Date of stay: March 2019 Hotel room was great. We stayed in a King Room. We had a microwave, coffee maker, and mini-fridge (no freezer) in it. We had two TVs. The night stands had outlets so we could plug in our adapter for phone charging, etc. The room had a couch in it which was pretty comfy, a closet for clothes (not as big as other rooms I have stayed in at other hotel brands but it worked for what we needed), a blanket in the closet, a recycle bin, two trash cans, a nice desk that pulled out, an office chair, an ottoman, two metal circular tables in the living room which I used for food/laptop, etc just like a nightstand just in the living space (I really loved these tables), several channels and a TV guide that was easy to use in the TV (better than any other hotel I have been to)...etc. The a/c worked great. Bed was super comfortable. The shower was fantastic - big, hot and cold water was working perfectly, shelves to put body wash, etc, a shower bar to hold onto or to put a wash cloth on to dry, etc. The bathroom floor dried up pretty fast overall after a shower versus other bathrooms in hotels I have been to. That was really nice. It was in a great location to where work was and several places to shop and/or eat at.
The breakfast at the hotel was okay but not great. I have had better breakfasts from other hotels before with more options. The eggs were really salty and not real eggs. The bacon wasn't a good quality. But it is a free breakfast so-to-speak included in the stay so it was OK for breakfast.
The internet was fast for what we needed it for - YouTube, instagram, facebook, phone games, browsing the internet for restaurants, etc. and e-mail. We used the free internet. We did not need the high-speed internet. If I had a game system I might have bought that internet to use to play multiple online - like for a PS4.
The staff was friendly - everyone I talked to/interacted with.
The gym had treadmills (with TVs on them - you just need your headphones/ear buds, free weights, towels, trash can, wipes for the machines for sweat/germs, etc. It was pretty hot in the gym.
The only problems that make me not give it 5 stars:
Overall, I would stay here again. I loved the room and love...
Read moreAll things considered, probably the best Fairfield I've stayed at (I'm lifetime Bonvoy Gold). Very clean. Decent parking (someone else had complained about that). The pool openings are very typical – Memorial Day to Labor Day (someone else had complained about that too) but it's so small I'm not sure I'd use it anyway.
The breakfast is very reasonable considering that it's a Fairfield, and very typical of this price range of hotel, whether it's a Marriott or a Hilton brand.
Everybody has their pet peeves, so here are my two: First, the TV shuts off automatically after 4 hours and there's no way to get around this at all. Yes, there is a dialog screen that pops up on the TV to cancel this but you can't get the remote to hit the OK button. Second, there's enough poison ivy vine adjacent to the parking lot to kill a small army so avoid walking in front of your car when you park in the spaces on the side of the hotel.
Personally, my experience with the front desk staff is that they don't really exist. They are either on their phone talking or surfing the web. I know this job is very boring, but they should at least acknowledge guests as they walk by. I said "they" but I' only saw one person at a time ever; I think this is a part of the problem since there's no constant presence at the front desk.
The location is great and easy to get to/from, but avoid Triangle Town center as a shopping experience. The mall is pretty much dead. Go to Southpoint or Crabtree.
Don't count on the Google photos in the reviews as representative. Some are just stock photos (especially the ones of food).
I will definitely stay here again. I lived in the area for 30 years and I've tried many Marriott brands in the area as I've come back for business trips in the past 5 years. This place is my choice now.
When the traffic is good, it takes only 20 minutes to get to downtown Raleigh or back out to RTP so it's very convenient and cost efficient vs. the really expensive...
Read moreThe front desk woman at this hotel saved our day. Wish I could remember her name. I called around 7:30 a.m. from the Hampton Inn up the street where my 82-year-old mother and I had just undergone the worst experience from non-functioning shower, puddles in the elevator, and being berated by staff. I was desperate to get her and myself out of that hotel. We were encouraged to come on over to Fairfield Inn & Suites immediately and she would get us checked in.||We arrived around 8:00 a.m. The woman immediately went about finding a suitable room for us, asking if there were any special accommodations preferred by my mother. She got us checked in, said she was so sorry for what we had just been through (!! what?? not even her hotel or staff but she's offering sympathy, soothing the situation, making us feel heard - THIS is how you do it Hampton Inn!!), encouraged us to let her know if there were any issues with the room, but to please come in, get settled, have a shower, enjoy some breakfast. ||I've never tried to check into a hotel prior to the standard "3pm is earliest" - was afraid we were going to have to wait until the afternoon to find another hotel. But we didn't. The whole ordeal put us a little behind schedule for the day's plans, but had it not been for this front desk staff at Fairfield Inn & Suites, the day would have been much worse - without a much needed shower and fraught with worrying on where we would stay that night. ||THIS is exemplary customer service.||AND - the room was splendid. My mother walked around the room exclaiming - look! they even have (fill in the blank). The price was maybe $15 more but the room was much bigger, updated, the bathroom was fabulous. Breakfast was great - both mornings, even though technically we only paid for one. THANK YOU to the lady working the front desk Sunday morning, March 24, 2024. You made all the difference. We'll be staying at this hotel from now on for our 2 - 3x year visits with our...
