conversation with a colleague and did not think she would “misconstrue what I said” and call me to tell me about it (which honestly- totally fair, no professional courtesy for customers or coworkers from this woman) On this call with Sandy the “coordinator” (which was on speaker because I thought it was to settle up about the refund we were owed on the welcome party my parents paid for) she immediately went in on me, insulting me, telling me my wedding sucked and was disorganized (she was the planner), that I was ungrateful, that she gave me a free hour of open bar (wedding was delayed 50 minutes due to rain and still they packed up at the scheduled end time so I actually lost an hour of my wedding and got nothing in return), and that my vendors sucked. She also told me that the guest who was put in the compromised situation of being exposed in front of strangers and threatened when they thought he was a creep who broke into their room was happy and totally fine with what happened! Gaslighting at its finest. My family who was still at the hotel who heard the call said let’s get our stuff and get out of here. We all immediately left because the call was so unprofessional and with the blatant safety issue from earlier, we just didn’t know what else they would do.
I shared my experience in a survey which was supposed to be bubbled up to head management and owners of the property. It was intercepted by someone who then filtered it back to the exact people who lied, scammed, and are now sending me fraudulent bills who I complained about in the survey. We were owed a refund on our welcome party and they are now saying somehow that we owe the hotel almost $600. It is literally unbelievable. We tipped for things in cash and after the fact they added 20% tips to the bills anyways. Multiple guests of mine were charged insane amounts more than they were supposed to be and are still fighting with them about it. I am so devastated and embarrassed!! Do NOT spend your money here. Do not stay here because you aren’t safe. Font desk will give hotel keys to anyone who...
Read moreHaving lived in Phoenix previously I had always heard good things about the Scottsdale Plaza. Having stayed there for three nights I have zero good things to say about it myself. ||I booked this hotel through a third party booking site which indicated upon booking that there would not be any resort fees. I need to hit a certain mark spending wise for my business and adding resort fees would be over budget. I even screen shotted it so there would be no argument from either them or the hotel. When I got to the hotel they requested my credit card for incidentals and the dreaded "resort fee". I showed them my conversation with the website and they would not budge on the resort fees. I called the website and was assured this wouldn't be the case. I finally got the hotel to promise not to charge me the resort fees, however each day in the room the television will show you your room charges and the resort fees appeared each day. Upon checkout I was assured that this would not happen. Lo and behold when I arrived home my credit card was charged "resort fees". I called to complain and was told they would be removed. Took almost 10 days for this to occur. Was absolutely ridiculous. ||Now to the room itself. All of the rooms at this hotel face to the outside just like a Motel 6. It is a very large and spread out property. My room was so far away from the pool that I didn't even bother using it. My room was to the back and faced a large courtyard that is available for events. The hotel itself only has two story buildings without elevators. I was placed on the first floor. I requested a room on the second floor, but was denied. Normally I refuse to stay in a hotel that will not honor that request, but having dealt with the front desk long enough before checkin I just gave up, which I think is their approach to all guest requests, just slow play them long enough and they will give up. The room was just ok. It was very dark with limited lighting, probably because of the intensity of the Arizona sun. The water in the shower was a little warmer than luke warm. The beds were average. The refrigerator is a joke as I don't think it got below 37 degrees. It started off in the 50s. If you don't have anything in it it decides it won't cool the fridge, so I had to wait several hours for my off property purchased drinks to cool down. ||I checked in on a Sunday to go to work Monday at 6 am having traveled from the East Coast. I wanted to go to bed early Sunday night, forget that however. The hotel scheduled a wedding reception for a Sunday night, who does that? The music was so loud I was talking to my wife on the phone and she finally says, " I can't talk to you anymore the music is too loud". She wasn't on speaker phone and I was behind the walls of my room. There were maybe a half dozen people dancing at this wedding reception. I called the front desk and they said it would be over at 11. This hotel should not be booking rooms that face something like this if it is going to be as loud as it was. It's rude to all the guests who aren't there for the reception. There were plenty of guest in pajamas angrily staring at the reception from just outside the courtyard.||I write all of this to say after day one at this Godforsaken property I elected to not spend one dime extra at this place. No gift shop purchases, no dining at the restaurant, no spa appointments, nothing! ||The only thing good about this hotel is leaving,...
