I wish you could smell these pictures. Immediately felt off stepping into the lobby. Before booking please note that the building is under new ownership. The restaurant is different. The rooms are not as pictured. They are extremely lived in and run down. Every part of the building we were able to enter was heavily saturated in strange smells. The pictures have to be at least a decade old. I would rethink leaving such a lengthy review but I want to save others from wasting their earned money. Upon arrival it seemed just as advertised so I was pretty content. Stepping into the lobby, bags in hand, ready to check in, you are greeted with no one at the front desk and a potent porta potty-like smell. Someone was waiting ahead for service but still there was no one. We all stood in line for few minutes before they gave up on waiting and left. We stepped forward to wait for service. Still no one. After a while we gave a “hello?” And heard someone walking, who eventually approached us. Customer service was good. The woman was very kind so I was feeling better. So I gave the benefit of the doubt, maybe the other guests have been in and out all day causing that smell. Getting to the room quickly changed that theory. Open the door and you’re immediately hit with another smell. Granted, it was a “smoking room”. It absolutely reeked of cigarettes and other unidentifiable stenches. Aside from the smell you get one ceiling light in the room that’s almost touching the window. I will applaud them for a clean bathroom but i didn’t actually fully step in. I just peeked because I was so put off by the smell of the room itself. Not much more time was spent in that hotel so I’m not sure what else would’ve been uncovered. I won’t go on much more. The pictures speak for themselves. I wish I would’ve taken more but something was telling me to get out. Aside from the smell, the energy is just terrible. Does not feel “homey” at all. The one associate we did get to meet was very sweet and did her job perfectly! This is the owners issue that needs to be handled. Clean the bedding. At least shake the hair off the pillows. Update your pictures please. It’s false advertising.

This inn is disgusting! This area is closely comparable to north end of Flint, MI. The one star is for staff member, Amara. Very sweet! Once we got into room 127-the window was cracked and can easily be broken into. It reeks of cigarettes. The lady next to us was for sure on drugs (not THC). I would guess heroin. The floors were dirty and the bed had a stains. Room 128 was even more disgusting. Floors not sweeped or mopped. Corners of the room disgusting. Window flimsy. Cloudy window. Air conditioner smells like musky urine. The sheets are dingy yellow. The door didnt lock. Both rooms have windows that all you have to do is push on them and they unlock. There is no secure latch. We're in the room forty minutes which took us time to unpack, look at the room, and reach out to hotel.com. Once we made contact with hotel.com , we packed our belongings up and turned our keys in. We explained our safety & health concerns to front desk and she said, " Because you were in there for 40 minutes, Abraham , the manager will not give you a refund." We asked for his contact information and she declined to give it. She said," he doesnt have business contact and is in and out.." I said, " You can do a walk through on the rooms and see nothing is wrong to them other then us looking at the sheets on the bed." She declined to do a walk through. I let her know we have pictures and videos. The front desk lady we spoke to (early 50s/white/blonde hair) was extremely rude and walked away once we pulled our phone out to record her behavior & conversation. I would never stay here on a budget. You are better off sleeping in your car. Side note.... Hotels.com took our concerns serious with the window being cracked & door not locking. They are working on the refund, which is up to Abraham, the owner. If owner declines, I will take it to BBB, Health Department, Building Code, and above. I will have his property investigated for safety concerns and property negligence.

Perhaps I'm too nice and my priorities are in the wrong place, seeing that Im giving this a 3 star review. But, it did have a bed. The bed was visually clean, and I had no signs of bugs/bites/whatever. Thats about all I can say for good stuff. Bad stuff? Well. You get to your room. The first thing I notice is the strong wiff of smokers-house masked with whatever scent spray they used to try to hide it. Sure, this isnt their fault if a previous guest smoked in the room and voided policy. But, common. Lysol or whatever ya'll use isnt the remedy. Then, somewhat more mildly concerning was the favr the door's lock doesn't work. They rely on the keycard latch which .. i guess. Often the manual lock still functions as a secondary. The door "larch" lock was literally ripped off. Its like the room was broken into in the past and they didnt care to fix it. So apparently peoples saftey in that sense is pretty low on their list. Holes in the bedsheets / curtains...but, thats sorta whatever to me sense eh. Cosmetics. Its a old place, so seeing such stuff and dirt in corners was "Part of the vibe" like a dressed up old town feel. In all it wasn't horroble. But yeah, that strong stale smoke smell + door locks non existing aside the electronic keycard one ( not too reliable ) my friend had enough concern that he put stuff infront of the door incase someone broke in hahaha isnt hard with those keycard locks. And no, i didn't ask service to assign a new room. Its their job to make sure stuff is up to standards before deciding its a room to assign to people. Someone else mentioned the F'ed up locks and was told thats "expected" apparently? No thanks.

