Food Lion — Local services in Pooler

I rarely take the time to rate a business but my experience today was exceptional. I parked to see a young girl gathering shopping carts in extreme heat with a determined look and easily handling the tasks despite the heat. I gladly offered to bring in a clutch of 4 while she continued to gather other needed carts.She smiled at me in grueling heat and said are you sure? I said of course. I proceeded inside and all throughout the store were busy working employees but working together chatting as they worked laughing and actually enjoying their work. Extremely rare.I proceeded to the meat counter to purchase some Rib Eye Steaks. I didn’t see any but a young short, thin man was busy putting out meat in the case and I ask You got any Rib Eyes? He said yes, I was about to put some out. He brought out a carrying rack full of different sized steaks and politely asked what type do you like? I looked and said I like them thick and he asked well, if you want a special cut I would be happy to cut it for you. I never asked for that service, despite being obviously busy, he simply took the initiative to serve me- The Customer whom he had never seen before in his life. I specified my request and he said just give me 10 minutes sir. Within 5 minutes he presented me 4 beautifully cut steaks to my order with a smile and pride radiating from his face. I forced a little tip $ to him because he was adamant not to except it. I have a BBA degree from college and have been managing in the service business for 41 years. I have been shopping at Food Lion since they opened up at this location. And as of late they have been closing early and last night was no exception My son got there around 9:15 and it was closed. This is how you lose customers. You probably could care less thinking that I came in there to spend $50 and no big deal. But because of this I go elsewheres and I probably have 25 years left on my life so let's do some math. I probably spend in the neighborhood of 2000 a month for groceries. 2000 x 12= 24,000. Have I got your attention yet. Ok,let's take this to the next level. 24,000x 25 years = $600,000. Just imagine how many of me are thinking this right now. And before you say we can't keep ppl,ask yourselves why is that?. I'll tell you why, I know ppl that has left your store in the last year and they leave because hardworking people don't get raises as promised so they take the knowledge that you gave them and make other companies better. FYI - I tried calling customer service and I'm not waiting...
