Upon arriving, I noticed there were hardly any signs directing people to the self park in the back until you pull up, get out to check in only to be approached by valet that you need to drive around. They don’t want you to even park behind the parked cars and go in first. I noticed the tiny signs once I drove around though. Entering the hotel could make anyone wonder what part of the hotel they’re entering when there’s so much noise. I thought I was entering a wedding through the wrong doors. A friend showed up later and said the same thing, thinking she walked into a convention and needed to try another door somewhere. The lobby was also so noisy that I couldn’t hear the guy checking me in. I had to keep asking what he said. The rooms are pretty dark with dark walls and furniture. You get a few light colors in the shower which really does nothing but make it fun to a few. It would probably serve better to have various lights on the mirrors for outdoors, natural, indoors, etc as women tend to need different lights for makeup looks to set it correctly. Be sure to bring a speaker for white noise or ear plugs. It is EXTREMELY noisy with super cars revving their engines all night. Even on Sunday I could hear 3 cars revving late. I hardly slept the first night and the second day I bought a speaker and turned up white noise. Sadly, their JBL speakers in the room are a joke. The USB on it is to only charge a phone and not play music through it. It’s a waste for such a good brand. Whoever made up the recipes for the current drinks need help. They tasted bad. Ordered five over the span of three days. Weird ingredients that didn’t mesh well together. Salty honey with Bombay then a tasteless dried orange slice? Barely any alcohol in it. Watered down? I also asked for a drink in which the bartender asked if I had a preference of bourbon. I said no and then he gave me the cheapest bourbon blend, Crown. He also watered it down so much that it was nearly tasteless. He crushed the ice, looked like he added water, no sugar cube and handed it over. It was a drink that was all bourbon and what I got was nasty. I’m sensitive to alcohol so all it takes is one drink to feel great. I felt nothing after the Bombay drink and still felt nothing after the watery junk. That told me that the bartender doesn’t know what he’s doing or he was taught to cheat the customer. My friend ordered another drink too and ours off the menu showed to have two different flavors going at the same time that didn’t work together. Leaving the garage is annoying. The cards don’t always work which have you pushing the button for assistance. Marriott doesn’t give the option to the front desk or admin to open the gate I guess. They said they’d have to send valet to open it. So we waited. The second time we pressed the button, it opened. Not sure who has the ability to open it but it opened just by ringing the button. The card only worked on the first and last days of our stay. It’s nice the hotel has their own cafe so you don’t have to go into the restaurant to order a coffee. Problem is, they don’t know how to make Vietnamese coffee. We heard the employee tell another in training, “Just make a shot like you would normally and add the base”. No. That is not at all how to make Vietnamese coffee which is listed on their menu. If you don’t know how or don’t have the ingredients, please don’t list it as an option. It was so tasteless and watery. I usually get a hit of caffeine even with one shot of espresso but this? It was just dessert. If you can’t keep on hand Cafe du Monde grounds and keep it fresh plus condensed milk, take Vietnamese coffee off the menu. The good thing is that if you’re hungry and don’t want to eat at the hotel, there’s a few restaurants in walking distance but hint hint, the better ones are about 4 minute drive. Sadly, online the hotel restaurant is listed as being open at night and the bar too. We walked in one evening to see both shut down. We left without trying a drink and food that night. Bizarre really. Not sure why it...
Read moreStayed here before and it was good minus a few things. We travel more than average and are Marriot members and business owners. Hotel isn't busy around holidays. Except this time we are here for a long term 30 Day stay.
We opted out of regular house cleaning given we have brought more things with us than a normal short term stay and are pretty clean people. We usually just request when we would like our room cleaned, every 4-5 days.
-CONS- -When I booked, the site showed a long term rate of $199, but did not have a separate tub/shower in the description in that room rate so I opted for the next room with a rate of $219. Upon arrival the front desk let me know that all rooms have a soaking tub located inside the shower, but they are separate and not your standard combo with shower curtain. So, I am not sure why there would be a different rate. Long term Marriot rewards members and we were not offered any upgrade. We don't mind paying for a good room, service, and amenities anywhere we go,
-We brought 2 cars and would valet if they offered a long term valet rate, but that was not an option. When I asked the front desk after 4 days they said to ask a manager when we could find one. I asked another lady the next day and she pretended to have no idea if there was an option, but when I stated I had already asked someone else she said they could do $15 plus "valet tax" per car overnight vs $31 plus their "valet tax" of $2-$3, but when I checked our bill when charged, this wasn't updated. I let the then front desk guy "Tyler" know and he got this corrected for us. We are very grateful.
