I’d like to report our very bad experience at the Fairfield Inn by Marriott Las Vegas Convention Center.
The hotel shared my personal email: It all started before our arrival with an email I received on November 30th form Eugene Houston, the Hotel Manager, listing all customers arriving that day in the “To” field.
Both elevators were defective during our whole 6 days stay: Both elevators did not work during our stay and have been defective for many days before our arrival based on discussion with other customers. During check-in, we had to ask for help to bring our luggage to the room due to physical limitation (I’m not allowed to lift anything over 22 lbs) – The staff member who helped us gave us a bit of attitude and showed his dissatisfaction.
Housekeeping every second day – not enough supply On the second day when we came back to the room after our day visiting, we learned that housekeeping is only done every second day and had to go downstairs to pickup clean towels and coffee supply. We are okay with this process but recommend the staff to make sure customers are aware – there was no mention during check-in. Also, the hotel should include more than 2 washcloth and more coffee pods and cups if they don’t plan to visit the rooms.
Housekeeping left our door unlocked: We found our door unlocked and open by about 1 inch when we came back after dinner and our full days visiting. House keeping didn’t pay attention when they did the room and left all of our belonging unsecure all day. Thankfully, nothing was missing but we had a rush of stress for a moment until we went through our stuff to confirm nothing was stolen. I had to report to the front desk and the house keeping manager. This is unacceptable.
Bad experience with room service: One night, we didn’t feel like going out for dinner and decided to order some room service. Even if there is a sign in every room, the service is not performed by the Fairfield Hotel but by a 3rd party company called Order Inn. When we placed the order, we were told it would take about 45 minutes for the delivery, but it took over 90 minutes and I had to call twice to get an update. Few minutes before the delivery person arrived, he called me and asked to meet in the lobby as they are not allowed to come to the room, even if the flyer in the room referred as room service! I had to dress up to go meet the driver in the lobby (without being able to use the elevators). When I got back to the room, the food was cold, the bread stiff and my lasagna was not cooked enough. The front desk of the Fairfield told us they are not responsible of this service and that I should report it to Order Inn, even if the information was printed with the Fairfield logo. I did report it to Order Inn who offered me a 25% discount on my next order but after reading some very nasty online reviews, this was most likely their way to scam us a second time, so we didn’t use the service again.
Long time Marriott customer: I have been a long time and frequent customer of the Marriott chain and this was by far, the worst experience I had. Considering the cost, this is unacceptable and we would have been better served at a Motel 6, a Super 8 or Econo Lodge, not at a Marriott !
That hotel is now on my blacklist and I will never recommend it to any of my friends...
Read moreMy room was fine when I checked in. I was woken up after midnight with the STRONG smell of cigarette smoke. The smell woke me up 3 more times during the night; it was as if smokers were puffing away in my room! The smoke may have been coming up from the room below or traveling through the ventilation system from another room. Because my room was on the 4th floor, I don't think the smell could have been coming from outside. I tried shutting off the air conditioning, but that didn't help at all. In the morning staff moved me to another room. Late the second night I again noticed the cigarette smoke but it was much less than the previous night in the previous room. This is a non-smoking hotel. PLEASE ENFORCE YOUR RULES. Also, the toilet in my room would run and fill intermittently every few minutes due to a leaky flapper valve. That was annoying at night. The Fairfield Las Vegas on Paradise is an older property and that does show a little bit. It is clean and well kept but the age does show a bit. I know that Las Vegas properties get hard use, but I stay at many Marriott brands around the country and, while it's not really bad, I've come to expect better than the Fairfield Las Vegas on Paradise gave me. Several months ago I stayed at the Fairfield Inn in Moab, UT. That is a GREAT property with GREAT service, GREAT staff and GREAT amenities. While the Fairfield Las Vegas on Paradise wasn't horrible, it can't be compared to the Fairfield in Moab; they're not even in the same hospitality universe!
Regarding the Fairfield Las Vegas on Paradise:
-The breakfast food and quality was fine but the coffee was running low a few time on both mornings of my stay. It doesn't get more basic than coffee folks, I recommend a second employee to help run breakfast. The singlehanded employee was doing a fine job but she was unable to keep up with the demand so keeping the coffee going was getting difficult for her. -Breakfast runs until 9am. I didn't appreciate being asked if I wanted to get anything else at 8:50am. It's hard for families with little kids to get the bum's rush 10 minutes prior to the end since kids are slow and nothing else matter to the little ones except getting their breakfast! Please keep in mind that ending at 9 means ending at 9 for your guests, not ending at 9 for your staff... -The exercise room is important to me. This one was just fine. -I loved the fact that the property is walking distance from the Las Vegas Convention Center. That...
Read moreThere were so many issues from the 1st day to last day that I don't know what to write. I never ever had such experience in any Marriott. 3 major issues with 10s of other.
In the 1st morning I requested a room change for better view. The front desk promised it will be done on evening. It did not happen. I requested again in evening they confirmed it will happen next morning definitely. It did not happen. Again I requested next morning and even the front desk took my permission to handle my bags in my absence which I gave. Nothing happened. Next day I again inquired and showed my unhappiness then in the evening they shifted me to a room which has worst view. I told them several time that I need good view. and the room type was also different. So I again had to change my room to another room in the same side of the building which has same view. The whole episode is so ridiculous. How many times I need to go to front desk, if you don't have room just say that change is not possible. Why unnecessarily promise guests.
I lost my mobile and my wife was tracking it from room and I was waiting in hotel lobby for the guy who found it. I asked front desk to connect me to my room so that I can talk to my wife while she was tracking the phone location in google. The front desk simply asked me to use the phone in lobby area to direct dial my room. She never mentioned that she had to connect and every time I need to tell her. The 2nd and 3rd time I tried the phone was not connected and when I asked her she told that every time I need to inform her I am calling my room so she can connect. She made faces like I am an idiot and never stayed any hotel and do not know anything. There were several guests that time and this was so humiliating. When I asked few question she showed temper and told another guest" One of those days in Fairfield". I even don't believe Marriott front desk can behave like this.
I extended my stay from 5th to 11th to 5th to 13th. But as in my Marriott account it shown a booking from 8th to 13th I talked to the GM of the hotel and while she was checking it revealed that they put higher rate in the system for each night than the rate I booked. I shown her the confirmation mail and she corrected the rates. but my question how can they put higher rate than the one I got confirmation? If I would not have extended and a issue did not happen, this was not caught and they would charge me more than...
