I was here on Saturday, during MaricopaCon 2022 (a tabletop gaming convention), as we'd decided we wanted to eat lunch out, and I realized I hadn't eaten at Fuddrucker's since well before 2020.
Unfortunately, due to a few decently major reasons, this is the first non-excellent review I've had to write. Still somewhat solid, though. I'll start with the negatives.
Said negatives are:
-The whole place reeked of chemical cleaner. -The floor was sticky -Both ketchup dispensers were basically empty -The burger was mediocre (it was cooked well and was served fresh, but the meat had very little flavor compared to the other places I've eaten at, the bun was more puffed air than substance, and the cheese was, well, basic American cheese. Didn't even quite hit the Kraft level there). -The sugar cookies were extremely dry and crumbly - far more than I remember them being in the past, or at any other American diner that's had them.
Upsides:
+The water was crisp and clean, and the ice made it almost too cold to drink right away - just the way I love it. Cup was clean and -didn't- reek of chemicals, either, although that should be the norm rather than the exception. +The wedge fries were delicious. Perfectly seasoned, although they were a bit too dense for my tastes. +The cheese sauce is to die for. Hot, fresh, creamy, and delicious, perfect for the fries.
All in all, a solid 3/5. The cheese sauce actually almost brought it up to 4/5, but the chemical cleaner scent made it a bit harder to enjoy it.
Based on this experience, as well as past ones when I was younger (when Fiddlesticks was around), I wouldn't recommend eating here for burgers or getting sugar cookies for a dessert, but if you want to just swing by for twenty minutes or so for a snack, I highly recommend combining the fries with their cheese dip. It's the reason I plan on going to the one closer to...
Read moreAfter almost 3 years of abstaining from eating out we finally went to our favorite burger place.
Very disappointing. Wife was pleased with her burger; she likes em burnt and it was. I like mine medium...not overly cooked which mine was.
Condiments were all fresh and looked GOOD.
No silverware...plastic stuff in a baggie..no knives. Try spreading mustard and mayo with a fork.
They advertised the cremecycle shakes were back...They weren't. Settled from strawberry...it was ok. They give you a big glass and the metal shake container with more shake in it...and a small plastic spooooon. No long reach spoon to scoooope it out without reaching halfway into the metal container.
Fries...BAD how can you make a bad fry...DRY...Burnt. kinda went to a powder form when you started chewing. We didn't eat 1/3 of the fries we each received.
This was the Fuddruckers on I-17 and Dunlap in Phoenix....for some reason we were informed it is now a privately owned Fuddruckers, ie franchise not the corporate own establishment as...
Read moreI used to be a big fan of this hamburger joint. I remember back in the day of waiting an half hour to 2 hours just to eat at this place back in the late 80s and early 90s.
The first time I ate at fuddruckers was in Scottsdale on Indian Scool rd and Scottsdale road. I remember tons and tons of people dining there and had wondered wow they must really love burgers 🍔 🙃.
As we were dining here for early dinner on Sunday it brought all those memories of eating here. It was sad and weird to see only a few people in the restaurant.
As you can see 👀 there are soooo many burger joints in the valley now. To me having those type of options can be overwhelming and hard to choose where to eat.
Having had being a fan I bought hamburger buns by the dozens for my wedding back in Dec 2001. Because it smelled amazing especially when they cooked it in-house 😋.
Anyway, thank you for the memories and I wanted to share my experiences with this restaurant. We had a nice meal...
