Had to share this after reading the comments made by a few other previous guests. I find it so interesting how two groups of people can gather at the same place and time, but walk away having such different views. I am hoping that the other comments were their true opinions and not bitter expressions of a weekend that failed for much more personal reasons. I am not taking a stand either way as I do not know them, but in my estimation these are untrue and unfair descriptions of the Motel we stayed at. I did notice that one of the comments pertained to an angry guest who's complaints ended by stating that the "police kicked the door in during a warrant sweep". Need I say more? Bottom line, no matter where you go it's a guarantee you will always find what your looking for even if you didn't know you were.
The following review is a positive review submitted by myself. You can however if you desire view the other comments I spoke of at the following link. I do hope you'll choose the positive for your own well being.. All the unhappy negative vibes some people choose to put out. It's just to bad that we don't all have a rule of responsibility if we are going to write a review. Perhaps submitting receipts as proof of our claims. I still have mine!! :-)

Motel 6 Phoenix - Black Canyon 4130 N Black Canyon Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85017
I had an absolutely exceptional experience at this hotel. During the time between giving notice and the landlord renting our apartment to the next tenant right away, and our next home still being fixed up we stayed at this Motel 6 and loved it.
Was thrilled by the room. The sheets were very high quality, not at all what I expected. Don't know if we were just lucky or if all the beds are as good as the one our room? We had, a super supportive pillow top mattress.. Would have expected to find something comparable at a five star resort, but Motel 6? They are a great economy hotel chain, but this was really unexpected. Room was in top notch condition, clean as a whistle. The A/C was absolutely cold as ice thankfully with the temperatures exceeding 110 degrees outside.
The staff there was awesome to us. Made leaving our new home and being in limbo much easier for us. The front desk person ell filled the roll of neighbors for us. With friendly calls to come and have coffee in the early evenings, and maintenance that always waved and stopped for a short chat we felt less like fish out of water and more at home. The housekeeping staff was super which made that feeling of being right at home even more pleasant. They kept our room spotless! Guess you could say it was better than being at home in some ways! It was obvious to us that the manager of this hotel knew his job well as the staff was as courteous and professional as any I have encountered. Even the security guards were helpful and friendly.
To anyone looking for a professionally run, super clean, comfortable, home away from home atmosphere, I highly recommend this Motel 6..We've stayed at loads of Motels in the past and never enjoyed ourselves as...
Read moreMy god this was about the worst hotel I have ever been in. I wish they "left the light off" and I kept driving down the road. On the positive side the staff all were very nice and friendly. That and the "locked parking" are why I gave this two stars versus one. Now on to the bad. I checked in quite late (had car troubles), and had to find a place for the night so I could get it repaired in the morning. In any case, quite sketchy people checking in at the same time as me. The next day saw many more wandering around the parking lot. The night I was there, the first bad thing was the cockroaches. Saw my first one there, killed it. Later that night saw another, but he was fast and got behind a floorboard before I could get him. That alone made for a wonderful night of really restful sleep! (Yea right..) Other then the thought of bugs crawling across me while I slept what really made it a special night was the security guard banging on doors above me. That plus the people in the room walking back and forth at 3 am. Sound travels really well in this place! As for the room, the bed was ok for comfort, I've slept in far worse. The room also has the usual fake wood floor, which I imagine makes it easy for them to mop up blood when the rooms turn into crime scene. (Don't bring luminol and a black light!). Also of note, the bathroom apparently was used as a kennel at some point, as the door/door frame was pretty chewed up by a pack of dogs probably. Another wonderful trait of this hotel was the neighborhood. I took my car into the mechanic first thing then got a ride back to my room so I could attempt a couple more hours of sleep and someone close by at another property had some kind of PA system cranking some really annoying radio station, or some kind of spoken word just loud enough to keep me from falling asleep. Of course it stopped when I decided to check out. In any case, yea... I rarely review hotels, but I stay in them about a month a year, and I had to make sure to put some notes about this special diamond in the rough. Do yourself a favor. Keep driving, spend a few more bucks, and actually...
Read moreThis location has some rooms inside a locking gate and others are not. The original room assigned was outside of the gate and I immediately requested to change. I never took the keys out of the employees hand. I was informed I would have to wait 30 minutes for a room. Check-in was at 3pm I arrived at 5pm. I finally received room keys at 530pm. Once in the room an armed security guard came to the door accusing me of going to the orginal room (outside the gate) and complaining about someone's personal belongings being in there. He said the office staff told him that after this occurance is when I requested a room change. I informed him I never left the office with the keys. He continued standing in the door with an intimidating stance accusing me of lying. He then began questioning if everyone in the room was registered to be there. Myself, sister and her three children were there all under the age of 6. We were all uncomfortable with the exchange. I felt as though I had to usher him away from the door. Shortly after that we left to get food. Upon returning to the room we saw baby cockroaches crawling on the floor and walls. We immediately went to the office explaining the problem. They were not surprised and said there were about 6 other rooms with the same issue. The manager told me a refund was possible or room change was possible. I did not want a room change as they had already assigned a room with roaches knowingly and did not want to go through that again. I explained to her (the manager)that I used a large amount of funds for this stay and was in a tough spot in regards to the timeliness of the refund. The manager explained they do not complete their audit process until 5am the following morning. After that assurance and speaking with my bank I requested the refund. The following morning I contacted my bank and was informed they had submitted the final receipt after issuing my refund. I have stayed at a Motel 6 before but after being lied on by staff, cornered by armed security and issued a room with an infestation knowingly I wonder what the morals of the company are and see a decline in the brand of...
