During our stay we encounter the following: Pros: Location - though there are so many other hotels around that you don’t need to stay in this one (I would advise not to) – Grocery, Shops, Services, most of what one needs for a few days away from home, is available in this area. Very walkable and it seemed safe. Entertainment – Satisfactory Restaurants, Theater, Library, Communal Play Areas, Quiet Neighborhood, good for a walk. It can keep you busy if you want to. Cons: Room – Outdated, Moisty/Humid (we had to clean the dehumidifier every hour, otherwise would overflow). Carpet had ripped of parts. Everything, other than wood based, was rusty. microwave with stains, dishwasher stinky and didn’t work properly. We found a live roach on the coffee/sugar holder. PLEASE MANAGEMENT, send pest control to this property. Pool Area – the seats were filthy and all rusted, most of the time they didn’t have towels available. Gym – Feels life you are in a prison, black plastic falling apart covering an entire wall, space looked like a giant trash bag. No towels available. No cleaning supplies available. Machines didn’t work properly. Missing dumbbells. Breakfast – There isn’t one. Whatever they advertise as, it is not true. You can find some overnight bread and pre-packaged soggy whatever imitating an egg and ham sandwich, but impossible to eat. In summary, we stayed more than a day only because was a work-related activity and pre-reserved by the company. Otherwise, we would have moved to another hotel. We did the check out and they didn’t process it, so they were charging us for another day if we hadn’t called them to confirm once we didn’t receive the invoice.

Dear Home2 management, First this letter is to advise you that on the night of Thursday Jan, 20th I came to the Portland area to do Captains training at the amazing Sea Academy in Aransas Pass. I work for the Hilton so I got to stay at the Home2 at the friends and family rate as I am a full time contractor. After a day of driving from Dallas I arrived with my dog, Frankie at our accommodations where I came into contact with “Austin”, the 3-11pm shift at Home2 Suits in Portland. When I arrived I was exhausted but delighted to make my arrival with plenty of time to get some rest before class the next day. There were no bell carts and Austin took it upon himself to scour the upper level floors so that I could load my 9 days worth of luggage. He was gone for at least 8 min. After I had unloaded everything I went to tip Austin and he refused. Refused? Yes, Refused… I even insisted and so did he. I work at a Hilton in Valet and I never refuse an earned and sometimes undeserved gratuity. I will take your cash or card anytime. I thought it odd that Austin didn’t accept the money but figured I would pay him back for his kindness in this very public way. I ended up extending my stay at Home 2 for an additional 2 days at the full rate because Austin, and the other staff including management were so accommodating to our needs. If there is anyway this note could be printed to place in his Human Resources file, please do so. Well deserved. I highly recommend this location for cleanliness, location between Port Aransas, and Corpus Christi. If you have any questions please feel free to comment.

The room gets a score of 4 out of 5. The room was amazing and had great amenities such as a dishwasher, reasonable sized refrigerator/freezer and a pull-out sofa bed in addition to the two queen-size beds. The room also came with: plates, bowls, silverware, and glassware.

The staff gets a reading of 3 out of 5. There was a noticeable difference in friendliness and helpfulness between the daytime and nighttime staff. I found the front desk staff to be generally borderline rude and lacking pleasantness. The nighttime office staff was very friendly and always had smiles on their faces. I found them very accommodating when we had requests such as extra pool towels and needing to borrow a pair of scissors. The housekeeping staff was very pleasant and did an excellent job of reordering our room while we were out for the day.

The amenities of the hotel including the pool get a definite 5 out of 5. The exercise room and laundry facilities were impeccable. The laundry facility feature to front loading washers and dryers and we're completely free to operate. If you found yourself without laundry detergent you could also purchase some from the front office staff. The exercise room included: multiple sets of dumbells up to 50 lb weight capacity, a stair climber, two treadmills, varying weight sizes of medicine balls, recumbent bike, and a cable training machine. The pool features ambient music played through the mounted speakers, lots of tables/chairs, decorative lighting, and access to to gas grills.

Unfortunately the only downside to our experience at this hotel would be the breakfast. During our 3-day stay the orange juice was always skunky. The staff was notified however no correction was made. Every morning my wife and I would watch other patrons sample the orange juice, they usually spit it back into the cup or pour it out. We also encountered off tastes with their self-service waffle station.

The location of this facility is excellent. There is a pretty good steak house across the street, a movie theater a stone's throw away from the hotel, and you have access to a Walmart, Academy, and an H-E-B grocery store.

Overall we ranked our experience here a 4 out of 5 and will be sure to frequent Hilton brand hotels...

We stayed only for one night while on a weekend family trip. We stayed at a Home2 Suites once before and it was a great experience so we wanted to stay at one again even though there were many other choices in that immediate area. Sadly this property did not compare at all.

We checked in and the room smelled extremely moldy. To the point where we should've turned right back around and asked for another room especially since we have a toddler but I figured if the first room is like this then I have no hopes of expecting anything else from any other room. And since they already authorized our card, we decided to tough it out and stay for the night.

As the stay progressed, we started noticing that this property has a lot of issues. There was just mold everywhere - on the wood panel by the A/C, on the walls of the shower, and even on the furniture itself. The sofa even had patches of mold on it! We noticed a little dehumidifier in the room which I've never seen in any hotel room we've ever stayed at so that was the first red flag.

The whole entire carpeted area in the room was moist. We had to wear slippers wherever we walked in that room. Silverware in the drawers were dirty, the fridge smelled, and the dishwasher smelled completely rancid - it smelled like backed-up sewer water right when we opened it.

They offer free breakfast which is appreciated, but the offerings were not that great. Not even any scrambled eggs...only prepackaged breakfast sandwiches and the fruit was overripe and going.

How unfortunate that $140 was wasted. We didn't bring any of this up to the front desk because the poor clerk would've had to listen to issues that were beyond their control - they just work there. This is directed towards management and ownership...it's a health code violation to be operating a hotel in this condition when you CLEARLY know you have a severe mold issue. People could get sick from that, especially those with respiratory issues. Just something to...

I’m a long-time Diamond member who travels frequently for work, and I’ve stayed at countless Hilton properties across the country. I’ve never felt the need to leave a review or had a complaint cause normally they are above average and my go too! Unfortunately, my experience at this particular location was by far the worst—and frankly, dangerous.

As soon as I walked into the lobby, I was hit with the overwhelming smell of mold. Fan blowing on the second floor, When I got to my room, I found a full dehumidifier, visible mold in the windows, and curtains stained from what appeared to be long-term water damage. The room reeked of mold—strong enough to make breathing uncomfortable!

I asked to be moved to another room, only to find that it was just as bad. When I showed the night auditor pictures of the damage in both rooms and where it had been wiped down, I was met with excuses, claiming the water damage on curtains were “just stains” and denying any water damage within the building when I asked and raised my concerns for myself and others. But the building clearly smells like mold, and I could see in the second room they gave me someone had tried to wipe it away—it’s not just cosmetic, it’s systemic.

This is more than just a poor hospitality experience. It’s a serious health risk. Mold exposure can be extremely dangerous, especially for people with respiratory issues, and this level of neglect is shocking for a Hilton property!! If someone with asthma or allergies stayed here, the results could be tragic.

This hotel needs to be brought up to health and safety standards immediately. Not all Hilton properties are like this!! But this one is an exception in the worst way. I love hiltons but this was insane, and I hope they can make this right for future customers.

Until serious remediation is done, I strongly advise others—especially those with health concerns—to stay far away from this location.

The Hampton inn next to it would be my...
