This hotel is located along US Hwy 17 in Richmond Hill. It is located less than a mile west from the I-95 interchange at exit 87. One thing to note is that there wasn't a large sign where to turn in, so be sure to pay attention to that so you don't miss it. Plenty of parking is available in both the front and back of the building. As the name implies, all rooms are suites. My stay here was for the night of August 23, 2022.
We got here around 3:30 pm after leaving in the morning from home. Once we got parked, we came inside to get checked in (this location is not currently doing online check in ahead of time or digital keys). During the check in process, they let us know that there are train tracks behind the hotel, so you could feel some vibrations and sounds while in the room, even overnight. I did get some bottled water and some chips for being a Silver Elite Marriott Rewards member. We got the key card and headed up to the room to check things out.
The room that I had on this visit was 405. The window to the room faces the train tracks, so it's safe to assume that odd numbered rooms will have the back to the train tracks, while even numbered rooms face the front of the building. The TV was on when we came in, with a personalized welcome on there. The size of the room is nice and large too. There is a microwave, mini fridge, lots of drawers, working desk, and more. The bathroom has an actual shower instead of a tub and shower. The size of the closet was really nice too. It looked bigger than the one I have at home. The room has plenty of regular and USB outlets as well. The beds were really nice and soft too. I was able to get a great night's sleep as well. Although trains went by overnight, I did not hear any of them or feel any vibrations.
Now, let's explore the outside public grounds. At the front of the hotel, there is a nice large area to sit and relax outside, with some being around a fire pit as well. It is spacious and nice and open too. Now, to the back of the property. In the back, you will find the pool. The pool is fully outdoors and is not heated. The pool area has chairs and umbrellas to use, as well as a storage area (cubbies) to put things like towels, shoes and such too. Due to the shallowness of the pool, diving is not permitted. They also have an outdoor shower to wash off with before entering the pool. Just as a note, you will need to use your room key to re-enter the hotel at any entrance except the main one.
There's more to explore on the inside too. When you enter from the main entrance, you will see a very nice seating and relaxing area. The guest services desk is to the left, next to their market. In that same area, you will also find the breakfast serving area. Just past the guest services desk, you will find the "business center", where you can use the computer to print something, fax, etc. Just before you go out the door to the pool area, there is another door on the left. This door takes you into the exercise room, which is open 24 hours. The exercise room is a very nice size with lots of options to get your exercise on too.
I do want to give a shout out to one of the guest services representatives at the desk. This is for Sheree. She was great to work with and talk with as well. We talked in more detail about experiences with trains going by overnight and such. She did great with explaining everything and talked about the property in general. She is very helpful and has a great personality. She also helped me with getting some additional shower items. She is definitely a keeper here and deserves a raise when it comes up again.
The following morning, it was time to have a bit of a breakfast before hitting the road again. The breakfast items are typical of what you would find at most hotels, such as bagels, pastries and such. They also have a waffle iron to make waffles with too. The juice options were...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAlthough Juleen was accommodating as the general manager, and Lula in housekeeping was amazing as well the same cannot be said about all of the staff. My wife, newborn son and I were told by Karen and Andrea at the front desk by phone that we had to be out of the room on the day of checkout within the next 30-45 minutes due to them needing to get an A/C detached from the room, cleaned and reinstalled. I was told by Karen and Andrea that in these words ā Your not even a silver or gold member, and only platinum and above can stay until 4 pm checkout. We are paying this A/C company by the hour and we can no longer wait for them to fix the clean the A/C unit in your room as your room is the last room that requires the cleaning. You have until 1:45 pm to checkout and your receipt and your charges will be explained when you get to the front desk to checkout.ā The time was 1:13 pm when this statement was made. My wife was breast feeding our newborn and our bags were no where near packed. The crazy thing about this entire stay is that I am a gold bonvoy member and that status alone gives me a 2pm checkout. Not to mention I booked the room through Amex travel platinum which activates the Amex preferred 4 pm checkout but I was told that none of that mattered because my elite status was not high enough in the most derogatory and demeaning way. Upon checking out they seemed to have been looking at the wrong account and saw that I was a gold member with two accounts that needed to be merged although I merged my accounts a year ago and havenāt had an issue anywhere else accept this establishment. Even if I werenāt an elite member, I am a paying customer that doesnāt deserve to be treated like my money means less due to being perceived as non elite in that moment. The non accommodating stress that this put on our trip as a family is something I have never experienced. We traveled almost 10 hours by mini van from FT.Campbell,KY so that my mother and grandmother that live in Savannah,GA could meet their newborn grand and great grand son. I am an active duty Army soldier and have been for the past 14 years, my wife is a recently medically retired Army veteran with spinal and hip issues and 3 weeks postpartum. We have traveled the world together during our time in service and have never ever experienced such unethical treatment. Weāre extremely respectful where ever we go and live by the golden rule of doing unto others as we desire to be done to us. I was also over charged for a night that I covered for my mothers stay in a different room. I went down to the front desk to tell them I wanted to extend the stay in my mothers room for an additional night and asked if there was anything else they needed from me in order to complete this transaction and I was told I was set until checkout. I received a call at 3:50 pm the following day to tell me that they had no knowledge of the extension on my mothers room and that I needed to come to the front desk and pay before 4pm. I literally went to the front desk the very night before to ensure this was taken care of so that my mother could enjoy her stay without anxiety but somehow her and I both received a call the following day asking me to pay up. There was a clear communication breakdown between shifts and it was I, the customer that had to pay for it. I was also charged twice for that additional night once on my Amex at checkout and then again on my Marriott bonvoy card on the day I was called and told they werenāt tracking my extension. There were other things that I will not mention because Juleen took care of those situations promptly. The aforementioned are the things that stood out the most to me regarding my stay. I want to thank Lula from housekeeping for being a National treasure within a stressful time for two first time...

The staff isn't very friendly. I had to extend my stay and went down that evening after work and asked to extend my stay. they required me to go down and check out, just to check back in the next day. This was weird to me but okay. So the next morning, I went down stairs, had breakfast and proceeded to do the check out and check back in, thing. I was a little unsure how I was going to bring it up, because out of all my stays and extensions, I've never had to do this. Anyhow, when I approached the counter, the third shift lady came out and asked if I was checking out, like they normally do. I was like, well I guess kind of and then I explained going down the night before to extend my stay and that they said I needed to check out and check back in. I wasn't sure how else to bring it up, other than explain the entire story. The girl looked at me and said, "are you mad?". I'm said no, it's a little incontinent but mad, no I am not. Then she proceeded to get loud and say something like she had never met me before and never helped me before and I had no reason to be mad at her. I mean, it was quite loud and aggressive. Like she was looking for a fight. Now, I had been up for like 30 minutes, so I was not smiling and happy, I hadn't even had a sip of coffee yet. I was just trying to start my day, but the more I thought about it that morning, the more it rubbed me wrong. I started to go back later and check out but I didn't, figured id give it another go.
The next day, I needed to do some laundry. I went down to get change for the machine. The lady at the counter acted like it was killing her to count out a little change.
Anyhow, I checked out the following morning and went to the Fairfield just down the road to stay while I finish my project I'm working on. They're much friendly here and I'll never stay at the Springhill again.
The sink barely had any water pressure and the TV remote...
