Huge unmet potential!!! Checked in Christmas Day and stayed for 2 nights. Check in was fairly smooth (trying to ignore the construction and cleaning all around, considering opening week), it was mentioned that the amenities were not available for use and they would reduce the extra $20 a night on top of the room rate. ( I was put off to find out they charge extra for the use of amenities which is not already included in your room rate, resort fee or taxes. This is a completely different/ extra charge to use the hot tub etc) Anyway, went straight to the upper deck to grab a drink before they closed down at 9pm. Had one over priced drink each and no food as it wasn’t available at that time, instead found another offsite restaurant with food and drinks. Before heading out we went to check out the room and drop off our belongings only to find the room they gave us had already been used. Urine in the toilet, stains on the comforter, used wine glass in the bathroom and a bottle of lotion on the side of the bed. Not even going to ask! The staff was quick to get us into another room... a clean one... and apologized that they didn’t have any housecleaning staff available. Our room was next to the hallway exit/entrance next to the elevators so you could literally hear it slam all night and day. The room however was cozy, clean, very lovely actually. Our second night we checked in for our reservations at the martini and oyster bar as rumor has it they have a fantastic live music on Thursday evenings. Well... reservations were not necessary, the place was a dudd!! Empty! More staff than customers!! Giving this place the benefit of the doubt we sat down next to the piano player and the washed up Frank Sinatra actor/singer (no offense buddy). Looked over the menu to find two house special Martini’s over $10 each, get this... the rest $20!!! Seriously $20 Martini’s?!? Husband goes to order a beer (not a martini fan... that’s cool) nope!! No beer served on the menu! Strike three. Okay we get it.. duh Martini and Oyster bar! How about some oysters?! Nope!! One oyster menu item that you can have cooked three different ways. What the what?! Best part about that 10 min stop... the friendly sweet as pie and very understanding staff members!! Thanked our server for her patience, did not order anything and left for the Blu Note!! Best decision we made all night! As a matter of fact the piano player must have agreed as she showed up there about an hour and half later. 😳 The next morning we checked out and shared our concerns with the “manager/owner” as she identified herself. She was considerate and understanding and compensated us for one night and took off the additional amenity fees, otherwise we were looking at $269 a night! Wow!!! Just wow!! Note: I have stayed at the Gaylord (a city of its own nonetheless) several times for no more than $185 total!!! This place is overrated, overpriced, and so much unmet potential! I hope they get it figured out!
For now a 2 out of 5 ... I look forward to going back with the hope they can redeem themselves and give it a 5 out of 5!! Crossing my fingers...
Read moreOverall, this is an architecturally beautifully designed and clean hotel great for a quick stay and/or for mostly sleeping. If planning to relax at the hotel/in the room, it does lack some features. Pros: It was very clean throughout the hotel, including the stairwells. The cleaning staff were very friendly. Value- compared to other hotels in the area it is priced a little high. We received a great deal with Hotels.com which brought the price down. Quiet AC/Heating unit Mini fridge and Keurig; ample bathroom counter space, cool towel/shelf space under sink; fitness center Our room faced the north and had views of the front range mountains Cons: The person who welcomed us was average. We were not welcomed with words. We had to initiate the conversation. As others have mentioned, there is a clogged sink smell coming from the bathroom sink. Noticeable when brushing teeth and within a few feet of the sink. No closure for the shower made for a drafty shower experience as the temp in the room was in the mid 60s. We don’t use microwaves but if you do- there is not one in the room. We usually don’t eat hotel breakfast but if you do- there is no free hotel breakfast. Our last 7-8 hotel/rental stays in the past 4-5 years had a smartTV with streaming apps (Netflix. Prime Video, etc) this hotel did not. I assumed they would have this feature. The audio on the TV would lag or cut-out every 20-30 seconds. We watched Prime on my 14-inch laptop. The TV is not 55 inch, maybe 43 inch. The Keurig functionality is hit or miss and can be hard to use due to poor lighting in the cabinet. We have stayed at the Springhill Suites in Parker and that would be our choice...
Read moreHas some potential but on the high price side of things for a fairly basic room and no breakfast. Would have appreciated a better price since they did not have anything open besides one restaurant. Also, the $200 incidental charge seems excessive. I've never stayed anywhere that held this much. Makes it feel like a trust issue and most places, $100 is on the high end. Seven days to get the $200 back on a debit card could be tough for some people. Overall, a decent hotel trying to be a first class place, but missing the mark. A little too proud of their hotel based off pricing and benefits/options. Room was missing any sort of TV guide, bar of soap, and dirty laundry bag (basic things a higher class hotel always has). It definitely has some potential, but probably would not stay here again due to benefits versus cost (and the excessive incidental charge/hold which is just annoying). Last annoying thing was they give you two free drinks to thank you for staying, to find only free well drinks when you get to the bar. If you are trying to attract higher end customers (obvious by the jewelry store in the lobby) we don't want to be told free drinks for staying with you and then tell me I can have some cheap drink as a thank you. Does it really cost you that much more to just truly give your guests their drink of choice? Seems like an identity issue of sorts for this hotel. Good- it was very clean and staff always nice. Good location for walking to a couple nice brewery's nearby. Also an easy 30 minute drive to...
