I will NEVER stay here again. I recently visited this hotel July 31 - Aug. 3 with my family. We held our family reunion at this hotel with about 85 guests. On day one, we found a roach (let them tell it it's just a Palmetto bug - GROSS!) on our bed. My boyfriend removed the bug and we stripped the bedding and everything. The only reason we did not complain then was because ALL of my family was settled in and the reunion was starting. We did not want to cause a stir because everyone would have left immediately. We thought it was an isolated event UNTIL we found another one the night before we left on the elevator as we were waiting to ride! The men killed it and we all got on. As soon as I arrived back to my room, my boyfriend went to use the restroom and found ANOTHER one. He killed it and left it on the floor to show proof to the front desk. We also have a picture of it. We complained and the front desk lady was apologetic and said that she did not understand why Tesh (the manager) decided to spray the hotel for bugs on the weekend that they were busy and raining. She was disgusted when she seen it in our room. I did not sleep in my room that night. We asked to be moved (since it was over in the morning we could not check out and leave our family) but that was not an option because they were full. We sent Tesh Patel an email on Saturday night about it. He did NOT respond. I had to call him to get a hold of him. He did not apologize and he said that those bugs do come in and it is not under their control. They could not refund me any money. The only thing he could do is take 10.00/night off. Are you kidding me? Then he said he would refund me one night stay ONLY if I faxed him a letter stating that I wouldn't write a review. Of course, that was not an option. I had to go through Best Western Customer Care to get the refund. I called him back to let him know that he did not help me to reconcile anything and Tesh stated that it looks likes Best Western took care of me. I told him they could only do one night refund and the rest was up to him. He was not willing to refund our stay and NEVER apologized. Nobody should be used to the bug problems that they have! And it's a shame that he was not willing to fix the problem or provide customer service. He told me that they were not affiliated with Best Western Customer Care because they were independently owned so he doesn't have anything to do with what they say. But as soon as he found out they refunded one night stay, all of a sudden he says it comes out of their pocket and it looks like they took care of me. They did but he did not! Tesh Patel is very rude and does not care about his customers. As long as you already paid, that is all he cares about. I will say that the front desk staff is very nice and helpful during your stay.
Not to mention: IT STINKS!!! It smelt musty and like moth balls on the second floor! Do not...
Read moreWe have since stayed at this hotel for a third, and final, time since the last review. We will never stay at this hotel again. We had reservations for nine nights, but went to a different hotel after 7 nights. Upon arrival, the key coding machine was working, but it wouldn't work in the door for an hour. We understand things like this happen. An employee had to manually let each guest into their room. A tire on the suitcase cart was flat. Inconvenient, but again, these things happen. The next day (Sunday), we left our room by 1:30. Room attendants and carts were in the hallway. When we returned that evening, our room hadn't been touched. No big deal. My husband got fresh towels at the front desk. On Tuesday, we didn't leave our room until 3:30. Attendants and carts are in the hallway. We return that night; room wasn't touched. Ok, it was mid afternoon when we left. Wednesday, we left before noon. Attendant was in the hallway and asked if we needed anything. We asked that our room be cleaned. She responded it would be. It wasn't! My husband went to the front desk again. The clerk wanted to argue that the do not disturb sign was left out. It was not. We requested our room be cleaned on Thursday. Again, it wasn't. We didn't on Friday, and it wasn't cleaned on Friday. No surprise there. The internet service was intermittent, which we could've lived with. We had EARNED 2 free nights, but the manager wouldn't let us use them. She said to contact the corporate office and use credit in stores. We haven't and won't. This hotel has a rating of 3.6, I believe. That's what was posted in the hotel anyway. This rating is probably due to their 1 night guests. It shouldn't be more than a 2 from our experience. The employees and management seem to be satisfied with a sub par hotel. That's what their actions, or inaction, suggest. Fortunately, several hotels offer reward programs.
This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. I had absolutely no complaints the last time. We had an issue with our room getting cleaned this visit. Part of it was our fault. We didn't know having a pillow from our home being left on the bed would keep them from cleaning our room. We also stayed in our room a couple of days and didn’t need our room cleaned. We were there for 10 days; our room got cleaned twice. The noise, day and night, was awful. We could hear everything being said in the hallway like they were in our room. The people in the room above us would awake us from a deep sleep during the night. (Not their fault the floors are thin.) The rooms are spacious. The hotel is in a perfect location. It is definitely not the worst hotel. This past stay was just not nearly as pleasant as...
Read moreUpon arrival the hotel lobby is nicely laid out with the lounge and breakfast area to the left of the entrance. The staff is friendly, asked if you had any questions about the stay, confirmed your information and had us checked in in no time. As a frequent traveler for personal, business, and for my small business; where I choose to lay my head after a long day matters. Well, this location is very lackluster in comparison to it's Premier cousin down the road. This is my first stay at this location and it did not leave a good impression at all, and for this to be a Plus version Best Western it definitely needs to be brought up to its standards.
The rooms were decent and spacious, ours was clean however that was the living and sleeping spaces. The bathroom however needs some major renovations. First the mirror, sink, and toilet have all been updated very similar to the premier style, however our bathroom had holes in the drop ceiling panels, and looked as though the mold was painted over with white paint,
The shower faucet was not sealed and seated properly on the shower lining and when you pulled up on the faucet to divert water to the shower head it looked as though it was going to fall off, the shower head itself was very loose and made adjusting the settings like playing a game of Jenga.
The beds were very firm, and made a side sleeper like me work to get comfortable on the bed. I believe if you're a stomach of back sleeper you might enjoy the beds a bit more, but if you're a side sleeper you may be getting converted to being a different sleeper that night. The pillows were soft though small for the queen sized bed they were mates with.
Breakfast is nice and convenient if you really don't feel like dealing with the traffic of Pooler as it has grown substantially. They have protein options like sausage and eggs, fruit available, different grains, bread items available, as well as coffee. But if you are looking for a bit more filling breakfast I would venture out to one of the restaurants around Pooler as it is a large area with many options.
Overall it is a place to stay in a pinch or if there is nothing more available in the area. Also, it is a more affordable option in that area for a nightly stat. but you definitely get what you pay for as...
