Enjoyed a quick visit to this small museum. Wasn't the biggest fan of the collections on current display but the space, faculty and location were all fantastic. Im sure they have some really great expo's that come through. Free entry after 5pm on fridays!!

Surprisingly extensive. An impressive permanent collection of late 19th century and early 20th century American works by artists who taught and worked on The Cape including Charles Webster Hawthorne, Edward Hopper, Hans Hoffman, and others.

I love this place. It is a very creative and dynamic museum. Their members shows are wonderful and approachable. There is an openness and broad view of the arts that is incredibly refreshing.

I was extremely disappointed that I was not allowed to freely view the 12x12’s when I was at the museum yesterday. I have bid on many pieces in the past and am a proud owner of an encaustic that I was fortunate enough to “win”. Yesterday, I was told I had to pay the full price of admission in order to view the works for sale which are in a separate room, separate from the other collections. I have supported the 12x12 project in the past because I value the work of local artists, many that may not have the opportunity to show in galleries. I was told by the woman at the front desk that I could view the pieces online. Well, everyone knows viewing art online hardly comes close to the emotional connection one can experience when seeing art in person. I don’t feel charging a fee to view a fund raiser and valuable community outreach...

Extremely rude staff. I walked in to look for my mother, who had went in to use their public bathroom, and the employee at the counter was absolutely horrible. I admit, I did poke my head into the art room to look for my mother, but I didn't even step into it, and it wouldn't have been difficult for him to simply say, "excuse me, can I help you?". I was there with my twelve year old brother. Obviously we weren't looking to steal glances at the overpriced, nonsensical modern art you could see through the window. Instead of politely correcting us, the man said "excuse you?", and then "and?" when I apologized and said I was looking for my mother who had come in. The other man, whom I believe worked there as well, looked at him as if he was an idiot, and then kindly directed...

Currently showing the work of Sam Feinstein: The Radiance of Colour. This exhibit is a holy WOW. I have had a few transcendent experiences through paintings in my life: Velazquez at the National Gallery in London on a Saturday evening with the gallery all to myself; Matisse at the Tate Modern where I was so uplifted I walked back to Marylebone in utter wonder; Picasso's huge studies of Velazquez' Las Meninas; and now these extraordinary living, breathing paintings of Feinstein's...my head, my heart, my spirit - refreshed, renewed, inspired.

Oh - and there is a wonderful exhibit of photographic portraits of local artists taken over the last few years =...