The rooms are outfitted with a complimentary smell of cheap cigarettes and stale biological smells. Being a budget hotel, you should expect this smell to be USA Gold level cigarettes and not Camel like a more high end hotel. This is to be expected. This has the unexpected but welcomed bonus of extra eyeball lubrication when the tears automatically start.||||The AC's are themed. They function well. They are themed with an aesthetic that suggests "1990's appliance dump pile in woods" chic.||||I didn't use my television but next door's TV worked well, even at 3 am. Every word and music note were crystal clear. Note well: the walls are only thin enough for audio, NOT video.||||Wifi generously supplied by the hotel gives hints and flirtations of connectivity. This is great for those guests who rue routine and need excitement in their life. For those who need stability and consistency, I recommend using your cellular service to stay in touch with the internet. ||||The bathrooms don't breed confidence or give off what you'd describe as either a "clean" or "welcoming" vibe. This sort of inclusion to the unhomed or crust punk communities is a nice, thoughtful touch. Complimentary toiletries are not environmentally friendly since there's more packaging than product BUT thankfully, there's not much of either to worry over. The bathtub and shower look sketchy but the black mold that covers the corners is a neat accent. In leu of an exhaust fan, the bathroom has a window you can open. During your downtime, you can play spot the voyeur as you take care of your hygiene needs.||||There is a decent sized fridge available in the room. It has a feature that lets you know it's running by filling the entire room with sound when it runs that compliments the neighbor's TV quite well.||||My room was equipped with a chair and dresser that houses the TV, fridge, and modest microwave. It also has TWO outlets (which is double the usual one other rooms get) available to charge the 5 electronics I brought. There is no desk, no ironing board or iron to get in your way to slow you down. The windows are privacy minded with a clever amount of dirt, fog, scratches, and cracks and therefore are difficult to see through. However, it was still thoughtful of them to provide curtains that even block out some of the sun. In my room, the curtains had what one would describe as a "mustard yellow" patina with cigarette tar accent. It really brings the room together. ||||Bring a sleeping bag and camp out on the bed. Promptly dispose of sleeping bag when done using it.||||Wear shoes at all time. Even in bed. Even in the shower. Do not ask questions, just trust me on this.||||In my bathroom, you get some door frame around the door. This gives unique insight into the wall structure of the building that other hotels simply do not offer.||||My room also had complimentary sound. There's a constant sound of broken washing machine, underwater microphone, the reverse alarm noise of a Tesla, and a stereotypical science fiction movie UFO noise. It does this in the key of d minor, though the melody is admittedly somewhat lacking. They don't look happy to be here, as if working here has ruined their soul. This is another sort of inclusive detail that again, other hotels simply lack. For anyone who has ever ordered fast food, you can see that same 1000 yard stare in both employees. It forced me to support the local McDonald's because it made me hungry. The staff don't harass you TOO much either, falling within the modest range of "more than not" and "less than a lot".||||The stairs going up to the second floor of the motel portion of the business are nice and spongy with plenty of give when stepped on, good for sore feet. The hand rails are mostly rusted away from where they attach to the structure. Keep in mind these are cosmetic only and not to be used as functional handrails. ||||An outdoor pool is available that is free from cadavers and wildlife. ||||For your convenience, there is a restaurant attached to the main building that sells a serving of vegan...

Found a "too good to be true" rate on a popular website and decided to give the Wolf Inn a try on a Sunday night, and I was pleasantly surprised with what I encountered. My star rating reflects what it is for its category, not how it compares to a non-similar area hotel property.

The Wolf Inn is a classic Motor Lodge style hotel built about 1959, (63 Years old in 2021) with additions including the large swimming pool area (in the center of the circular parking area) completed about 1963. There's some more information about the hotel from newspaper clippings on the bulletin board in the lobby. There appears to be about 60 rooms in the motor lodge side of the hotel, with an additional 30 rooms in the "Executive Suites" side of the property. Sandusky icon "Jolly Donut" is also located on the property, check their Google Reviews for more details on this classic stainless steel highway diner framed inside a brick building!