-We have been here about 20 days now and have requested our room be cleaned a total of 3 times; sheets changed, bathroom cleaned, and new towels. They did bring us extra towels, but our bathtub has never been cleaned so I started doing it myself.
-The 1st week we were here the bar had some plumbing issues, out of their control we understand, but they couldn't decide whether they were closing the bar or not and so we just asked for a drink with specific liquor to go. The female bartender made the drink in the back and likely put house liquor in it because I was sick the following 24 hours. (Can only drink specific liquor.)
-4 Shots of espresso w/ a splash of milk is $10. I understand uncharging as this is a hotel and the conveniences, but thats more than double of most coffee shops. (I brought my Nespresso machine so its not that big of a deal.)
-PROS- -Check in was super easy and the front desk has been great with mostly everything. Including our laundry pickup and drop offs by Nest that are unrelated to the hotel. This hotel is very walkable to Legacy West & East restaurants and shopping.
-Our room is nice and the location of our room (909) is great as we don't have to walk all the way down the hall everyday 3-4X a day and we also can not hear the elevators. Bed is very comfortable and not worn.
-Every valet person has been exceptional and gone above and beyond during our stay.
-Room service food has been good, hot, and very quick our entire stay. The prices are also very reasonable. It was nice to see the same familiar face upon delivery as well. Getting ice delivered has also been super quick and easy. Convenient ice machine on the 3rd floor as well.
-Wish there was a restaurant open during the day at the hotel, but there are plenty close by to walk to.
-The gym is never busy, plenty big, and always clean.
-The pool area has been remodeled since I was here last and now has a hot tub that is great for a Nov-Dec stay.
-The hotel itself is kept very clean and decorated beautifully for the holidays.
-Wifi seems to work ok, I havent had any issues overall. Unsure which networks are actually designated for guests or to the public.
Overall a good long term stay for hotel living, just offering feedback. Thank you all to you...
Read moreThis hotel is located in the upscale area of Plano, TX, known as Legacy West. The location is very convenient as it is close to wonderful restaurants and shops. The hotel is very modern and clean, hosting convention-goers as well as tourists. Probably not the best choice for young children, as I feel they would get bored. We had the brunch buffet at Oma's ($40!) and the food was fabulous. The hotel staff was very friendly- some of the best I have encountered. But now you will understand why we will never stay here again. . .||Our room was on the 10th floor (out of 15 floors), and faced north. Across the street is a restaurant & lounge called KAI — Legacy West (pan Asian cuisine). On a Thursday night (!) starting at 10:00 pm, we experienced some of the loudest techno-rock music I have ever heard coming from a restaurant. By 11:30 pm, my wife and I were just trying to get some sleep after our 4 hour drive to Plano and before all of our planned activities scheduled for the following morning. Despite both of us wearing ear plugs and piling pillows on our heads, we could hear and FEEL the drums and bass all the way up on the 10th floor of the Renaissance hotel. At one point, I considered sleeping on the bathroom floor as it would have at least provided some protection with a door. The loud music continued until 2:00 am, after which we eventually got a couple of hours of sleep.||We reported this issue to the front desk the next morning and were able to change our reservation to a south-facing room on the 15th floor (top floor). We were told that a lot of guests have complained about this noise issue. The next 3 nights were fine. The hotel staff told us that the noise from Kai is a known issue and that the (Plano) police had been called numerous times. We were advised to call the police ourselves "next time" or to ask for front desk assistance. I have notified the Marriott Bonvoy corporate customer service team but have not received a phone call from anyone despite multiple requests. Apparently nobody cares. . .||Personally, I usually don't mind music coming from outside venues. But the experience at the Renaissance Dallas at Plano Legacy West Hotel was absurdly over-the-top just wrong. If you decide to stay at this hotel, I strongly recommend booking a King bed room on the south side; all Queen bed rooms face north towards Kai. There is nothing the local hotel staff can do to resolve this conflict as previous negotiations have failed, as per the hotel staff.||This hotel is in a good location and has lots to offer business men and women, professionals, couples, and so on. Just be careful about your room selection. You might also want to review the KAI — Legacy West website, as they list their events. Anything displayed as occurring from 10:00 pm - 2:00 a.m. is going to be a nightmare for you if you are staying on the north side of the Renaissance. For me and my wife (who lived in Plano for 6 years), we are just going to stay at another fabulous area hotel the next time we visit. And we won't be going to Kai,...
