This place is WAY overpriced. We paid $173 per night, 2 queens.. Maybe it's the Hilton name. But I have been to Baymont Inns, Quality Inns that were nicer. 6 floors of rooms with only 1 small working elevator--the other was broken, forcing wait lines and packed elevators ( not ideal in times of Covid)..and because there were 6 floors, that elevator was VERY slow going. The beds were comfy but NO blankets, just the top sheet and the bedspread, which I never use. NO personal toiletries, just jugs of things attached to THE WALL, that they refill..now, that is a VERY CHEAP way to go.. Also, the toilets are strangely, close to the ground. If you are tall, be prepared to squat- a lot! For over $200 per night altogether ( 2 beds, 2 people), no personal shampoos, no toothpaste? No blankets?? The no blanket thing was unbelievable, really. So, BYOB..bring your own blanket. 😳 They do have some type of dinner and breakfast going, and they call it a restaurant, but it's a bit deceiving because it's just a seated area in the lobby with a guy who stands at a window/counter, waiting for orders..there were no menus posted that I saw either, on the wall, counter or tables-- I think this guy was just standing there to to tell you what your choices were and take your order..?..he didn't look happy to be there, honestly..not sure if that is included in the price or if it's good.. but it is provided. Breakfast is served buffet style.. there were cocktails served in the lobby/ seating/ dining area during dinner time. I'm sure they are billed to your room, but still, that is a nice touch. We don't drink, so it was a moot point for us. But still nice, if you like that sort of thing. You can GET maid service to do your room but you must request it if you are staying more than one night. That's ok with me.. As far as cleanliness of rooms, things did look pretty clean but there was visible dust, human hair and...not sure what, in the baseboards, behind the mattress, a place they must never clean. I sprayed with Lysol and wiped with cleaners cloths which I brought. The t.v. service is very basic, the remote was taped up, like the back wouldn't stay on, so it was taped..( This place also needs a big update, as everything is visibly aged). Also, the time on the t.v. time is WAY off and it likes to just shut off at will. You are watching it and, bam, it's off. Also, you cannot close the drapes, which is also very weird. The small side drape is for show only. So, if you sleep late and need a dark room, forget it. 6 a.m. and your room is full of morning light. One note-- they do allow pets. Never saw so many dogs-- it was disconcerting, really. But, nice if you have a dog and need to bring it. Not so nice if you are ALLERGIC to dogs and cats, as my husband is. They may require a pet fee, not sure about that. My husband called this place a dump..I wouldn't go that far, but we have paid much less and at least, there were blankets, toiletries, updated interiors. More than one small working elevator for the whole 6 floors...the only reason most of us were there was due to power outages from an ice storm. It had heat. That was the most important thing. Pretty expensive heat, though. My advice? If you can, find another place to stay and save some money. This review...
Read moreWe stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn in Plymouth as part of a wedding block. We tried to make reservations online but were unable to get into the block 2 days after it was opened so I had to call; then call back a few more times until I could talk to a sales person who could access the rooms. Then I had to deal with a sales clerk who made it sound like I was an annoyance asking her to do her job. Part of our group arrived at 2 pm and asked if they could check in early. They were told the rooms were not ready but would be soon. We arrived at 2:45 and were told ONE of our 3 rooms would be ready soon - check in time is 3 pm. We finally got the key to ONE room at 3:15. We had 9 adults (including 5 women) who drove 4-6 hours who had to get ready for a 5 pm wedding in one hotel room. Our shuttle for the wedding was leaving at 4:30 and our other 2 rooms were ready at 4:25 so we were scrambling to get checked into those, finish getting ready and get to the shuttle on time. The shuttle driver who picked up part of our party after the wedding arrived 1/2 hour late and extremely under the influence of who knows what and was barely able to open the door to the van. He drove erratically, most of the time off the road and all the passengers expressed their concern to him and then to the desk clerk. A new driver had to be called in to pick up the rest of us, obviously very behind schedule. At check-out, we were given a small discount for the rooms we got into late, but nothing for the problems with the shuttle. I paid for 2 of the 3 rooms but was charged for 3 and my son was also charged for the same room. I called to ask for the charge to be reversed for the 3rd room and was told I'd have to call back because the clerk didn't know how to do refunds. When I spoke to the manager they said it would take 48-72 hours to process. A week later, I still had not received a refund and my credit card company had no record of any pending transactions. I called AGAIN and was told it should have been processed but the person I spoke to was very confused why it happened in the first place and why my refund wasn't processed. 2 days later I finally got my refund. For the amount of money the wedding group spent there that weekend, I would expect a LOT more. I understand understaffing, but don't take on events you can't handle if you can't do them properly. This hotel may be very nice for a night or two stay, but is definitely not equipped to deal with events or...
Read moreOkay rooms. Great staff. Avoid the breakfast buffet.
The staff at the Plymouth HGI are quite wonderful (with one exception that I’ll get to later); the front-desk, housekeeping, and wait staff are warm, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Great people. The rooms are fine though showing their age; an upgrade is needed. No major surprises or disappointments, It was a bit difficult having to climb over the toilet to the tub/shower handles. The TV remote only worked when I held the remote under the TV itself. (Kinda defeats the idea of a 'remote,' ya' know? The bed was comfortable. The rates are fair.
One bit of advice: be wary of the breakfast buffet. During our stay, the scrambled eggs were undercooked (quite runny), the potatoes were charred and hard, and the bacon was burnt to crisp (broken shards of bacon). The selection of other foods was limited: only one type of cut fruit, one flavor of yogurt, no chicken or turkey sausage options, and only one strength (weak) of coffee. If you do want breakfast there, consider ordering from the menu. Which brings me to the staff issue. As I was scooping a healthy portion of eggs - hey, I’m a big guy! - the cook, standing near the table, said “Oh, THAT’s why we are always running out. People take too much.” When I shot her a bit of side eye, she said “Oh, I didn’t mean you!” Right. (I need to note that when I shared my reaction to the food and the cook’s comments with the management staff, they took the meal charge off of my bill. A gracious gesture.)
DO stop by the bar in the evening for a drink. Wonderful bartender. AND unlike another reviewer, our experience with the front-desk...
