Read moreWe visited the Train Park on 3/23/25. Upon arriving, the first place we went to was the building with all the model train setups. A family was holding a door open for us, so in we went. A few moments after entering we were quite literally verbally attacked by this lady who was working the front desk. She yelled at us telling us we had come in the wrong door, that she knew because she watched us walk in & that we needed to leave because I had an iced coffee & no drinks were allowed & we needed to use the proper entrance. We informed her that it was our first time here & that we live out of state. We were happy to follow directions & use the correct door, but how she relayed the message was rude & uncalled for. My whole family & I were appalled at the way she spoke to people who were visitors at the center. We left the building & found the front entrance. When we walked in, she was very passive aggressive and sarcastically shouted, “HELLO! Welcome! We’re so glad you’re here today!” It was very uncomfortable, rude & unprofessional and wasn’t what we expected from staff at a visitor center. While we didn’t let it ruin our day or our trip to the park, I felt someone else needed to see this as she seemed to be the only one in that building which left us with no other staff member to inform. The other staff we encountered at the ticket counter and other various places were all so nice, helpful and informative & overall we had a great time at the park! The train ride and carousel were fun for the kids. I would recommend checking it out! Just make sure you use the right entrance & leave your...
Read moreAbsolutely amazed with this park. It’s very well thought out and well maintained. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Admission is free to the museum and exhibit and the tickets for the train ride and carousel were not too expensive. Worth every penny. We took our train-obsessed four year old for a visit while on vacation from NC. He was thrilled by the enormous model train exhibit hall—it was massive and intricately built. The amount of effort and attention to the small details did not go unnoticed. There are trains literally everywhere—don’t forget to look up! My son could sit in there all day long and not get bored. The model train exhibit had multiple interactive portions that added to the excitement of the overall experience. We were very impressed. The entire park is clean and there are so many things to do and see. From the carousel ride and steam train ride (even better with short to no wait times!), to the railroad museum complete with an old presidential car and loads of information and train antiques. The playground was large and done very nicely, probably one of the nicer playgrounds we’ve been to! If we lived nearby, we’d host our young sons birthday here. We saw multiple birthday celebrations in the open park that included bounce houses. There’s also multiple places to go for a walk that included small train tracks, stations and crossings which were fun and enjoyable. There’s even a mini old western town for kids to play in. The scenery on the train track was great, lots of fun train details and my son especially loved the wood-covered tunnel. 5...
