Sorry to say, but we did NOT have a good experience. In fact, I couldn't wait to leave. I knew it would be an old house, but I was expecting charming ... it was NOT. This place, with old furniture and squeaky floors, would be good if you wanted to stay in a haunted house during Halloween. The biggest concern was how dusty the place is and the amount of spiders, bugs, and spider webs. |Our room, [Aberdeen] had no nightstands, the one lamp was on top of the mini fridge next to the bed. It was difficult to close curtains as they were made of fabric and dont slide. So, the curtains behind the bed brought daylight very early in the morning, and we decided we needed to LEAVE. There were 6 electric light switches, and it was like a scavanger-hunt to figure out which-switch-turned-which-light.|Very loud fan in the bathroom, and it turns at the same time as the light; so if someone goes to the bathroom at night, it wakes the other person up. Another issue was that we could not leave the light on to find the toilet room in the middle of the night.|The entire place needs to be deep-cleaned, including the windows and dusty ceiling fan.|The glass door knob to the bathroom is completely loose.|We didn't take a shower because there was a high tub to climb into. Besides, you had to follow instructions to completely surround the tub with the shower courtain because water would drip outside otherwise (too much of a hassle).|Breakfast: They said a box would be delivered to our door at 9:00 a.m . We did not wait and walked into town instead; the house black cat crossed our path as we were leaving to find a restaurant (continuing with the haunted house theme).|I could not sleep well because, on the ceiling, above the bed, there was a black flying bug and daddy-long-leg spiders. I kept the bedsheets over my head in case a spider fell onto the bed, AWFUL !!!!|The sink had no water pressure. Anyhow.... the list could go on and on.|Needless to say, we will not be...
Read moreLoved almost everything about this place- the set up of the whole place is cool, the location is convenient, the shared living space (living room) is full of things to keep you busy… really a great experience. The two main issues we had was the road leading in being bumpy, but that wasn’t a huge issue, the main problem was the beds. We stayed in the Edmonton (however you spell it) but I suspect that there might be the same problem in some other rooms if not all. The biggest issue with hotels, motels, B&B’s, etc are uncomfortable beds. If you can’t sleep, it isn’t worth it to risk it again. Now, this was two older adults and one young adult, but my point stands. The two older could not even get more than 1 hour of sleep, and I, the young adult, could sleep due to exhaustion but my whole body ached the next day because of the bed. We did not exert ourselves during the day, and we do travel fairly often, so there is no other excuse for the sleeping issue. It really was a bummer because we loved everything else about the place, it was almost perfect for us. Those beds need to be changed or updated, something, but if you can deal with that then I highly recommend this place. They were very nice. The breakfast was so-so, and there seemingly was hidden fees, but the overall price and...
Read moreAfter looking at all the Placerville hotel reviews, we decided on this BnB because it wasn't a chain hotel nor a modern one. Plus the location is perfect, just a short walk to downtown Placerville, altho a bit of a wee hike back up the small hill to the home, but we made it! The house is situated on perhaps a wooded parcel of about an acre, right on the edge of highway 50. And we heard very little noise from the highway and even less after 10 pm other than a siren or two. The history of the house and family was quite interesting, the furnishings old and comfy.||Our room was fine having the second bed for me and king for my traveling friend. Two beds in a BnB are hard to find! Breakfast was good and we thought way too much food but we ate it!! Perhaps a preorder card might be easier for the cook so as to save money and food when preparing? Or maybe a little conversation about what he's going to cook......just a thought. Neither of us drink OJ and failed to tell him ahead of time......||The only complaint was that the lighting needs to be improved. This isn't just with this BnB but with all hotels. There is never good reading lamps in hotels. I need to invest in a clip on light!||But the quiet, location, privacy, the old, and the history of this place will...
