Update - the hotel reached out and issued a gift card for future use.
Buyer beware, Expedia and Drury are not very understanding in case of emergency.
Summary of issues for those that do not want to read entire review. 1 - Due to family emergency, I was unable to use a reservation and it was neither refunded nor re-scheduled by Expedia or Drury. 2 - Drury does not share a local phone number, making it difficult to contact the Savannah location. 3 - Drury did not respond to my phone message 4 - Expedia closed my case without notifying me as they said they would based upon their inability to contact the hotel.
I booked a hotel for the Valentine's day weekend in 2025. My Valentine had a family emergency, leaving her dad in the hospital and she left the country to spend time with him. I contacted Expedia a week before the reservation, they said they would create a case and contact the hotel. Expedia told me they would contact me within 72 hours for an update. 72 hours passed with no contact from Expedia, I called them again, and they casually said my case was closed due to an inability to contact the hotel. Expedia opened another case, and told me they will try to contact the hotel again. While waiting to hear back from Expedia this time, I tried calling the hotel directly. My call went to a toll free number that had to be routed to Savannah. After my call was routed, nobody answered in Savannah (at about 11:00 am) and I left a message explaining the situation and requesting a call back. I never received a call back, and called Expedia once more. Getting close to the reservation, Expedia recommended I cancel the reservation while they try to recover the cost. I said yes and the reservation was canceled. Two days later I got an email from Expedia saying they were unable to help further.
While I understand sometimes these policies are in place for good reason, this was really disappointing and frustrating to deal with. I will not be doing business with either Expedia or Drury...
Read moreAlthough it had the potential to get a 5 star review from me, their lackluster service forced me to rate this place with a 2 star review. Reason 1: only two elevators serving 7 floors of guests and one was broken the evening we checked in and the 2nd broke the next morning during breakfast time. The front desk attendant told us one elevator was broken for two weeks and they were waiting for repair. People were dragging their luggage including us using stairs. Older couples walking with cane were forced to use the stairs. People can sue them for any health issue due to walking up and down and having heart attacks or other health emergencies. No employee offered to help older people with their luggage.
Reason 2: lackluster breakfast options. No option for people who don't eat pork products. Other hotels add turkey sausage along with pork sausage, Drury didn't. No yogurt, no nut mixes. Basically high carbohydrate breakfasts. Plus free soda, which people were drinking like the crazy Homer Simpson!
Positive areas: hotel room was ok. Front desk was cordial. It's a comparatively new hotel in the area, so time will tell how they maintain the hotel in the long run.
Summary: two elevators for a 7 floors hotel is a stupid idea and money saving trick by the company. Free snacks and drinks in the evening and free soda will only help you win some customers, but there are other better hotels nearby and in Savannah that can...
Read moreWe stayed one night in a king-size bed, pet-friendly room and if we're ever back this way, we'll definitely stay here again! This is one of the nicest hotels we've stayed at to date. It's fairly new, the decor is really nice, the staff was super helpful and friendly, and the room was very comfortable. The location is convenient as it's right off I-95, yet we couldn't hear any freeway traffic from our room. It has a nice pool and hot tub, and a large fitness room. It also has a sit-down bar/grill. The thing we loved most about this hotel though was what you get for your money--a free buffet-style dinner with 3 alcoholic drinks per person, and a free, hot breakfast. The dinner is from 5:30-7pm (I think it's offered 7 days/week) and included: chicken penne, baked potatoes, mixed veggies, a green salad, nachos & cheese and hot dogs. Plus, when you check in, you get a paper card that allows 3 free drinks per person at the bar that's set up near the buffet. We don't drink much, but for free? We went and got our 3 drinks each. The food was really good. The breakfast offerings were good too: scrambled eggs, sausage, baked/diced potatoes, pancakes, juice and a few other items. The king-size mattress in our room was thick and comfy, as were the pillows. Everything in the room worked as it should. The pet fee/dog/night was $75. We loved everything about this hotel and would enjoy...
