Came here with 2 others this past Sunday for Brunch.
DECOR: It's a beautiful space with big windows, geometric globe chandeliers and I love that they bring a small coat tree to hang up coats and purses. The chairs and booths are very cushy and coffered ceiling tiles lend to the sophisticated ambiance.
FOOD: Brunch was sufficient. Asked what the most popular item was and was promptly told the Duck Confit & Waffles. At $22 it is a bit pricey but I was eyeing it already and ordered that. The other two orders were for Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine with a side of sausage (at the waitress' advice). Duck Confit was dry and salty, no discernible chives or bacon in the limp and soft waffles. The two egg dishes were good according to my companions. I had two Bloody Marys ($12 each) and they had a mimosa each. The Mary came in a slender glass not much taller than a coke can so that price is a bit hefty esp when I had to go get one myself. Leads me to my next point...
SERVICE: We were originally seated in a banquette next to a window under an air vent. It was 30*F outside and the air conditioning was running and blowing so hard the curtains were moving. We requested to be moved. As we were moving to a new table, the waitress watched us with a sour expression on her face, thinking that we were moving to a new section, and therefore a new server but they kept her as our server. She was wearing a hot pink bra that you could see through her white button up and was gruff and pushy trying to get those extra sales. Her timing was spot on...she consistently interrupted us in the middle of talking to ask us questions. Her manner came off as rough and insincere.
When I was halfway done with my Bloody Mary, I ordered a second. I finished it, the glass was removed, and she came by awhile later and remembering that I was still waiting on the 2nd Mary said, "Your bloody mary is coming up." and then disappeared for a long time. I looked up at the bar and could see my drink sitting there melting. I was done eating and ready to go so I just walked up to the bar to get it myself and she was standing there at the bar. She was struggling to open a bottle of Miraval Rose and kept her back to me. The bartender tried to get her attention to confirm that the now watery Bloody Mary belonged to me but was also ignored and so she had to confirm by just looking at the table number and then handing it off to me with a confused look on her face. As I turned back to the table, the waitress finally turned around and saw me and the bartender filled her in on what happened. However she never mentioned it when she came by the table later as we asked for our tabs. Total time elapsed from ordering 2nd drink to me getting it was about 45 min. My standard base tip is 20% but I had to put a tad more effort in to calculate 15% instead.
CONCLUSION: Go for the aesthetic and expect mediocre food but beware...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreJake and I went to Toulouse for our anniversary dinner. Jake picked this restaurant out specific to me loving French food and France atmosphere. I canāt even express how intimate and romantic the atmosphere truly was. We were listening to our favorite music by Ella Fitszgerald, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Nat King Cole. We started off with Jake getting an Old Fashion, and I have to say it was the best Old Fashion we have ever ordered.
They then brought our appetizer out of Escargot. It was DELICIOUS. Not only was the appetizer amazing but they brought out fresh bread for us as well which was to die for. The waiters here were phenomenal! They places two waiter to each table so we were always being waited on at all times. Patrick and Christina were impeccable with staying on their feet and making sure we had our sparkling water filled and our special drinks ordered.
We both ordered AMAZING food. I ordered the Two way Duck and Jake ordered the Bouillabaisse. Both were extremely enriched with taste. Absolutely amazing. And again always having our awesome waiters bring us our wine when needed throughout the night!
Then after everything, it was the final check on our list for dessert. I have a theory that a restaurant has to not only be amazing in regards to its appetizers and entree but also itās dessert. I have been to some amazing restaurants where everything was just exceptional and then the desert ruined it all. that did NOT happen here. We ordered creme brĆ»lĆ©e and it was just as amazing as everything else that night.
Now, this restaurant was not only amazing in food and drinks but also for its service and experience. Knowing it was our anniversary, they gave us a surprise at the end of the night just to make our experience so much more. So usually a restaurant will just order you a complimentary desert and that will be their notion of showing congratulations. But that did not happen that night. They brought our two old fashions for us on the House because they noticed how much Jake and I both loved his first old fashion he ordered. Not only did they realize and listen to what we were saying but they ordered it based off our likings, not just as regular customer who gets a complimentary desert. It was an amazing experience and to top it off they also put our desert we ordered on the house.
This is the most amazing restaurant I have ever been too. This will forever be Jake and Iās favorite restaurant and we will definitely be coming here for every...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have been to the Toulouse location on Knox in Dallas many times and consider that to be the perfect restaurant in every way. This location in Legacy West is not quite up to the other location in terms of ambiance and service, but the food was still outstanding and on par with about any restaurant I have been to anywhere, so they still get a full 5 rating. Knox location would get a 500 if I could go so high. This location of Toulouse feels more upscale French and less bistro, which isnāt bad just different. The wine list is always good but not overwhelming, so we were able to select a favorite. Then for the appetizer we started with the Camembert Petite Gougeres, stuffed pastry. They were done perfectly as far as cooking, but I could have been happier with a touch less truffle oil. I then had the Salade Maison, which was as fresh as can be and perfectly dressed. My wife had the Lobster Bisque. She has had this dish at locations around the world and considers this to be among the best she has ever tasted. She then went light for her main course, simply having the Beet & Goat Cheese Salade, a favorite of hers also from the other location. She said it seemed smaller with less beet chunks, but still outstanding. I had a special of the day ā a Striped Bass on Gnocchi and prawns. Really creative, really tasty and huge for this type of restaurant. I ate half and had a full meal again the next day at home. I selected this today over the Dover Sole MeuniĆØre which is finished tableside and is always market price. It was a bit high this evening and our server said he thought the fish were on the small side compared to usual. I really appreciated his insight because it is expensive and his honesty made our bill less, which could impact his tip based on percentages if I wanted it to. So, good for him, good for me.
All in all, a great restaurant and if in the area will return. If we are traveling just for Toulouse, will go to the...
