Our first interaction with the staff proved to be prophetic of our stay. Checked in by a disinterested mumbling front desk staff member who made it obvious she’d rather be anywhere doing anything other than right there helping us.

Next we discovered the indoor pool that was one of the primary reasons for booking the hotel wasn’t open. We were told it was waiting for an inspector. I cringe to think why an indoor pool that is open all year long would need an inspector and in hindsight I’m kind of glad we didn’t have an opportunity to use it.

We also discovered that one of the two elevators at the facility were not working. Which made for some inconvenient wait times and cramped cars right off the bat.

The room itself was clean and spacious. A robust sitting area with a love seat convertible and an easy chair populated one side of the room with the king size bed on the other. The room was divided by a large desk that proved to have the only storage for clothes and made it very difficult to move the cartoonishly large coffee table from in front of the couch when we wanted to convert it into a bed.

One major downfall was having a single television in the unit, right in the middle of the room over the immovable desk. While it was on a swing arm and could be pitched to either side of the room it made it impossible to have both sides of the room watch TV at the same time which seemed like a logistical oversight in design.

All of the furniture, couch, chair and beds were rock hard and incredibly uncomfortable. The sitting furniture was made of a cheap fake leather that was unpleasant to sit on without some type of covering.

Day we had a chance to avail ourselves of the complimentary breakfast, and immediately regretted it. Not only was the selection lackluster, the turkey sausage was overcooked to the point of being more suitable for build Lincoln Log houses than for human consumption. The “red skin potatoes” as they were labeled were anything but. Instead, they were russet tomatoes served luke warm and painfully dry. Which was compounded by the fact that the juice cups provided were glorified paper shot glasses, presumably to save money on the juice portioned out. That was the last day we made the mistake of eating breakfast at the hotel.

Day three we awoke to the second and only working elevator being out of service. Sadly, the staff wasn’t even attentive enough to put out of service notifications on each of the guest floors. While that wouldn’t have saved used three floor trek down the service stairs, it would have at least help to eliminate some of the frustration and delay in waiting for an elevator that would never come.

Frustrated after our walk down stairs I made a comment to the front office staffer, not the mumble at check in but someone equally less interested in service. When I pointed out the inconvenience of the pool being unavailable was compounded by the elevators being out I was gifted with a look of shock and disgust that would seem to suggest my ire of walking down three floors was somehow uncalled for. Fortunately, the staffer had the good sense not to argue at that point and I was glad to make me way out the front doors, thankfully one of the few hotel perks that were still working.

For nearly $200 a night I didn’t think I was asking too much to have working elevators, a pool I could enjoy or a breakfast I could actually eat without choking down. But alas, that was too much to ask for this location.

I’ve stayed at many Hampton Inn’s over the years and from time to time there have been problems as is expected. I’m not looking for perfection, that’s unrealistic. But each time I’ve experienced issues in the past the staff have been understanding, apologetic and interested in doing what they could to make things right. That doesn’t seem to be the case here, which was the most disappointing part of our experience.

My advice, spend a few more bucks and pick a different location for a better experience, it’s just not...

I booked this hotel over a year in advance for my July wedding. There was a clear and cut contract. The communication of the manager was very up and down. I was told they were switching management continuously but in May they secured a manager named Austin. My fiance and I had tried contacting the manager through the hotel phone and email multiple times and either didn’t get through to him or he never contacted us back. We even went to the lengths of driving an hour there to speak with him and he wasn’t there. The woman at the front desk called him and spoke with him and he ensured us he would be calling us back on the Monday of the following work week. Not to our surprise, we never got a call and had to continuously reach out to the hotel AGAIN. Once we got to the hotel, we check in fine and everything went smoothly. I did hear a few guests weren’t able to check in at 3:00 which is their designated check in time. The night of the wedding, we came back to a handwritten note stating “dining room area is closed on 7/11 at 1:00am” on every single table in the dining room. I understand if there are rules for the dining area, but none were given to us and none were told to us upon check in the day before. Out contract stated we could use the dining area as an after party for our wedding and the manager, Austin, even asked for a copy of this and knew about it. He never once told us any regulations about times or restrictions. All he did was write passive aggressive notes for each table in the dining room. It was very frustrating to see those notes after coming home at 12am from our 11pm ending time wedding thinking our after party was secured. When confronted, he was very rude and was not abiding by the contract. It was not worth arguing about and ruining the night but he is not a good representation of the hotel and needs to be more professional and understand his job title. The...

Let me start off by saying the most recent review is from a year ago, and before that four years ago. They must be under new management. Seriously, this is the worst hotel experience I have ever had. Booked a block of rooms for my wedding guests - had at LEAST 15 rooms booked, gave them a ton of business, but that did not stop the staff from being extremely rude and unprofessional to all of us. They guaranteed me (in writing) a shuttle all day between my venue and the hotel for my guests, however, two nights before my wedding they told me the driver won't start his shift until 3pm and will only make a couple trips back and forth. They told me they were doing this as a courtesy and I should be thankful. Excuse me!? They also said shuttles don't run on weekends... When exactly are weddings?? Not to mention, the driver drove crazy, was speeding, and hit a curb! On top of it all, my parents' room was leaking water from the ceiling and they wouldn't fix it or move them. My parents had to put a garbage can underneath to catch all the water. They told my maid of honor, who booked her room well in advance, that they don't have a room for her - they gave her room away! The woman I dealt with literally yelled at me for all my friends and family to hear, and the man that my father spoke with yelled at him. They also tried to charge my guests more than the group rate we were given. To top it off, the breakfast was disgusting - seriously. I was so embarrassed to have my guests stay there and for the ones who attempted to eat there. There are other hotels in the area - trust me, book a different hotel. I don't even know how this one is still...

We stayed here for 12 nights over Christmas and New Year and while I understand that’s a busy time for hotels there were a few things that were lacking. Hot water was very inconsistent. Almost non-existent if you got showered later in the morning. Our room also didn’t have cold water form the tap at either sink and the shower could barely get cold (unless the water was lukewarm from the lack of hot water) and was almost scalding. We chose this room specifically so we were near an external door for our dog and only had guests on one side of us. The elevators were out of service the entire stay which was fine for us on the ground floor except we were right by the stair well that everyone else had to trudge up and down and that door was LOUD. Breakfast was the same stuff everyday and while bananas were available the first few days, they disappeared for the rest of the stay. We bought 2 ice cream sandwiches from the shop and upon opening them at our room discovered they were barely frozen and then even leaving them in our hotel freezer for 3 days didn’t freeze them. The room is a little tired, we had a dent in the wall that needs fixed asap. A few pieces of the furniture need some tlc too. WiFi was terrible. As diamond members we are supposed to get the “premium” internet but if that’s what we got I can’t imagine what the non-premium was like. Overall this place is fine but don’t go in expecting much. We stayed here for convenience of being close to family but I wouldn’t stay here again.

Overall a nice experience. Acessing the hotel can be a bit tricky unless you are *very* familiar with that stretch of road. But overall it is conveniently close to major highways. Quiet, comfortable room. It was a handicapped room and there was ample space to move around the room and the bathroom with a wheelchair. **Dog friendly**. The complimentary breakfast was good but I had two small quibbles. First, they are located in North New Jersey and are surrounded by many good bagel shops. The bagels they offered were mediocre, there are local bagels that wouldn't have cost the hotel much more. Also, I wish that the toasters got hotter, quicker. I didn't have time to do more than heat the surface of my bagel with no colour won't because there were people behind me and I had to get on the road.