Upon arrival, Check-in was friendly and smooth, Got my key card and headed to my "Double" room with a guest maximum of 2. Upon arriving at the room, I noticed that the door locks were the more modern "tap" type. Upon entering the room, I observed that the room was much smaller than modern hotel rooms, perhaps 11'x11' not including the bathroom. Inside the room was a double bed, a microwave, refrigerator, table, chair, nightstand, dresser and LED TV (with about 50 channels.) Some of the fittings and furniture appeared to be original to the hotel at opening. The room had a fresh, clean smell, and the bathroom was fully remodeled with updated tile walls, fixtures and large vintage mirror. The hotel-style AC unit appeared less than 2 years old, worked GREAT. The room appeared nicely cleaned, and the property appeared to be spotless and decorated with plastic tropical plants and a few skeletons here and there riding bikes and fishing off the top of the pool filtration building; Quirky, but kind of cool.

All rooms on the Motor Lodge side of the Wolf Inn open outside overlooking the parking lot and the large, well-lit, fenced outdoor pool area; Rooms in the "Executive Suites" open to an interior hallway in a separate building. Unless specifically booking a "smoking" room, assume all rooms are non-smoking; Multiple ashcans are provided on all walkways and sidewalks, so save yourself the $250 cleaning fee.

Plusses? Nice and clean inside and out, great Wi-Fi and air conditioning, micro and fridge in room, tons of channels on the TV, on-site restaurant and 3 pizza shops within walking distance, Super clean swimming pool and pool area open 9AM-9PM daily, parking lot well maintained. Ice machine is always full and the shower water pressure is great and it's HOT, maybe too hot, you were warned. The "utility" factor of this hotel is 10 out of 10.

Minuses? Beds could use an update; Not in the "bows in the middle" kind of way, but a little too firm for some folks. Towels and bedding were clean and in line with a budget property, but may be too thin for some.

This hotel is not similar to modern cookie-cutter hotels, it was designed as budget accommodations for travelers more than 60 years ago. It was pretty darn clean on the date of my visit, and you'll remember your visit long after you'll forget a stay at the same-old, same-old franchise hotel. For me, price was the most important part of my booking this hotel, but I felt that I did get more value than the price paid, small price to pay for a trip in a time machine.

PS: Prices vary widely from weekday to weekends when Sandusky is busier. When looking at higher pricing for this hotel, call the hotel directly to book or to confirm the type of room you...

I have been following a couple of Cedar Point fan pages for a while in preparation of our visit to the area. During my search for hotels, Wolf Inn was suggested by a couple of people. There were also many that warned me to stay away. I like to make decisions based on my own experiences so after 2 called to the hotel and many questions, I booked 5 nights for 4 people. We arrived July 26 and were given a second level room right by the exit doors of the executive building. The first thing we noticed was that this was a separate building with no desk staff. The second thing was that all exit doors remain open and accessible to anyone. We entered our room and found that 2 of the drop ceiling tiles were missing from the bathroom. We contacted the front desk and maintenance came immediately to replace them. However, within the hour one was already wet from an apparent roof leak. We brought it to their attention again but the wet staining continued to grow throughout our stay. There was rust in the tub and the shower curtain was very discolored. The beds were covered in very oversized quilts with burn holes in both of them. The blankets were small and very scratchy. Sheets appeared clean. Mattresses were not terrible but some springs could be felt. We asked for a free folding bed but it was not at all usable and we had to get our own air mattress. (2 adults in a full size bed was a bit tight.) The carpet was very sticky and left black residue on socks and bare feet. The TV cable did not work and after notifying maintenance, it was promptly fixed but went out again about 30 mins later. We did not complain about it again bc it was more hassle than it was worth. There was only one outlet to be used for my fan and charging cell phones for 4 people. Beyond all of this, the biggest issue was the SMELL. When the ceiling tiles were being fix we asked why the room had such a strong chemical smell like fuel or oil. It was assumed it was due to a roof repair and thought that the missing tiles allowed the smell to penetrate the room. Come morning our daughter was so nauseous that she couldn’t go to Cedar Point with us and I had a headache. The next day was a repeat of the same. When realized our symptoms improved when we were out of the room. We asked to switch rooms and were moved downstairs. At first we were pleased with the switch. But as the day got hotter outside, the chemical smell returned inside. Again the headaches and nausea returned. We realized we were being poisoned by something being vented into the hotel rooms that gets worse when the AC units are running. The hotel manager confirmed the smell when she came to our room and suggested the attached restaurant may have something to do with it, although this was not confirmed. We ended up having to leave a day early because of toxic smell. I think some visitors confuse the smell with cigarette smell, which is also prominent here. Despite all the issues, the owner refused any kind of reimbursement. Clearly health and safety is not a priority at this hotel. The staff were all very kind but clearly the owner isn’t interested in quality customer service. Under better leadership, it could be a great option for families visiting...
