Hidden Gem Alert: Louisiana Fried Chicken & Wings on 27th Ave and Indian School
Today I finally stopped by a restaurant I’ve passed countless times but hesitated to try—mostly because it always looked empty and I rarely saw cars out front. But let me tell you, I have no idea why this place isn’t packed, because the food and service were absolutely worth it.
I was craving something new, and Louisiana Fried Chicken & Wings popped into my mind. I went in hungry and curious, and left impressed and full. I ordered the fried fish combo with fries, plus a 12-piece wing set—half strawberry hot, half mango habanero. I upgraded to a combo to try their coleslaw, red beans and rice, and some fried zucchini on the side.
The fried fish was exactly what I hoped for—crispy on the outside, flaky on the inside. The tartar sauce had a unique, house-made flavor that added a pleasant twist. The fries were seasoned and crispy, and the wings were the real stars. Both flavors were bold and balanced. I usually expect mango habanero to be fiery, but theirs had just the right kick. The strawberry hot wings were a sweet and spicy surprise that worked beautifully.
The red beans and rice weren’t traditional, but they were flavorful and comforting. The coleslaw was a little dry, but its vinegary tang paired well with the fish, tartar, and a splash of hot sauce. As for the fried zucchini, they were breaded with what seemed like Italian breadcrumbs, and dipped in blue cheese, they were unexpectedly good.
Beyond the food, the customer service stood out. The young woman behind the counter greeted me with an infectious smile and genuine warmth. The space was clean, though the dining room felt a bit warm—but that might just be me.
One small heads-up: when you upgrade your combo, the fries and drink are charged separately. Not a dealbreaker, but good to know.
Overall, I’ll definitely be back. If you’re in the area and craving wings or fish, don’t sleep on this spot. It deserves way more love than...
Read moreBeen going here frequently since I discovered them last year because I live in area but today was the last straw. I ordered a two piece leg and thigh that’s currently priced at $6.29 (September 2025) and they charged my for a three piece only at $8.29 I know it’s only a $2 dollar difference but I didn’t get an extra piece of chicken for the $2 they charge. Was the food fresh? Yes it was but to overcharge is dumb. It was also my third visit this month the last time two weeks ago my order had a slushy with it and when the lady nonchalantly handed to me some spilled because the lid is plastic film and they punch the straw so instead of giving a different lid or putting something over it there was spill. I understand people make mistakes but it’s like these mistakes were done purposely so I will no longer be...
Read moreI went to this location with my fam after church for the first time sunday. I got the platter combo 2 chicken, 2 fish, 6 shrimp. The food was good and fresh. The breading essentially all taste the same but we'll seasoned. For me shrimp was best then chicken then fish. The side i chose was dirty rice it was pretty basic nothing exciting. This was about $16 with a drink. Which is reasonable considering all i got. Service was really good. It was fast, friendly, fresh and no mistakes. The atmosphere can stand a touch up. This place used to be a Lenny's that was there for years. Renovations can be expensive and they just moved in there so maybe if they are successful they will get around to it. All in all id definitely go again and maybe get a...
