There are very few places for which I would administer a 1/5 star rating but the online presence of The Broadway Hotel needs to be corrected. We have made the unfortunate mistake of staying here several times in the hope that "next time it will be different and Sue must have been off her game." Unfortunately, this past spring's stay will be our last. To be fair, the rooms are beautiful, bordering on cliche Americana. The parking is easy. Access to the grocery store, The White Front, the brewery, and the charming downtown of Phillipsburg is easy. However, this is where the warmth and welcoming ends. Sue, the owner, has made this place increasingly difficult to enjoy and I will not be returning ever again. 1. The kitchen appliances are off-limits to anyone who wants to augment their paltry "breakfast" supplied by Sue with anything resembling good, substantial food. 2. Sue has a surprisingly and off-putting affinity for sardonic and disrespectful communication. i.e. When we were first "caught" heating food in the microwave beyond the allotted 1 minute (yes, I'm serious) we were not approached in a respectful manner but rather we received oblique comments referring to our smelly food (standard fare) and scolded in tones that are reminiscent of those we all hear in our adolescence. 3. Sue has a fanatical belief on how people are to behave in her establishment and is quick to ensure that you know her strict expectations (kitchen hours, lobby hours, waking hours, etc.) but only after you've mistakenly broken said expectations. Beyond any doubt she has among the worst customer care skills that I have ever experienced and I feel it my duty to let those who might be contemplating a stay at The Broadway. My suggestion: Save yourself the headache of accidentally upsetting the host and take your business elsewhere. There are other lodging opportunities available in town as well as reasonable vacation rentals. Lastly, beware to not accidentally leave behind any personal belongings - Sue will require you to pay for shipping on any items accidentally left behind. Before leaving this feedback on Google, I did contact Sue via telephone in an effort to clear the air. Her charming english accent rang true on the phone. I was hopeful. It soon turned into a one-sided conversation of her telling me about all the reasons why I was being illogical and untruthful in my concerns about the way we were treated as guests. If the customer is always right, she surely doesn't buy into this philosophy. Au contraire - I was repeatedly interrupted and made to believe that she was uninterested in resolving any of my concerns. The nature of our stay was: 9) 30 to 42 year-old adults and 7) small children. This was not at all a young, irresponsible crew but rather a good group of friends looking for an easy stay while we enjoyed the slopes of Discovery. A shame, really. With new ownership this place...
Read moreMy wife and I recently spent a night at The Broadway Hotel, a charming Bed and Breakfast right in the heart of downtown Philipsburg, MT, and I can honestly say it was one of the best getaways I’ve had in a while. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed—check-in was a breeze, and the hosts couldn’t have been friendlier. (Fun fact: they’re Baylor alumni, and their warmth really set the tone for my stay.)
My room was decorated in a quirky cowboy theme, complete with vintage Western art and rustic touches that made it feel both fun and cozy. It definitely added a unique flair that made me smile every time I walked in. After settling in, I wandered out to the back patio, which quickly became my favorite spot. It’s a comfortable little oasis, perfect for unwinding—and yes, it’s an ideal place if you enjoy a cigar in the evening.
The hotel itself was spotless and incredibly quiet, which made for a restful night’s sleep. Even though I was only there for one night, I could tell that cleanliness is a top priority here. In the morning, breakfast was simple but satisfying: muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit, and a solid cup of coffee to start the day.
What really stood out to me—besides the inviting atmosphere—was the location. Being right downtown, I had easy access to all the fun shops and some really good restaurants just a short walk away. Philipsburg has a lot of character, and The Broadway Hotel is the perfect base for exploring it.
I’ll admit, it’s on the pricier side, but honestly, it’s worth every penny for the experience, the ambiance, and the top-notch hospitality. I’d especially recommend this place for couples looking for a cozy, romantic escape. If you’re thinking of staying, book early—it’s a popular spot for a reason!
All in all, my stay at The Broadway Hotel was wonderful, and I can’t wait for an...
Read moreWhat a surprise! Absolutely the best stop made on my road trip through Idaho and Montana. I wasn’t sure about the place when I made the reservation, a historic hotel is a bit out of the norm for me as I can’t count on a consistent quality. This wonderful place exceeded all hopes. Scott the owner and town council president treated me like a VIP, and btw, he's a great source for local info. The place was immaculate! It just so happened that there were no other guests on my arrival and he let me choose my room. And so many great choices there are. It’s a completely renovated historic building, with all modern amenities and as clean as any of the top hotel chains I’ve ever stayed in. The floors and common areas all hark back to the heydays of the 1880’s when the town was the roaring mining town that put it on the map. The hotel rooms are all themed and done in such a professional manner and with such good taste I was very impressed. The main sitting lobby has the old wood burning fire stove and real skinned furniture that drop you right back into the day. The large central kitchen is all new with all modern amenities. Beds and everything else were very comfortable, and this is also a large facility with lots of room so you don’t feel cramped. I enjoyed it so much I extended my stay and I’m really looking forward to a...
