Order: Queso Modela & 3 Tacos (Beer Battered Avocado, Grilled Pineapple and Black Beans, & Pastor) Price: $20 Positives: Good tacos with some unique options (fried avocado, jackfruit, grilled pineapple), crazy good queso, lots of beer if that’s your thing, very good outdoor seating Negatives: The tacos didn’t really jump out as amazing, just good tldr: Taco’s and beer seems like a great place to hang out with friends, drink some beer, crush some queso and eat good tacos. The key here, I think, is the hanging out with friends and beer part; while the queso was definitely amazing the tacos weren’t the best we had in Vegas.
Thoughts: Stop number five on the eat and drink all the things tour in Vegas. It was fairly late at night, at least for us, as we had spent the evening visiting some friends at their house. We decided we wanted something to eat, but nothing crazy heavy, and really wanted it to be a quick in and out.
Since I think it’s impossible to eat too many tacos we decided to go get tacos for the second time on our first full day in Vegas. Tacos and Beer wasn’t far away so we decided to swing in and give them a shot, especially since they were still open. It’s definitely more of a restaurant then your standard taco shop and there were a lot of people there drinking and hanging out. Make sense because you know, beer is in the name. We sat down in their cool outdoor seating area and quickly perused the menu. We settled on sharing three tacos and their Queso Modelo after some opinions from our server.
It didn’t take long for the food to come out and we dug in. The tacos were all very good, but if I’m being honest the place we went earlier in the day was noticeably better. The fried avocado was good but was just fried avocado, the pastor was good but not quite as flavorful and juicy as some of my favorite taco places, the only real exception was the pineapple taco. The pineapple taco was made with small chunks of pineapple that were grilled and then tossed into the taco almost like chunks of meat. I don’t know that it would be a favorite taco of mine, but it was very delicious and was a sweet, cool, refreshing taco versus the standard tacos filled with meat.
The real winner here was the Queso Modelo! Imagine your standard queso but with a special sauce and ground beef added in! It was killer. Absolutely something I would come back to Tacos and Bear for. It actually got me wondering whether the thing to get here Is there appetizers instead of their entrées. Regardless it was a pretty good choice for a late night. And it might be something I come back to if I was in the area. I think there are better tacos around but still overall a really good place. And it’s worth pointing out that they staff was very friendly and very helpful, and you could get in and out pretty quickly. Overall a good place to grab some...
Read moreThis REALLY HAPPENED!! Skip this place if you don’t want your night ruined by a racist man with no customer service experience! I’m a local! A blogger! I eat out constantly and write and post about my experiences where ever I go. So this unfortunate night goes as followed. Worst customer service I have ever received. We come into tacos and beer. 7 people in. 3 girls 4 guys. We drove 2 cars so 2 of the guys are our designated drivers. They are not touching alcohol at all. So means 2 guys are drinking. The 3 girls we go and grab the free house margaritas. We grab more than one and the bartender gladly gave them to us. We sit down and start ordering food because we are all hungry. Remember the 2 guys. They order their own drinks and one of the girls orders a glass of wine as well. Think of this bill. Everyone is eating. We r ordering alcohol (not the free stuff ) and you are going to come up to me and ask me to leave because I have 2 of the small free margaritas that literally cost you less than $1 to make. We are consuming alcohol and food!!!! Plus we are great tippers and we blog and bring people into your business!! We are in the industry. We are locals. I blog about my experiences but obviously this guy didn’t know that. The funny thing is that I literally just got treated brunch (same day) by one of the owners of one of the most popular restaurants in China town. I decide to go to tacos and beer for the flyer they advertised online and honestly it was one of the places I hadn’t reviewed in Vegas. So the flyer read as followed and I included a picture of it. Free house margaritas for ladies from 10-11pm! Anyways! Don’t waste your money. They will ruin your experience and your night. Horrible customer service. I took video of the whole thing. This is no lie. I will post and have my bloggers friends post as well. Skip this place !!! I can’t believe they treat people like that. See my pictures look at the times. I literally was there from 10-11pm. Look at the time I was having brunch at the other restaurant. I’m not a liar so don’t waste your money here !!! This is the man that...
Read moreWent this past tues..looked it up since we were leaving the strip and craved tacos...decided to come try...anyway it was a nice day out and so we got there asked if we can sit out at the patio. Host let us choose where to sit and not too long waitress came and asked what we wanted to drink....my daughter and I decided to order a stout and got chips n salsa to start... and the beer my wife wanted was out so she asked if she can look thru the beer menu to decide. Our beers got dropped off by the food runner or bartender...after a few minutes the waitress came back my wife just decided to order an ultra and we put in our order. I got the 3 taco combo with rice and beans, my daughter got the chicken tortilla soup and we got some chicken flautas to share. I got an al pastor, shrimp and a fish taco. The al pastor was good no complaints but the shrimp taco and fish taco was very bland. It seemed no seasoning on the shrimp or fish. It did have avocado and cabbage but I really needed to add alot of salsa to help it the rice and beans were decent. And the chicken tortilla soup was a decent size but it had 1 chunk of chicken and nothing after that flavor was ok it also needed salsa added to gain some flavor....and the flautas were just tortilla and a slimy filling they were baby sized also that pretty much had little to no flavor. To top off the whole experience the waitress barely checked on us or asked if we needed more beers or asked if we needed anything or how was our food.....we decided to ask for the check and within dropping it off she definitely showed up 2 more times within a few minutes to pick up her money. Would not recommend this place to anyone to eat. They did have a decent beer and tequila selection but food wise I would pass. Never again. Service gets 2 stars because the food runner/bartender was friendly when dropping off food n drink. Atmosphere gets 3 stars cuz it's a...
