Well my experience here, definitely 5 out of 5 stars!! I am a big reviewer on Yelp and now on Google, and I also live by reading ALL the reviews at any business, before I arrive.
So, after leaving another hotel chain (luxury brand) that morning, I decided to leave (did NOT extend my reservation for the next day that was booked) and took at look at a Extended Stay, at this location, PHX - North - 8808 N Black Cyn Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85051.
I chose to make a reservation here and have NOT regreted since!!
I first phoned into this hotel and Vanessa answered the phone. I explained that I was mobile, disabled, and didn't have to time to book, but she got me in and let me know that room would be waiting and to come see her at the front desk when I arrived.
Knowing too I was disabled, she really made me feel welcome and that was just awesome! I let her know I just left the Marriott in North PHX, mind you, over rude and disconnected guest services employees throughout several of their valley facilities where I was staying, since I had arrived here over 3 weeks ago. So, it was nice to be greeted with that welcoming spirit! FIRST IMPRESSION ARE LASTING ONES...
Then, to find my suite beautifully decorated with nice modern furniture, deco colors on the walls, white wood louvered blinds, a bed that was so comfortable, I never wanted to get out of it reach am.
Then the final touch, same quality linens as the my Marriott suite, with an impressive, super clean and polished suite as nice as Marriott suites!! So, impressive, with great pricing too, that I wound staying several days more and I am still on property and counting. I am from out of town on personal business and have decided to extend my stay...
I can't forget to mention the other staff members who were nothing but professional and live the meaning of "guest/concierge services" and truely know the meaning of hospitality here at ExtendedStay North PHX - Metro Center location!! These friendly employess made me feel like I was family and assisted me and others guests while I was here on the property:
Heather, thank you too at the front desk & Valerie...
Valerie, Eric, Micheal and Scott in Maintenance, cleanest & well maintained rooms, on point & polished. Nice..... That's way impressive too, since I have extreme cleanliness standards in my home and businesses!!
BETH what a team, and you too for helping me out on the website hiccup and getting me into my fav suite!! You get accolades for such a beautiful property and the amazing staff at your side...
I now have my go-to hotel in PHX for all of my upcoming trips and it is the lil secret here in the area, the "Taj Majal" of eco hotels, for sure!!
Oh great location to anywhere in PHX METRO too. The hotel is located right off I-17, at the Dunlap exit and there is ALSO an on-ramp to I-17 south, right as you exit the driveway of the hotel. Love the ease of coming and going from the property to a...
Read moreSsssoooo where to start.... I am writing this from our room. A room which is not the room we are paying extra for.
Initial experience should have been red flag enough. Walked into the "lobby" and all I could smell was weed. When I began speakong with the absolutely useless person at the front desk, I attempted to be very nice and smile and be friendly. I was met with a monotoned, stand-offish, disrespectful clerk who was at least, a part of the weed smell looming.
Ok, no worries, everyone needs a job, and not everyone is a social butterfly. Found it absolutely hillarious that as im signing away my life, there's all this stuff in the contract about NOT being allowed to smoke marijuana even if medically prescribed.... yyyyeeeaaa ok.
But I get it, no worries, I'll just push my special needs son, with chronic lung disease, through the weed smoke filled elevator on our way to our ADA room.....
BUT WAIT, we were given the wrong room type. Instead of the Deluxe Queen Bed Suite w/ Sleeper Sofa ADA that we were confirmed for, and paid for in our awesome check in process, we walk into the most basic room with no pull out sofa and not ADA.
No worries though, we get it, mistakes happen, we will just go down to the front desk and clear it up. I'm sure they'll be super apologetic, and do whatever they can to fix the mix up immediately.
NOPE, not even as much as an I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Instead, stand off extraordinaire, front desk pot head says..... Theres no manager or supervisor here, and won't be until Monday. Nothing can be done, but feel free to try back on Monday.......
Uhhhh, it's friday and this room doesnt sleep enough people. Not too mention, my disabled son will not be able to shower until Monday now. But not your problem. Not worth a call to anyone to see what can be done. Not even a sorry.
Fast forward to Saturday morning where we now realize the room doesnt even have enough towels for the number of occupents in a room. Well I'll just go down to the front desk.... it's now 9:04 am, someone has got to be there. Go down and the metal cage is still closed, but I can hear someone shuffling around. Pick up the phone and hear him answer.....
So, different guy i'd imagine, so i'll give him the benefit of the doubt that it was one bad employee.... "good morning Sir, any chance i could get a towel as we were short towels and would like to get our day going."
His answer..... "Not until 10..." and then silence... He had hung up.
So in summary, HORRIFIC CUSTOMER SERVICE, HORRIBLY MANAGED, and unapologetically upcharge their customers for rooms they do not actually put their disabled customers in.
I guess we will find out Monday if their corporate offices and executives care any more than their front line employees. In the meantime, RUN AS FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE...
Read moreI was in Phoenix for a month to get some hiking done. I decided on the Value Place Dunlap location because its close to the hiking trails. There are three affordable hotels to stay in this area. Value Place, Home Stead, and the Budget Lodge. No human being should ever stay at the Budget Lodge. I reviewed them also with pics. And you wont believe how filthy that place is. Ignore that place altogether. But Anyway.
The Value Place hotel at Dunlap is in a great location if you are in Arizona for hiking or backpacking. You are walking distance from trails that go in four directions for at least 15 miles each way. So you get at least four days straight of beautiful non stop scenery. But thats not the only reason to stay there. You are also in walking distance to just about anything else you can think of. Right across the street there is a mall called Metrocenter Mall. Its a huge complex with stores inside the mall and outside. Any retail store you can think of is probably located there. They even have an amusement park called Castles N' Coasters. It sits on about 10 acres of land and has roller costers, drop towers, etc.
A mile south to Northern Blvd there is a Kmart. And grocery stores Albertsons and Sprouts are located on 19th and Norththern.
Now about Value Place. As advertised it is clean, safe, and very affordable. Will was the Manager while I was there, and he's a really nice guy. My room was clean all through out. All the appliances were name brand name. Huge fridge. Air conditioner blew ice cold on 90 degree days. They take security serious because there are security cameras everywhere. I paid a monthly rate advertised in the local paper of $699 for the month. There is a $100 security deposit. I paid with a credit card and got the deposit back in two days.
I want to give this hotel a huge thumbs up for their internet service. There is no wireless. Its wired in the room. It cost $10 a week or $25 a month. And the speeds are over 50Mbps. I travelled all over the country and even at 4 star hotels I have never seen speeds that high in a hotel.
So over all my stay was fantastic. Never had a single problem. Got a lot of hiking done and took some beautiful pictures. I noticed the negative feedback from other people and I have to say its the farthest thing from the truth. Will the Manager was great, and very hospitable. Some of the comments were about his race, so that should tell you all you...
